Movie Night Easter Edition: VeggiesTales & Here Comes Peter Cottontail Giveaway

This morning I find myself listening to VeggieTales and loving it. The new VeggieTales CD Hosannna will be released on March 8th and it’s wonderful; the perfect way to teach your children popular praise and worship songs. As I’m putting this post together I’m listening to Everlasting God. Everlasting God is one of my favorite songs that we sing in church on Sundays. I’m moved every time I sing it as it lifts my spirit and makes my heart happy. Yes really! The kids like it too, so adults and kids can enjoy the same music!

Thanks to The Morris + King Company for Classic Media and Big Idea Entertainment I received Veggie Tales Hosanna, VeggieTales Twas the Night Before Easter and Here Comes Peter Cottontail.

It’s Easter time in Crisper County and cable news reporter Marlee Meade (Petunia Rhubarb) is hunting for a way to help others. On a tip that the old town theater will be shut down, Marlee cooks up a plan to save the stage and make a difference through the power of musical theater. With a cast of costume-clad townies, massive props and a 20-foot robot rabbit – “Up With Bunnies” is hatched! There’s only one thing missing – the star of the show!  When news spreads that singing sensation Cassie Cassava (Melinda Doolittle) is arriving to perform in her hometown church’s Easter service, Marlee gets worried.  Concerned about the competition, she schemes to steal the starlet for her own pageant! But when things go haywire, will it be curtains for Marlee’s dreams – or will she discover the true meaning of Easter and what helping others is really all about?

We learn something every time we watch VeggieTales. Easter isn’t about bunny rabbits and chocolate it’s about Jesus!

Funky Kidz CD giveaway.

fk FUNKY KIDZ was created by Lauren and her 12 year old son.  The album features 12 of New Orleans’ finest artists (Nevilles, The Radiators, George Porter Jr., Theresa Andersson and more)doing funked up covers of classic kids songs we all know and love like Zip a Dee Doo Dah, Yellow Submarine and the funkiest rendition of Hokey Pokey you ever heard. Listening to this CD with my daughter has been quite a treat.

I love the Hokey Pokey, I have been doing it with her since she was 6 months old. In her swimming class when she was six months old we would do it in the pool. Now she’s getting balance and learning how to pick her feet up. It’s just great dancing to this song. It’s so fun.

We also love You’ve got a friend in me. She bounces and sways as we sing together. My son, he bounces and squeals. I love it it’s so cute.

A portion of proceeds for CD sales goes toward fostering music education in New Orleans. Check out www.funkykidzmusic.com

Faryl Smith CD giveaway

Faryl Smith has a very relaxing sound that my kids and I can sway to. This is my kind of music. I listened to it four times in a row last week when I opened my cd. I just love her voice and sound. Her voice just doesn’t sound like she could possibly be only 13 years old. I’m absolutely amazed. I love her grace, beauty, and elegance. I think it all resonates in her music. If you believe it or not, I did write the above comments before watching the judges opinions. ;-) You can purchase her music on Amazon

I found this and I wanted to cry: She is amazing: Even Simone thinks so.

Fayrl-Cover-Art900 ‘FARYL’ – Tracklisting

1) Amazing Grace
2) The River of Light (Blue Danube)
3) Ave Maria
4) Annie’s Song
5) A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square
6) Mother of God, Here I Stand
7) Shenandoah
8) Brahm’s Lullaby
9) Calon Lan
10) How Can I Keep From Singing
11) Somewhere
12) The Way Old Friends Do

River of Light has been written by Ivor Novello winning writer Frank Musker and is based on The Blue Danube by John Strauss – one of the most popular tunes of all time. The melody is loved around the world but no one has ever heard it like this before.

No doubt one of the album’s hidden gems is The Way Old Friends Do written by Abba’s Bjon Ulvaeus and taken from their 1980 classic Super Trouper album. Bjorn personally changed the lyrics to suit the young star.

“…ordinarily Abba are very strict and never sanction lyric changes, but with Faryl, Bjorn offered to change the words personally” (Tom Lewis  – UCJ)

Hanna Montana Movie Sound track giveaway

hannah-montana-poster

Have you taken your daughter to see the newest Hannah Montana feature in the theater. Mine is still to young to even know who she is.

I was in line last week getting clothes for my children and I heard a mom talking about leggings. She said, my daughter refused to wear these. She just won’t put them on. So, I told her, Hannah Montana wears them. Oh, she does? Well, then of course I’ll wear them. So now she wears leggings just like Hannah Montana.

I’ve seen her on Dancing with the Stars on ABC with her father. I am from the Don’t break your heart era.

I watched the Mickey Mouse Club when Brittany Spears and Justin Timberlake and Christina Aguilera

HannahAlbumArtEarly were all on there singing together. At least I don’t live under a rock though, because you would have to live under a rock to not know this new singing sensation. I will make one embarrassing anecdote though. I was honestly confused at first. I did not realize that Hannah Montana was Miley Ray Cyrus. I thought they were two different people. Ooops

Ice Skating to Dancing to Singing?

Two seasons ago I watched Kristi Yamaguchi win the Dancing with the Stars. Now it seems that ice skating and dancing should go hand in hand. They are both very athletic sports. The instructor Mark he was the one that worked with Kristi and they worked very hard and I loved watching it. I haven’t seen any of Dancing with the stars on ABC this season or last season. I heard that Derek won last season. I have just been too busy with both of my kids to watch much tv. I do get to listen to music though and apparently Mark and Derek can sing. I guess if you look at music artists they sing and dance, but Ball Room is a completely different kind of dance.band11 I listened to Their CD, Ballas Hough Band and it sounds like the same kind of music you will find watching the show Dancing with the stars. I can hear the beat to the ball room dance but it’s very fast and upbeat. It’s great music to dance to, but it’s not my kind of music to just sit and listen to anymore. I’m not old and boring either. It just wasn’t for me. It sounds like a boy band to me, I guess that makes sense since it has four men and one girl singing. I actually think it’s just more publicity for the show. That’s just my opinion. I’m going to listen to it a little more and decide if I want to keep it or give it away. I hope people don’t mind winning a used cd if I give it away.
