Did you know that September 4 was National Bacon Day? I had no clue until our friends at Smithfield let me know. Mmm… bacon… I’m going to let you sit and think about the amazing smell of bacon cooking… the great crispy crunch it gives when you bite it… and the wonderful salty, smoky flavor it has…. Mouth watering yet? It should be! 😉
I grew up enjoying Smithfield products. Every Christmas we had Smithfield Country Ham for breakfast (and usually a few meals following for all the leftovers!). Especially since being back in the South, I have definitely rediscovered my love for all things pork – including bacon!
My husband claims that bacon is one of the 2 ingredients that can make pretty much anything better. I have to say, I kind of agree. There’s something about the salty crunch of bacon that just adds that little bit of deliciousness (and yes that is a word) that makes an unforgettable dish.
With that in mind, and an amazing Smithfield bacon prize pack in hand, I decided to celebrate National Bacon by Baconize-ing (yes, that is also a word…;)) a “normal”, non bacon recipe. What does that mean exactly? I took some Smithfield amazing Hometown Original Bacon and added it to a normally non-bacon recipe.
So what recipe got baconized? What family meal in our house got taken up a few notches on the delicious scale thanks to a little Smithfield bacon? Don’t worry, I’ll be sharing that recipe soon! That just means you have to keep an eye out for it!
I know National Bacon Day has already come and gone, but I kind of think any day is a good day for bacon. While you’re waiting to find out what recipe I baconized, why don’t you enter to win an AMAZING Smithfield Bacon prize pack! They sent me one and I LOVE it! Follow the directions in the Rafflecopter and you can celebrate National Bacon Day with us!
