I had MOMS Club over again today, it was the last time before my surgery on Thursday. I love entertaining and anything that makes entertaining easy is wonderful. So it was nice to have this on hand. I had a large crowd today. We had 8 moms total and two kids per mom so that was about 15 kids. One of the moms only had one, but that’s 23 mouths to feed and most the time moms don’t bring snacks. I don’t expect them too. I always have enough food for everyone. My blog is keeping my MOMS Club fed. ;-)

Anyways, I made the quiche and cut it up into slices so that others could try it. The kids didn’t eat it, a few moms tried it, but I forgot to ask what they thought of it. I ate two of the slices. I liked it, I liked that it wasn’t too rich. Sometimes Quiche can be very rich. This was just right, it wasn’t even loaded up on salt. I had the spinach flavor and liked it.  I really just love how the preparation is so easy. Making a Quiche can take quite a bit of time when you make it from scratch. Yes, it’s even tastier that way but who has the time to make a quiche? Nancy’s takes all the work away.

Not me.

I have the coupon to give one away.

Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwiches and Pop Chips for lunch

popchips

Today we had Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwiches for lunch and I realized that we needed a little something to go with it. I reached into the pantry and grabbed a bag of pop chips. With only 100 calories in each bag we can each have our own bag but today I chose to split the bag three ways. My kids have no preference to what flavor we have, I on the other hand liked all of the flavors but one. The original flavor is a little lacking in flavor. I think a little more salt would be nice, but I could just get the barbeque. The barbeque flavor is my favorite, next would be parmesan cheese. YUM!

Popchips sent us a sample of each flavor to try. I never noticed them in stores before this sample was sent to me, now I see that they are at my favorite grocery store Albertsons. Pop Chips are not baked, not fried but simply popped using heat and pressure, and they have a small blend of seasoning added to it.

Now I love Corn Tortillas La Tortilla Factory Review

I must first begin with telling you that I love tortillas. I have eaten corn tortillas so often growing up that I was sick of them. Sick! I still use flour tortilla’s quite often in my own cooking now though. I like to try different brands because I’m looking for healthy and tasty. So when La Tortilla Factory contacted me and asked me to do a review I said I would love to.

About La Tortilla Factory:

latortillafactoryWe are a family of employees committed to satisfying our customers’ needs through innovative and great tasting products that contribute to a healthy lifestyle.
Sounds simple, doesn’t it? This is the mission Grandma and Grandpa Tamayo began La Tortilla Factory with, and even today, in an age of cheaply manufactured, low-quality, processed foods with ingredients no one can pronounce, it’s what we do every day. We’re proud to bring you quality foods with healthy ingredients, and Grandma and Grandpa Tamayo would be proud too.

They arrived much faster than I ever expected them to. I opened up the corn tortilla’s and served them to my children and took a bite of one as I was making it. And I couldn’t’ stop. We ate them as a meal until they were gone. I think I got three meals out of them. We had ham and cheese and then we had steak and cheese. Yumm.

Hand Made Style Corn Tortillas are available in Yellow Corn, White Corn and Chipotle flavors, these corn tortillas are the first of their kind to be nationally available and offer a unique blend of corn and wheat. The flavor we tried was the yellow corn. I can’t wait until I find the chipotle flavor. This authentic corn tortilla product is soft and flexible – attributes not often associated with corn tortillas and are perfect for grilled chicken, fish or veggies. I did find that it was extremely soft and moist. They are available for a suggested retail price of $1.99-2.49 for an 8-tortilla pack, these premium tortillas contain 90 calories, 14 grams of whole grains, no hydrogenated oils and 0 grams trans fat.

We were also sent a bag of

MultiGrain La Tortilla Factory’s Smart & Delicious EVOO SoftWraps™ are an easy way to ensure your family is eating well over the busy summer months and are a great way to liven up lunches on the run! Tomato Basil, Rye, Whole Wheat and Multi Grain are just a few varieties available in the line. At only 90-100 calories/wrap, they won’t be making a huge dent in the diet and they’re a great way to fit in whole grains. (The Multi Grain variety contains 13g whole grains, while the Whole Wheat adds a whopping 22g/serving!) La Tortilla Factory products are superior to other wraps and tortillas on the market with more fiber, yet fewer carbs and calories than traditional breads and tortillas. Plus, as an extra bonus, the company does not use lard or trans fats in any of its products making them the perfect fit for any busy family!

I haven’t had a chance to try them out yet. We can only eat so much at a time you know.

La Tortilla Factory wanted me to share this recipe with you.

[me] & goji cereal review

[me] & goji - sample mix 3

Oh yes it is as fresh as this picture looks. It was wonderful. I would say that it’s even better than the other company that I reviewed last month. Yes they sent me a free sample but I’m still working on my last sample and this one is almost gone.

[me] & goji is a site where you can build your mix or pick a custom mix. I picked a mix and loved everything I put in it and the best part was the surprise in my children. If there was something that one of them didn’t like then the other one liked it and vice versa. Of course I was more than pleased to finish anything that they didn’t want.

My favorite addition to my mix was the chocolate covered goji berries. My daughter Zoe kept calling them chocolate chips so she didn’t even know what she was eating something that was semi-healthy. I’m amazed at how many options there were. I’m really impressed.

The nutrition information is included as you build your mix, you can also find out the individual nutritional information, for example the goji berry according to their site:

health benefits: 11 essential and 22 trace dietary minerals – Rich in antioxidants, particularly carotenoids such as beta-carotene and zeaxanthin – 18 amino acids – 6 essential vitamins – 8 polysaccharides and 6 monosaccharides – 5 unsaturated fatty acids, including linoleic acid and alpha-linolenic acid beta-sitosterol and other phytosterols – 5 carotenoids including beta-carotene and zeaxanthin, lutein, lycopene and cryptoxanthin, a xanthophylls – numerous phenolic pigments

It was much easier to make selections, I feel that they have an excellent well laid out site. I love dragging the options to the food bowl. You should check it out, it’s fun to order and to eat. Create your mix.

Peter Organics Fruit Pouches are yummy

peter_rabbit_organics_logoPeter Rabbit Organics sent us some free samples to try. They were yummy and so easy.

peter_rabbit_organics I gave my daughter the Mango Banana and Orange puree flavor at the park as a snack, She drank the puree up like it was the best thing ever. I was shocked at how fast it was gone.

I gave my son the Apple and Green Puree and he’s one, he was able to suck it out of the package in the same amount of time his sister did. He wanted more, well they both wanted more.

We all shared the Strawberry and Banana Puree in our oatmeal one night for dinner. MMMM.

I would have to say that this is a mom approved item. Another mom was at the park when we were there and she marveled at how easy it was for the kids to eat on their own. It made no mess. She also wanted to know what it was.
