Cars 3 will be in theaters on Friday June 16 and you might be wondering if it’s worth going to the theater to see. The short answer is yes, yes it is.
The long answer is also yes. Cars 3 is the third installment in Pixar’s Cars legacy. The first film everyone loved, the second film not everyone loved (my family did, it was a great action cars movie) and this third one is a leap back to the first.
My expectations were low because from what everyone was saying, Pixar is just telling the same story as the first movie, but that’s not entirely true. This one hits a little closer to home, it’s a different story. It’s a new lesson for Lightening McQueen and a new lesson for girls. Girls have to believe in themselves and sometimes we need help believing in ourselves and I think Pixar did a good job at telling this story. Without getting into all the spoiler plot points that are probably out there if you go looking for them Cars 3 satisfies all ages.
Pixar has always excelled at providing humor on the slapstick child level, to clever puns to even more clever adult humor. I’ve already watched it twice and know that if I saw it again I would find even more humor. Also, Pixar is always pushing the boundaries of technology bring animation to the point of realism where you really feel like you are there in the scene.
There is one scene I felt like it looked like the Smoky Mountains, and another time when they were going down the highway it and felt so real. Pixar focuses on family friendly entertainment at a high bar and they surpassed it again.
