I’m so excited to start working with The California Wine Club again. This time it’s going to be a little different instead of just reviews of the wine we’re going to be pairing it up with food and cooking with it. I have no knowledge of wine, I just like to drink it. People ask me all the time, what do you like, I don’t know. I’ve never paid attention to it before. I’m going to start paying attention and taking you along for the ride.
Talking with some friends I found that some wines are best for pairing with food. Food brings out their flavor. Really, I didn’t know this. They also told me that other wines are great for drinking on their own. If they are really light and smooth then they are really easy to just drink otherwise you’re supposed to pair them with cheese dessert or steak. ![]()
California Wines just sent me two new wines this month and I can’t wait to uncork them and enjoy them. It looks like I’m going to be making steak to pair with this Three Saints Steak House Red Wine. This red wine is a Cabernet Sauvignon dominated blend accentuated with Syrah, Merlot, Malbec, and Cabernet Franc. This estate wine showcases punchy aromatics of crushed blackberries, dusty graphite and mulled spices. The palate is full and structured with dark berry flavors and warm spices, and a long finish. I’m going to have to keep a diary and my thoughts on Cabernet Sauvignon. A friend also told me that I should store it on it’s side instead of upright. You can keep up with my thoughts on The California Wine Club with my California Wine Club Diary as I start to discover different wine groups, how they pair with food and recipes I can create with the wines. Tip: Wine is good used in the crock pot. I learned that at The Kenmore blogger Summit.
