David Archuleta The Other Side of Down Giveaway

Sometimes, I post things because I have a good relationship with a PR rep. This is one of those times, I haven’t received the CD yet so I can’t write up a review. Sometimes, I think I’m the only one in the world that isn’t watching American Idol. My parents watch it, both my mom and dad even though they live in different states, they sit down with their families and watch it. So I know they know who David Archuleta is. So does most of America I would say.

David Archuleta’s 3rd studio album titled, The Other Side of Down will be released on October 5th.

“I’m really looking forward to releasing this album. Most of the songs on the album represent thoughts and experiences that I’ve personally gone through,” says David. “I hope this album helps people understand more of where I’m coming from as an artist and as a person.  It’s about moving forward in life, making progress in accomplishing your goals and dreams while appreciating what life has given you.”

DA_photo1Earlier this year, David Archuleta earned the distinction of the “Best American Idol ever” in a Billboard magazine reader poll. Archuleta was the American Idol Season 7 runner-up in 2008, and he’s widely known for his exceptional vocal talent and charismatic boy next door charm. The 19-year-old Utah native received accolades for his self-titled 2008 debut; People magazine observed, “There’s a surprising freshness to his pop CD.”  The album contained the hit song “Crush,” which has sold over 2.3 million digital units to date, and went on to sell over 750,000 albums.  Last year, he released a seasonal album, Christmas from the Heart and it is certain to become a holiday staple for years to come.

In June 2010, Archuleta penned his first book Chords of Strength: A Memoir of Soul, Song, And the Power of Perseverance which debuted on the New York Times Best Seller list.  The autobiography chronicles lessons he’s learned in his young life so far and encourages young people to follow their dreams.

Elvis’ 75th Anniversary CD Good Rockin’ Tonight #giveaway

Elvis 75 (1 CD)I have received a press release and I have not opened it for fear that I won’t be able to give it up. I can’t rip it open because I want to give it away on my blog. To me, this is an awesome giveaway. Sometimes, I want to enter my own giveaways. Elvis is one of the best artist’s out there regardless of how he lived his life. His music is much celebrated and something I love. I remember in college, my best friends were huge Elvis fans, part of the reason is because two of them were from Memphis, home of Graceland. Not only were they from there but my roommate’s mother works there. The four of us all visited Graceland and it was great. There is a lot of history in his life, not just his history but he lived through a lot.

Wizard’s of Waverly Place going to the movies CD #giveaway

WOWP-Cover-900jpgHave you noticed that being on a Disney TV Show means that you must be able to sing. That’s right, the characters that are on the TV Show The Wizards of Waverly Place can sing and this is the CD that is inspired by the TV show and their upcoming movie.

Wow a movie and a TV Show and they can sing. It’s not surprising since that’s where Brittany Spears, Justin Timberlake, and Christina Aguilera all came from originally as well. My sister told me I was old since I know that information. OMG, I was in shock that she said that.

So I made her listen to this CD with me today. I told her I have to review it. So we listened to it on our way to Dallas.

The show recently ranked as the No. 1 TV series for kids. Anticipation for the “Wizards of Waverly Place” upcoming film and release of the soundtrack is running high. So what did my sister and I think?

I thought it was great, oh wait, people thing bloggers that do reviews should use some other word that great. I thought it was simply musical and tween oriented. I mean, it’s good, it’s music that makes you want to move and it’s all about magic. I’d have to say that my favorite song was between Do you believe in magic, and Magic (The Cars). It made me want to dance but I was driving so I had to try to concentrate on the road.

Traveling is messing with me!

clip_image001I’m out of town still and will be for quite a while, so some of my review items are in transit or going to the wrong place, or are going to be lost. A few items are arriving to the correct address but this CD was not one of them. So, giving  you a review is going to be terribly difficult.

I did receive a CD, according to my husband, who stated that he doesn’t think this is something I would enjoy. Well, I am a child of the 80’s and I know these songs.

He is a new voice on the kids’ music scene, and his debut CD comes with impressive credentials.  Set for a July 7 release, Sweets ‘n’ Treats, was produced by two-time GRAMMY nominee, children’s musician Buck Howdy. But before I tell you about the music you need to get to know the artist

 

About Tracy Singer:

tracy singer A consummate professional trained in the “Great American Songbook” tradition, Tracey Singer has, for many years, enjoyed a very successful solo career as vocalist/pianist, performing pop and jazz standards in an array of settings ranging from restaurants, clubs, and performing arts centers to corporate and private events.  

While maintaining quite an active performing schedule, Tracey is also an at-home dad to four children under age nine!  He explains, “After one child turned into two, three, and four, the overwhelming influence that those kids had on every second of my life convinced me to turn, musically, to writing and performing music for the one audience I have come to know best – children”

With that many children he must know what’s going to entertain them.

 

SWEETSNTREATSCoverArtSweets ‘n’ Treats is a humorous CD with music for children. Now I didn’t like the first song which is actually the title song Sweets ‘n’ Treats. It’s for kids, my two little ones liked it and shook to it but not me. I did like Stinky Joe. Anyone who can sing to children and tell them that smoking is bad gets an A+ in my book. His style is all over the place with some children as background and some with a rock and roll feel. Overall, it’s a CD I can add to our queue of music.

    KennyCover900I was reading in one of the forums I like to read. Momdot Forum how one of the girls is interviewing Kenny Loggins. I was thinking who is that?

    DUH!!!

    He wrote Return to Pooh Corner, Top Gun’s Danger Zone, and Footloose.

    Disney Records Mitchel Musso CD giveaway

    MMcovRaw I’m a Disney Music Fanatic and sometimes it embarrasses me but at least I have children now so I can listen to it and use them as an excuse. So I was listening to “Hey” and I like it. It’s the kind of music I like to listen to. Upbeat  and fun, my one year old is bouncing at it.
