What To Expect When You’re Expecting Giveaway

WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN YOU’RE EXPECTING will be in theaters May 18th and the last time I went to the theater with my husband I saw such a funny trailer that I’m really excited about this movie. What to Expect When You’re Expecting looks so very funny and the line up of actors is amazing. Having kids brings the true meaning to unexpected to your lives and from the trailers it looks like this movie has truly captured it.

Inspired by the perennial New York Times bestseller of the same name, WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN YOU’RE EXPECTING is a hilarious and heartfelt big-screen comedy about five couples whose intertwined lives are turned upside down by the challenges of impending parenthood.

image
Over the moon about starting a family, TV fitness guru Jules and dance show star Evan find that their high-octane celebrity lives don’t stand a chance against the surprise demands of pregnancy. Baby-crazy author and advocate Wendy gets a taste of her own militant mommy advice when pregnancy hormones ravage her body; while Wendy’s husband, Gary, struggles not to be outdone by his competitive alpha-Dad, who’s expecting twins with his much younger trophy wife, Skyler.  Photographer Holly is prepared to travel the globe to adopt a child, but her husband Alex isn’t so sure, and tries to quiet his panic by attending a “dudes” support group, where new fathers get to tell it like it really is.  And rival food truck chefs Rosie and Marco’s surprise hook-up results in an unexpected quandary: what to do when your first child comes before your first date?
imageA kaleidoscopic comedy as universal as it is unpredictable, WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN YOU’RE EXPECTING finds humor and uplift in all the unexpected trials and triumphs of welcoming a child into the world.  The film stars Cameron Diaz, Jennifer Lopez, Elizabeth Banks, Chace Crawford, Brooklyn Decker, Anna Kendrick, Matthew Morrison, Dennis Quaid, Chris Rock, Rodrigo Santoro, Ben Falcone and Joe Manganiello.

Inside The Hunger Games Movie –More From An Interview With Producer Nina Jacobson

By: Ashley

Since opening weekend 3 weeks ago, The Hunger Games has been at the top of the box office. Now it’s the beginning of Easter weekend and some early Friday results show it might stay that way! It is reported that Hunger Games is the highest grossing movie EVER for Lionsgate. That means there are plenty of diehard fans and newcomers to the story wanting to get a peek inside the movie. What better way than reading what Hunger Games producer Nina Jacobson had to say in an interview shortly before the release of the film?

One of the obvious conversations going on about The Hunger Games is over the differences between the movie and the book. As a fan of both, I have to say that I think they did an AMAZING job. In my first interview post from Nina Jacobson, I mentioned a few of the obvious differences (Madge, the stylists), but didn’t really dive into the whole perspective of the movie. The book is told solely from Katniss’s perspective. The movie has the ability to go beyond that… and it’s actually a pretty integral part of making the movie come alive to both those who have read the book and those who haven’t. Jacobson pointed out that the film must show, “why the Hunger Games are such a critical tool in the oppression (of the people).” In the movie, it’s possible to see what’s happening outside the arena. “Katniss doesn’t know why the rules change. (We’re able) to fill in some of the blanks… We get to see the response outside of the games… We see Haymitch’s influence (and) the growing tension in the Districts.” Seeing the “work” being done outside of the games was something I personally enjoyed A LOT in the movie. Haymitch Abernathy (Woody Harrelson) and Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) in THE HUNGER GAMES.

When asked for her absolute favorite character or part of the book, Jacobson didn’t take too long to respond with Katniss. It may sound obvious, but her reasoning behind this really gave insight into how many layers Jacobson has peeled back from the story to have a true and complete understanding. “Katniss is a true survivor and protector of her family. She is not civic minded, but (comes) to a point where she can trust others and care for others… She reaches an ethical line she won’t cross. (Katniss) transcends self interest by way of her own ethical choices.” President Snow (Donald Sutherland, left) and Seneca Crane (Wes Bentley, right) in THE HUNGER GAMES.

With such love for the story and the characters, I had to ask Jacobson about the great choices regarding sound and location made in the film. If you’ve seen Hunger Games you’ll know exactly what I mean. There are moments where the sound effects (and lack thereof) really transport you into the action. Jacobson says that, “ Gary (Ross) had clear ideas on this from the beginning… It was important not to overscore the film. We didn’t want to tell the audience how to feel.” Definitely an interesting comment now that reports say Gary Ross won’t be back as director for film number 2, Catching Fire.SC_D14_03766_R

Though the director may change (I’m a little sad about that), I’m hoping that the filming location will be just as amazing in Catching Fire as in Hunger Games. Hunger Games supposedly set in Appalachia, and it was filmed deep in the mountains of Asheville, North Carolina. (Definitely made me proud as a Carolina Girl!) Jacobson said, “We scouted the area and couldn’t believe how perfect it fit.” They used the mountains in Asheville and some of the metropolitan areas of Charlotte. Very cool if you ask me. Makes me wonder what a good fit for Catching Fire would be…

The Hunger Games – A Movie That IS As Good As the Book

By: Ashley

The odds were most definitely in my favor as I was able to make it to a press screening of The Hunger Games. As a HUGE fan of the books, and a movie go-er who is often disappointed by books brought to the big screen, I was equally excited and nervous. However, when the movie ended and the credits started to roll, I knew that Lionsgate had truly made a wonderful movie.

The Hunger Games is a movie that fans of the book will love as it accurately brings the story by Suzanne Collins to the screen. Fans will see the scenes that made movies in their minds played out in a larger than life way. As a true fan of the novels, I couldn’t help but compare the two looking for differences, noting what was left out, and noticing the book to movie changes. Did I notice a few differences? Yes. Did they take away from the story, or bother me? NO! The Hunger Games movie did a phenomenal job of staying true to what is an amazing story.

katnis and James

As for movie go-ers that are not already fans of the book, they will leave the theatre completely attached to the characters, contemplating societal and political ideals, and begging to know what comes next in the story. Don’t worry, this movie does a fantastic job telling the complete story, so reading the book is not necessary for watching. (Though I must say, reading the books is something that should be on EVERYONE’S list…) The storyline in The Hunger Games is captivating for tweens, teens, and adults of all ages. Intense action scenes, a well done love story, amazing sound effects, and a star-studded cast are only a few of the things that make The Hunger Games a must see movie. Did you not know that this was a star-studded cast? Elizabeth Banks, Woody Harrelson, Stanley Tucci, Lenny Kravitz, and Donald Sutherland are just some of the names that stand out on the cast. Top all of that off with Jennifer Lawrence playing an amazing protagonist, Liam Hemsworth playing her best friend, and Josh Hutcherson as the strong male tribute… you’ve got yourself a MUST SEE MOVIE!

That’s it. This is a MUST SEE MOVIE! So, whether you’re going to wait in line Thursday at midnight, or go early Saturday morning… GO SEE IT! =)

On-Set Interview with Elizabeth Banks – What to Expect When You’re Expecting

By: Ashley

imageWhen I was in Atlanta this September, I stood at the back of a huge convention room filled with hundreds of pregnant women… or were they? Sound crazy? That’s because it was! Thanks to an invite from Lionsgate, I was able to go on set as they filmed a pee your pants HILARIOUS scene from the coming soon movie What to Expect When You’re Expecting (this analogy might be funnier for those during pregnancy or suffering from a post baby bladder!). A few other bloggers and I had the chance to watch one of the stars, Elizabeth Banks, in action before we sat down and talked with her for a bit about her role as a mom both on and off the screen.

In the scene, Elizabeth Banks plays Wendy. This character is a mom who has a dream of what a breeze pregnancy will be since she has so much information and insight into the whole process. Wendy runs a specialty boutique in the heart of Atlanta called The Breast Choice where she is a proud supporter of breastfeeding and all things baby. According to Banks, Wendy, “learns that pregnancy is such a different experience for everyone,” and you really see her journey as “she learns not to judge.” I often write about all of those things I thought I knew before having my own son, so that is a character I think lots of moms can relate to!

Sitting in the hall of the Georgia World Congress Center, surrounded by women with baby bellies (both prosthetic and real), Elizabeth Banks graciously offered a few minutes of her time. I was amazed at how genuine and down to Earth she was (not to mention INCREDIBLY funny). Since Elizabeth had literally JUST finished filming another movie 4 days before she started filming What to Expect she talked about her life as a working mom. She works to spend as much time with her son as possible. She considers herself lucky that he’s able to come to work with her, but said she does like every working mom and does the best she can. In an interview with WhatToExpect.com Banks added that she wants Felix (her son) to know that she is passionate about something.

image

Among the wit, sarcasm, and off the cuff jokes that Elizabeth shared with us, one of my favorites had to be when she was asked about her favorite “go to” book for parenting advice. She adamantly believes that we “don’t rely enough on common sense!” I really agree with her attitude that things happen and you have to learn as you go.

When I asked Elizabeth what had changed for her since entering mommyhood, her response was one I think we can all relate to. “I am learning so much more about the capacity of joy. I didn’t know it was possibly to have this much joy in (her) life.” Sure we all have our not so great moments, but when it’s all said and done, isn’t that the truth? Our kids do bring us joy!

My experience visiting the set of What to Expect and meeting a Hollywood star was amazing. A big thank you to Lionsgate for inviting me and having us out for such a great adventure. Next stop? May 18 to see What to Expect when it lands in theatres! If Elizabeth Banks is ½ as funny on screen as she is off, you might want to make sure you don’t drink too much soda, if you know what I mean! ;)

What to Expect When You’re Expecting pops into theaters May 18 just in time for Mother’s Day.

Sneak Peek Inside the Movie: What To Expect When You’re Expecting

A Visit to the Set of What to Expect When You’re Expecting

By: Ashley

I have been hanging onto this information for so long that I can hardly believe I finally get to share it! I went to Atlanta in September. Why Atlanta, you ask? (As if the title didn’t give it away…) I was in Atlanta so that I could go ON THE SET of the soon to be released, Lionsgate Film, What to Expect When You’re Expecting! It was such an amazing experience and I learned so much about how movies are made, how much work it takes, and got some super sneak peeks into the world of what I’m positive is a laugh out loud funny movie! If you haven’t seen the What to Expect trailer yet, then you should definitely do that.

It’s a movie all about the joy, challenges, fears… and just moments of HILARITY that come with the process of becoming a parent. The movie shows the different paths 5 couples take to parenthood… 5 very different paths for 5 very different couples. Here’s a glimpse at the moms of What to Expect to get you ready.

Skyler (Brooklyn Decker) – The young, gorgeous mom who makes pregnancy look like a beautiful breeze. Also the trophy wife for her much older husband (Dennis Quaid).

FIN01_6263_1Sht_Brooklyn_P03_VF

Jules (Cameron Diaz) – A super busy fitness freak who “works out” a surprise pregnancy.

FIN01_6263_1Sht_Cameron_P05_VF

Wendy (Elizabeth Banks) – An author and baby know it all who discovers every side effect known to carrying a child. FIN01_6263_1Sht_Elizabeth_P04_VF

Holly (Jennifer Lopez) – A mom who can’t wait to meet her baby that she’s adopting from across the world. FIN02_6263_1Sht_JLo_P05_VF

Rosie (Anna Kendrick) – A food truck chef who has one of “those nights” and ends up pregnant.

FIN01_6263_1Sht_Anna_P02_VF

When I was on set, a group of bloggers and I were lucky enough to see the action in progress. (By the way, they really do yell “ACTION” when they start filming a scene.) We watched them film a scene based on Wendy (played by Elizabeth Banks), a baby-crazed author who thought she knew everything there was to know about pregnancy. I was amazed by how many times they shot the same scene over and over! There were tons of extras in the scene and everyone had to stay “in character” while they perfected the scene. What was even more amazing was how each take was so different! Watching Elizabeth Banks make small changes to her posture, her tone, and a little ad-libbing on her lines as she rampages on the dark side of pregnancy was HILARIOUS! I have to say that I honestly laughed at almost every take of the same exact scene!

We were even lucky enough to catch a quick word with the producer of What to Expect When You’re Expecting. He said that when he saw the title of the internationally known book, he just knew it would make a great film. I have to say that I could not agree more! I can’t wait until May 11 when What to Expect When You’re Expecting FINALLY comes to the big screen!

What to Expect When You’re Expecting… THE MOVIE!

By: Ashley

Do you remember awhile back I went on some secret mission in Atlanta? Well, I can FINALLY tell you what it was for! WTE_07407_CROP.CR2

There is an amazing movie coming out based on the international bestseller with the same title. The cast of What to Expect When You’re Expecting alone will blow you away: Cameron Diaz, Jennifer Lopez, Elizabeth Banks, Chace Crawford, Brooklyn Decker, Anna Kendrick, Matthew Morrison, Dennis Quaid, Chris Rock, Rodrigo Santoro, Ben Falcone and Joe Manganiello. See? Pretty impressive, right? You may wonder how such an information filled text can become a comedy. Well, if you know anything about pregnancy, people, or life in general, the transition is actual pretty natural! The movie follows the lives of several different couples (including reality TV stars, food truck rivals, and an older man with a “trophy wife”) through the trials, challenges, triumphs and smiles that happen as you welcome a child into the world. This star-studded cast makes this film a heartwarming comedy that is universally funny and touching all at the same time. Just watching the trailer (which has recently been released – YAY!) cracks me up!

Lionsgate From Book To Movie, The Hunger Games & One For The Money

I’ve noticed recently that Lionsgate is into turning books into movies. They transformed The Hunger Games from book to movie with the first one coming out March 23, 2012.  The Hunger Games is a very popular series by Suzanne Collins and is remarkably amazing. I read the first book in one week and book two and three took me a weekend. I can’t wait until this hits theaters. Check out this Hunger Games movie trailer.

And they’re turning Janet Evonovich’s books into a movie, One For The Money. I love these books, they’re the kind of books that once you start reading them you just can’t put them down. I’ve read at least seven of them, and then stopped for some reason. I’m going to have to pick them back up and start over in anticipation of the movie. I remember six or seven years ago when I started reading them, there was talk about a possible movie even then. It’s nice to see it finally come to fruition. It’s hard to find too many ACTUAL movie details on-line, I just googled it, but I do have a movie synopsis for you here.

Katherine Heigl brings Stephanie Plum – the popular heroine of Janet Evanovich’s worldwide best-selling sixteen-book mystery series – to vibrant life in Lionsgate and Lakeshore Entertainment’s ONE FOR THE MONEY.

ONE_1Sht_27x40_V16_RGBA proud, born-and-bred Jersey girl, Stephanie Plum’s got plenty of attitude, even if she’s been out of work for the last six months and just lost her car to a debt collector.  Desperate for some fast cash, Stephanie turns to her last resort: convincing her sleazy cousin to give her a job at his bail bonding company…as a recovery agent.  True, she doesn’t even own a pair of handcuffs and her weapon of choice is pepper spray, but that doesn’t stop Stephanie from taking on Vinny’s biggest bail-jumper: former vice cop and murder suspect Joe Morelli – yup, the same sexy, irresistible Joe Morelli who seduced and dumped her back in high school.

Nabbing Morelli would be satisfying payback – and a hefty payday – but as Stephanie learns the ins and outs of becoming a recovery agent from Ranger, a hunky colleague who’s the best in the business, she also realizes the case against Morelli isn’t airtight. Add to the mix her meddling family, a potentially homicidal boxer, witnesses who keep dying and the problem of all those flying sparks when she finds Morelli himself…well, suddenly Stephanie’s new job isn’t nearly as easy as she thought.

Starring Katherine Heigl, ONE FOR THE MONEY is a fresh, funny action-comedy directed by Julie Anne Robinson and also starring Jason O’Mara, Daniel Sunjata, John Leguiziamo, Debbie Reynolds and Debra Monk.  Lionsgate and Lakeshore Entertainment present a Lakeshore Entertainment Lionsgate Wendy Finerman production in association with Sidney Kimmel Entertainment Abishag Productions. Directed by Julie Anne Robinson.  Screenplay by Stacy Sherman & Karen Ray and Liz Brixius.  Based on the novel by Janet Evanovich.

I’ve also read rumors on-line about Lionsgate bringing What To Expect When Your Expecting to life in the theaters possibly in 2012. It’s being kept tightly under wraps right now.
