No Sugar Chocolate Chip Cookies Recipe

By Summer:

One of my New Year resolutions is to cook with no sugar for my family. Most of my baking goes to work with my husband (so you will still be getting sugary recipes from me), but for the few goodies that stick around I want them to be healthier than normal sweets. I have posted other low sugar cookie options, but this one offers NO SUGAR ADDED. You’ll also notice I’ve used whole wheat flour. My next goal will be to replace the extracts with actual vanilla bean (which I’ve only worked with briefly before) and almond which might be difficult for the desired intense flavor.

No Sugar Chocolate Chip Cookies Recipe

½ cup honey
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon almond extract
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 large eggs
1/3 cup ground flaxseed
¾ cup quick oats
2 cups Hodgson Mill’s Whole Wheat Flour
1½ semi-sweet chocolate chips

1. Preheat oven to 350oF.

2. Combine all ingredients into your Kitchen Aid stand mixer using the flat beater attachment. (I add my ingredients in order of appearance in case you’re interested.)

3. Place a dozen “drop cookies” onto a cookie sheet and back for 10 minutes.

  9. Yum. I am diabetic these would be better than the ones with sugar. What can be used in place if the flaxseed? They sound good.

  22. Sounds great, but don’t the semi-sweet chocolate chips have sugar in them?

  23. Made these last week and they were a hit. My boyfriend, whose a diabetic, went to Japan for business and I put a little tin of them in his suitcase. He loved them, I’m making more for his homecoming. I love that there are no artificial sweetners in it either, just the taste of the chocolate chips.

  24. I absolutely love your recipe!!! I have this for breakfast now every day!!
Thank you so much for posting this recipe!

  25. I noticed the recipe still has honey in it – which is great if you are against sugar substitutes – but if you are Diabetic or are doing low carb I can offer this one as well; truly sugar free for those that need it. Seeing your recipe today is making me think I need to make cookies for my crew again! :)
