Decorating Made Easy with Scotch Restickable Shapes

DSC00134

We received Scotch Restickable Shapes to try out in Miles’ room. Well we could use them in any room but Miles really felt he was ready to hang up some art work in his room. He just finished drawing some awesome Lion King pictures and I was quite excited to help him hang them in his room. However, the 3M Scotch Restickable Shapes surprised me as he was able to do most of it himself.

Scotch Restickable Strips, Tabs and Colored Shapes offer the convenience of pushpins and putty without leaving behind holes, marks or messy adhesive, and, unlike magnets, Scotch Restickable mounting products work on stainless steel refrigerators and most flat surfaces. We used them on our textured walls and they still worked quite well.

3M’s unique adhesive makes it easy to hang Miles’ artwork among other things like schedules and party decorations. They are also great for holding things in place on the mantle place or while outside. Ever have the wind try to blow away your tablecloth, use the restickable strips to keep your tablecloth secure.  They give you the flexibility to remove and restick items more than 10 times, helping save money and time. You simply wash the products with soap and water to restore their stickiness.

I opened the package and read the simple directions. the main thing I learned from the directions was how to reuse them. After several uses you might have to remove dust and lint by rinsing them off and letting them dry. Then you’re good to continue hanging things on the wall.

I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of Scotch and received Scotch Restickable products to facilitate my review and a promotional item to thank me for taking the time to participate.

Decorating Kids Rooms with Lockers

locker I remember when I was at Sears Holdings Corporation and they were showing us their back to school line and they had rooms set up. They had quite a few different things like cinder blocks. I used cinder blocks in my room to put the bed up higher. Lots of people did. You’ll do anything to get more storage out of a little room.

Well, since I’m remembering those rooms and how they were set up, and I have new rooms to decorate. I was thinking about lockers. Lockers could be a fun way to decorate a room. I’m not talking about school lockers. I only want one locker, I’m not going for the lined up look one after the other. Just a cute storage idea. Something modern and unique.

I really like this blue one pictured here. I think that could be cute in a little boys room. You could paint it with a baseball theme and center the whole room on a sports theme. I’m starting to get excited here. It’s too bad his memaw has already started making pillows and blankets out of cars and trucks because I’m really digging the baseball sports theme for his room now.

Get him some balls, well he already has three baseballs, and put the glove we have in it. I’m sure I can find him a cheap plastic baseball bat too. I would print his name in paint in red. I’m really running with this one. I’ll have to take pictures if I do go this direction.

This particular wood locker is quite expensive. So maybe by the time I can afford it I’ll be able to put it in his room and not worry about him locking  himself in. I mean, my little man can do the unthinkable in seconds. I’m learning so much about boys now that I have one. I mean they are trouble to a “t”.

I don’t want to sound like I’m bragging or anything but I love having a new house. There are so many possibilities and I still haven’t even put anything on the walls yet because I don’t want to put a new hole in yet. I need to start decorating the kids rooms so they don’t look so boring. I just don’t know quite where to start.

A new yard to landscape, a new house to decorate, to use planters or not

IMG_1769 We moved into our new house about two weeks ago. I still have boxes here and there but we’re mostly unpacked. There are a few things still that need organizing and I need a lot of decorating to go around. Right now on the fireplace I have a glass vase full of fake flowers. I need to get some real ones. Perhaps I could use a planter there instead.

I found this site called Planter ixchange and found some really cute planters there.

I need to add some color to the walls. Perhaps I’m going to leave the color addition to objects for now. I don’t have time to paint while I’m chasing my two little ones. Hanging some planters in the windows would freshen up the outside.

All PlantersWith our new house we  got a very cute small land area with a very small back yard. Thank goodness it’s small that means very little upkeep. I have a ton of options when it comes to landscaping and adding plants to the indoors and outdoors. I’m not very good with plants indoors. Keeping up with planters, indoor planters and outdoor planters is not my forte but I could always get creative with what I put in them. I could go a little more modern and use the planters for other things around the house like the toys. I’m a genius. This box would make a great modern toy box for the kids. I mean they want to climb into everything anyways..

I think outdoors though its a lot easier to water them. You can just turn on the sprinkler and let it go for a while. Then when you remember go turn it off. At least in the climate we live in it rains a lot. Maybe that’s why my plants outside live longer than the indoor plants. I just don’t know where to begin almost with all the options I have. I mean the whole house inside and out is like a canvas just waiting for me to decorate it.
