Christmas in July: SodaStream Giveaway

Now this really is like Christmas. SodaStream sent Tracy and I both a machine to review. Now I haven’t heard what she likes most about it yet, but she did tell me that her husband is in love with it. LOL.

Me, I love soda, coke is my favorite, next comes Dr. Pepper, unless you can find a bottle of imperial sugar DP. Then I’m in love and nothing comes next to it. So after coke those two I would have to say that I love sprite. Yes I love soda, well, once I had kids I gave up soda. Mostly. We don’t keep it in the house the same way we used to, but whenever I’m out at someone else’s house and they have soda, I LOVE it. So I drink their soda.

Sodastream was at the green fair last year and I was really interested in it. I love how you can make it at home, it has fewer calories and sugar in it, and it comes in a smaller portion than a 2 liter does. So I can make just enough and put some in the fridge and not worry about it getting flat before I have the chance to drink it all.

The SodaStream can be broken up into four different components.

The plastic machine base: Jet Soda Stream

The plastic bottle and CO2

The Soda Mix

Now you might think I’m a little crazy and that’s ok, but I’m afraid of CO2 containers. I’ve seen too many action movies where they use them to explode other things so, I made my husband test out the entire process. Again, I must stress when I let my husband review things, he does not read the directions. Please read the directions unless you want to be cleaning up water from all over the floor.

Directions:

Take off the lid of the CO2 and Attach the CO2 to the plastic base

Fill up plastic bottle with water up to the line and Screw it on tightly

Press the pump at the top of the plastic base and hold it down until it buzzes (repeat 3 times)

Then be sure to enjoy your soda!!

Christmas in July: Oreck Air Purifier Giveaway

Last week with the Christmas in July Giveaway series I concentrated on all of the reviews. This week, Tracy is the lucky gal that is getting to review the items. My husband and I have been discussing the need for an air purifier. We all have allergies in this house and we have a house fan. I’m not sure if you know what that is or not. New houses are built so sealed up that you have to run a fan once a day to make sure that you are circulating the air. It probably also has to do with the fact that we use gas, but I’m not entirely sure. We run it at night and in the morning we are all stuffed up. So it is driving us crazy. We are also considering getting a dog and dogs kick up all kinds of dander. So, we’re wondering if we should get an air purifier.

Christmas in July K’nex Giveaway

We worked with K’Nex once last year. They sent us the Elmo’s Building Set to review on Mom Start. We decided it would be better suited as a donation, only because my kids get so many toys to review with me being a product review blogger. Every day the UPS truck comes my daughter asks, is that for me? So we have to donate most of what we get and most charities will not take open toys.

I have played with K’Nex and sold their products at the store I worked at before having children. They are a time honored toy, that stimulates creativity. Build the toy illustrated on the package or use your imagination and build something entirely new.

PBS KIDS: Triple Feature, Super Why! Martha Speaks, Caillou

Picking content for my children to watch is very difficult. I want to know the the program is educational and has clean content. PBS is one of the only networks that I let my children watch programs from. PBS Kids sent us a few DVD’s to review and for me to choose to giveaway or pass out. Well, of course I want to share them with my readers.

Super Why! I never realized that when we were at Zoe’s grandmother’s house that she actually watched Super Why!. I found out just last week that she did watch it because she was talking to me about Super Readers and Super Why! How they tell stories and read letters. She wanted to read the letters.

We also watched Martha Speaks and Callilou, but I know that she said her favorite was Super Why!

Christmas in July: iSi Flex~it Measuring Cup Giveaway

I always find it very funny when I get a review opportunity after my husband has gone out and purchased it. We have been looking for large measuring cups for a few months now. Our Pyrex measuring cups have lost their markings which makes them no longer any good at measuring. So we were nervous to go with Pyrex again and it was hard to find the sizes we wanted anyways. Do people not like glass anymore?

Well, why should you when silicon exists?

iSi has many consumer and foodservice products for making food at home or in a large restaurant. Their consumer products include, cream whippers, soda siphons, chargers and much much more. So my husband went into Williams and Sonoma the other day while we were out at the mall and he purchased the three set of the Silicone Flex~it Measuring Cup Set.

He has already used them. He used them to make special muffins for me. We had Chocolate Chip Cheesecake chocolate muffins. MMMMM. I loved them too much so I had to get them out of the house. I shared them with all of the neighbors.

The recipe needed measuring, but what I noticed that my husband did was that part of the recipe called for you to keep the cheesecake mixture and the chocolate mix apart. So he put the mixtures in the isi Measuring Cups and used them to poor the mixtures into the muffin tins. OH, it was so easy because the silicone is so flexible.

They are dishwasher safe and you could bake in them if you wanted. They are heat resistant to 490 degrees F.

Christmas in July: Vivabox Giveaway

Christmas in July is still shelling out gifts and we have some very exciting things coming up. For instance, have you ever heard of a Vivabox before?

A Vivabox is a themed gift. You pick out the theme of your choice to send to your friend and then they get to finalize the details after they get the box. Inside the box will be the samples. For instance, they sent me the Fun With Photos Box.

This Vivabox came with a Gorillapod, which is pretty cool except that it won’t work with my digital camera, my camera is way too big for it. But it works with my video camera. My husband loves to play with gadgets so I’m excited to let him play with it.

Then after we are done taking photos, we can use the gift card to order a fun item with our photos on it.

options The hardest thing for me anytime I have the option to create something, is picking out a photo. We take 1000’s of photos a month. Yes we really do. We love looking at our kids. So now I get to put them on something like a mouse pad, photo mug, or a pillowcase.

Christmas in July: Medela Nursing Bra Giveaway

Having a Christmas event we wanted to try to make sure that we had something for everyone. So I asked Medela if we could do another Nursing Bra Giveaway. Why, because I love their brand so much. I used the Medela Pump In Style for all of my breast feeding needs. I wasn’t working, but if I wanted to leave Zoe with her dad for any length of time then I needed to pump before hand. I had quite a back stock of breast milk thanks to this pump. I wish I was giving away a breast pump. Now that would be awesome.

Medela offered us a nursing bra. Since I’m no longer breast feeding and will not be breast feeding any time in the future, I decided to donate the bra they sent me to charity.

My Impressions from when I did use Medela

The bra is easy to open and close for feeding and it is made of a light material. It is soft and easy to clean. Unlike some of the other brands there are more sizes available so you can find a closer more comfortable fit. Which is important I found because you need the support from all of the weight and more control always kept me from leaking. Of course I never went without pads and they were always full. I made a ton of milk with my first and none for my second. Sizes available:
