Johnsonville Italian Sausage Pizza Loaf Recipe

I made this recipe as a challenge with some of the people I’ve met that work at Johnsonville. They told me that to make a meat loaf with italian sausage I would have to do half sausage and half hamburger meat and I said nope, I’m going to make the sausage work and I did. My husband likes it so much he said we have to call it pizza loaf because meat loaf just isn’t good enough for what I created. So here is my Italian Sausage Pizza loaf and I’m using it to enter the Italian Inspiration recipe contest on the Johnsonville Kitchens Facebook Page.

The contest asks you to post a photo of your unique “Italian Inspired” recipe incorporating Johnsonville Italian Sausage. The grand prize is a culinary trip for two to Abruzzo, Italy courtesy of CookingVacations.com! Here is my recipe:

There we wrapped presents for charity and learned even more about Johnsonville Kitchens and all the fabulous things you can do with sausage. I can’t wait to try a new meatloaf recipe. I’m creating one tonight, it’s going to be unique! Hopefully my family will say delicious instead of that’s interesting.

Sausage Stuffed Mushroom Bites Recipe

Another great recipe I got to try on my recent visit to Johnsonville was the Sausage Stuffed Mushroom Bites. These Mushrooms were AMAZING. I think it’s my favorite thing I ate during my time in Milwaukee. That and the White Chocolate Alcohol but that’s another story entirely. The mushrooms end up coming out so juicy and the stuffing is good enough on it’s own. So if you don’t like mushrooms just use this sausage cream cheese mixture on something you do like.

Ingredients:

48 medium large fresh mushrooms
1 package Italian Sausage Links
1/2 cup crackers
1 8 ounce package of cream cheese (room temperature)

3 garlic cloves mincedIMG_5081

Remove and discard mushroom stems
Place mushroom caps on foil lined baking sheets
Remove Sausage casings
Cook the sausage in a skillet until no longer pink
Add the crackers
Remove from heat and set aside
Combine the rest of the ingredients except for the mushrooms
Then add the sausage to the mixture
Stuff each mushroom cap with the mixture and bake 14-16 minutes until mushrooms are lightly browned

This cookbook has more than 125 recipes for on and off the grill from Johnsonville Sausage. It’s been a few months and I finally tried one of the recipes and it was a huge success.

Why Johnsonville Italian Sausage Will Change Your Life {Italian Sausage Meatball Recipe}

A month ago, yes I’m a serious slacker, I went to Milwaukee to visit with Johnsonville to discover that Johnsonville is about much more than grilling. Cooking sausage can be done easily in the kitchen and we tried it as a family last night and it was delicious, but before I reveal to you my version of Italian Sausage Meatballs, I want to share with you how Johnsonville makes Italian Sausage Meatballs.

image

This is Bob’s signature recipe and I tried them and they are pretty darn good, I could do without the onions, but I think most people think I’m un-American because I don’t cook with onions in my house. Now you have to watch this video:

I took this video and the background noise is a little loud and I can’t find my software to edit it out. I hope you can hear the conversation, because Bob, is so fired up about Johnsonville Italian Sausage in person that you have to hear his passion.

Johnsonville takes really great Sausage and put all the spices you need for any Italian Sausage recipe. So when making meatballs all you need are crackers and eggs.

Check out their Italian Sausage Meatball Recipe:

1 Egg Lightly Beaten
1/3 cup Bread Crumbs
1/4 grated Parmesan cheese
1/4 cup milk
1/4 cup onion (you know this would not fly in my house, which is why tomorrow I’ll have Our revised recipe)
1 pkg Johnsonville Mild Italian Sausage Links

Directions

Preheat Oven to 350 degrees
In a large bowl combine the egg, bread crumbs, Parmesan cheese, milk and onion
Then you need to remove the sausage from casings, before you start cooking watch this video with Melissa d’Arabian and how to remove Johnsonville Italian Sausage from the casing easily.
Add the sausage to the mixture
Shape into meatballs and arrange in a baking dish
Bake for 20 minutes or until the meatballs are cooked all the way (160 degrees)
Then Serve over your favorite noodle and sauce.

Disclosure: Johnsonville paid for all of my trip expenses to Milwaukee.

How to Make Johnsonville Sausage Rainbow Kabobs with Coos Coos

This recipe is really easy and can be changed to any preference. All you need to do is pick out the veggie you like and what type of meat you want. We chose Johnsonville Sausage, in particular the Bedder Cheddar Smoked Sausage and cheese , then we chose some new veggies and fruit and an old favorite. Let the kids pick out some of the fruit and veggies so they feel involved.

Rainbow Kabobs

How to make Kabobs without skewers

To keep the flavors from mixing (if you have a picky person like me) I got out two glass dishes to cook in.

Ingredients:

Red Peppers
Eggplant
Tomatoes
Pineapple
Apples
Bedder Cheddar Smoked Sausage and cheese

1) Preheat oven to 400 degrees
2) Cut up veggies and place in glass dish
3) Spray veggies with nonstick butter spray (or douse with some olive oil)
4) Cook for 10 minutes
5) Now cut up fruit and cut up the sausage
6) When timer goes off add the fruit and sausage in it’s own glass dish or in the same dish as the veggies
7) Flip the veggies
8) Cook for 10 more minutes

Prepare Coos coos according to directions on the box.
