The Popcorn Factory 50.00 #Giveaway

December 16, 2009 · Filed Under giveaway · 562 Comments

Popcorn

There is always a tin of popcorn when it comes to celebrating the holidays. Those bins of popcorn are the “unwanted” presents under the tree that still find themselves emptied in no time. I certainly don’t need the calories but I have been enjoying the caramel popcorn out of the trio tin that the Popcorn Factory sent to me. My husband has been eating all the other flavors. He doesn’t like the caramel so more for me. ;-)

Chocolate Defines your personality 50.00 GC #giveaway sponsored by Fannie May

December 14, 2009 · Filed Under giveaway · 665 Comments

What kind of chocolate are you? Fannie May has compiled a list of chocolate personalities. My favorite type of chocolate is dark chocolate so let’s see if the personality fits:

Based on research compiled by Fannie May my dark chocolate personality is:

Dark chocolate = Dark Chocolate, with the highest amount of antioxidants, is the perfect gift for someone who has had a hard year, or is just a Grinch!

Hmmm, I’m not sure this fits me but secretly I do think I’m a Grinch, or at least I’m a tight wad. I hate spending money. That’s probably something I haven’t shared, my deep dark secret. I love to spread joy though, so it’s a toss.

Here is the entire chocolate personality list:

Fannie May Chocolates

  1. Dark chocolate = Dark Chocolate, with the highest amount of antioxidants, is the perfect gift for someone who has had a hard year, or is just a Grinch!
  2. Milk chocolate = Milk chocolate is best matched with innocent child like or innocent personalities. Choose this type for younger ages or for the kid at heart!
  3. White chocolate = Fits the personality for someone who is gentle and timid, with a ravenous sweet tooth. White chocolate is a perfect gift for shy types
  4. Mint chocolate= Both mint and onions stimulate the same nerve (The nerve that makes you cry when you cut onions) and show a person’s ability to endure stress. Mint chocolate is best matched with stable and strong personalities, for your friends and loved ones who always “ seem to have it together” (Mint Meltaways)
  5. Fruity chocolate = This personality likes to step outside the box; fruity chocolates, such as raspberry and strawberry, are the perfect gift for the quirky type.
  6. Chocolates with nuts = Ideal for someone who enjoys a challenge or an adventure; choose nutty chocolates for your loved ones who continuously test the limits. (Pixies)
  7. Caramel Chocolate= Since the delicious gooey caramel that seeps out of a delicious chocolate casing is so difficult to eat, caramel lovers tend to be patient, tolerant and detail oriented. The ideal gift for teachers!
  8. Someone who enjoys surprises? Of course, you can always create your own special assortment of chocolates at your local Fannie May store or at Fanniemay.com

1-800-Flowers Interview and Giveaway

May 7, 2009 · Filed Under giveaway · 253 Comments

1-800-Flowers offered me the chance to interview Julie Mulligan. Julie Mulligan has over 25 years experience creating floral arrangements. She has designed for weddings, celebrities, and for instructional videos. She has appeared on The Montel Williams Show, Extra, WABC Eyewitness News, and NBC’s Weekend Today.

Julie Mulligan writes her own blog at http://blog.1800flowers.com/julie/.

How would you decorate with flowers with a very modern and straight line theme?

I like color but I don’t like filler and baby’s breath.  Gerbera daisies are the way to go for a modern look – they are great without filler. The stems are beautiful and look great in any shaped glass vase.

How can people like my sister would LOVE flowers, keep their home decorated with flowers but not break the bank?

First of all, proper care and handling are essential. Be sure to always have clean water in the container. Change the water every couple of days and give the flowers a fresh cut on an angle. Also, be sure to use flower food in the water. Remove flowers past their prime. As the flowers die, cut the stems shorter and put them in a smaller container. By following all of these steps, your flowers are sure to last and your home will look beautiful without breaking the bank.

Where can you get the flowers and what helps flowers stay fresh longer without molding? (in WA we have a mold problem too much moisture in the air)?

Don’t mist your flowers and keep the water level low. If you keep the water level low, you must remember to add water more often.

1800 You can win a gift card or gift code for $30 for 1-800-FLOWERS.COM, which is perfect for their Every Mom Counts Collection, which is a selection of 30 gifts under $30.

Send mom some flowers for Mother’s Day, you know she’ll love them.
