Craftsman 255 Piece Craftsman Mechanic’s Tool Set

Oh wow, so many tools in one place, I’m currently at the Craftsman DIY blogger event and I’m in the process of putting together a post for everything I saw today, WOW. Sears is the place to find all of the coveted Craftsman brand tools and with Father’s Day coming up, you might want to just head on over there and check out the selection. If you want a heads up on what to look for, try finding the 56-piece Craftsman Universal Tool Set, or the Craftsman NEXTEC™ 12V Cordless Drill/Driver, and be on the lookout for a brand new innovative item the 51-piece Craftsman MAX AXESS Mechanic’s Tool Set.

Last week, my husband and I received a 255-piece Craftsman Mechanic’s Tool Set on behalf of Sears and Craftsman in honor of the “Dads Making a Difference” contest held by Sears Blue Tool Crew in honor of dads helping out their communities. You can nominate any dad who is actively helping out his community. To Nominate someone, you’ll need to put together a 250-word-or-less essay and submit a photo. A panel of judges including Ty Pennington, well select 10 finalists and America gets to vote on who will win a very special visit from Sears Blue Tool Crew to help with an ongoing project or new community project to make a big impact in the winner’s community. Opening all of the tools and placing them in the toolbox was he biggest puzzle I’ve competed in a long while. My husband and I set out reviewing the 255 piece Craftsman Tool set  as a family with the kids involved, it quickly became a no don’t touch that, that’s already in the right place, OMG we’re never going to get all of these pieces in the right place. Well we were wrong and the kids had a blast even with all the yelling and exasperations. We found a home for every piece and discovered it’s a very complete shiny tool set. Craftsman has such a quality look to it, which is why most people want that brand.

IMG_0742IMG_0743

Comparing it to my husband’s tool box set he received quite a few years ago, the Craftsman set wins hands down. I mean, Craftsman tools are hearty heavy tools, the tool set is quite heavy, while his other tool set isn’t.

If you still want more Craftsman ideas for Father’s Day consider the Craftsman NEXTEC™ 12V Cordless Multi-Tool and the Craftsman Right Angle Impact Driver. Of course, I’m quite interested in many of the Craftsman NEXTEC tools after visiting with Craftsman at the Craftsman DIY blogger day, and I’ll have much more information regarding that fun event for you in the coming weeks. Who know, I could use power tools, and not only use them but fall in love with using them.

Stay tuned for more details about DIY projects and Craftsman Tools coming out soon! Just in case I miss something and you don’t want to Like the Sears Blue Tool Crew Facebook page via Facebook, and Follow the Sears Blue Tool Crew Do It Together Team on Twitter @BlueToolCrew.

Disclosure: I received the tools, and was also invited on a trip to learn even more about Craftsman after I agreed to do the product review. I grew up around Craftsman tools and have heard about how good they were so I was quite excited to learn even more and accept the all expense paid trip to Chicago to visit Craftsman studios. Thank you Sears and Ace on behalf of Craftsman.

Did Miss Piggy and Kermit Ever Get Married?

With the new movie The Muppets, I found out that Miss Piggy and Kermit aren’t happily together forever. Walter, who happens to be the world’s biggest Muppet fan is focused on bringing the whole gang back together it. Fozzie now performs with a Reno casino tribute band called the Muppets, Animal is in a Santa Barbara clinic for anger management, Gonzo is a high-powered plumbing magnate, and Miss Piggy is a plus-size fashion editor at Vogue Paris.

clip_image001The fact that Kermit was in the states while Miss Piggy was in France made me wonder if Miss Piggy and Kermit ever got married? Miss Piggy has had googly eyes for that cute green frog forever and I couldn’t tell if it was completely one way or not. Seems like Miss Piggy was strong willed enough that if she wanted a marriage it would have happened right?

Maybe they didn’t handle pre marriage counseling very well. And maybe they did get married and they could have used Mort Fertel (marriage counseling) from Marriage Max. Marriage Max specializes in saving marriages. And maybe they never really got married. Perhaps Miss Piggy was just too career oriented and decided she couldn’t have both. All I can picture, is Miss Piggy with her feather boa wrapped around Kermit and how could he resist that? I guess even for muppets there is more to marriage than a feather boa inspired marriage.

I’ll be in Hollywood later this week watching the Muppet movie footage courtesy of Disney. With secret, signature, celebrity cameos, “The Muppets” hits the big screen Nov. 23, 2011.

Food Should Taste Good… And Boy Oh Boy Does It! Almost as Good as Their Amazing Giveaways!

clip_image002A couple of years ago, before mommyhood, my husband and I made a pretty conscious decision to eat healthier. We started buying more natural products and cut out a lot of the junk that was part of our regular diet. After having my son, my awareness of natural products was definitely amped up! I work hard to try and have as many natural things as I can for all 3 of us while sticking to a tight budget. One of the hardest things to replace healthily and naturally is snack food. There is nothing like curling up on the couch with a bag of chips while zoning out into some mindless television (not that any of us necessarily have much time for that… but you know what I’m saying…).

clip_image004 I was recently sent a sample of Food Should Taste Good’s newest flavored chips. I was able to try the White Cheddar and the Toasted Sesame. I have to say, the name of the company says it all. Food SHOULD taste good, and this company makes sure that it does. Their products are made with high quality natural ingredients. There are so many perks to these chips (some might call them crackers). This is a partial description from the Food Should Taste Good website:

All chip varieties are gluten free, cholesterol free, have no trans fats and do not use genetically modified ingredients (GMOs). They are also certified Kosher, low in sodium and are a good source of dietary fiber. The chips combine the crunchiness of a chip, the crispiness of a cracker, and the dippability of a tortilla chip.

clip_image006My truly unbiased opinion is that this product holds true to all of its claims. These are not going to be like your “normal” potato chip. They are not thin or greasy. In fact, the Food Should Taste Good chips are very hearty. They have a deep grain flavor and texture. The cheese on the White Cheddar variety is delicious, just like REAL cheese. The Toasted Sesame variety is definitely best with some type of dip (try hummus or salsa….YUM!). These are definitely a snack worthy of a curled up on the couch TV session.

Food Should Taste Good has great deals and promotions on their website, including a $1 off coupon. They even have a Food Should Taste Good Facebook page. You should definitely check that out for some great giveaways.

Not only does Food Should Taste Good provide healthy, natural, snacks, they also recently launched Let’s Summer. From now until September 5, Food Should Taste Good will be giving away 100 prizes a day to their fans. Prizes include portable Weber® Q® 100 gas grills, Creative D100 Wireless Bluetooth Speakers, FlipTM video cameras, iTunes® gift cards and of course, plenty of Food Should Taste Good chips!

From now until September 5, Food Should Taste Good munchers will find a 7-digit entry code on the top right corner of all Food Should Taste Good brand products. You enter your 7-digit code at LetsSummer.com.

Happy snacking! Good luck in the giveaways! =)

Make It Your Mission to Go Red for Women

A friend of mine in MOMS Club has been touched by heart disease. Her father had a heart attach and she’s made it her mission to raise awareness for the Go Red for Women campaign. If you don’t remember reading her story here is a small excerpt:

While lots of my friends know about my dad, many do not know about my aunt – my dad’s sister. She had her first heart attack a year prior to my dad at the age of 47. She also survived her heart attack and has made important changes in her life to improve her health.

So…it is clear to me that heart disease is in my bloodline. I am 33 years old. I am a mother to my two-year-old daughter and am expecting my second daughter in July. I am married to my high school sweetheart and have no plans to leave this earth in the next 15 years, God willing. So what am I doing to keep myself heart-healthy?

Read the rest of Lisa’s story here

RecipesForHeartWe should educate ourselves and those we love about heart health. Heart disease is the number one killer of women in the U.S., but there are ways to prevent it. Merck, a national sponsor of the Go Red for Women campaign, wants to remind women that there are steps they can take to lower their risks.  Current statistics show that one in three women die from cardiovascular disease and this program is designed to lower those numbers.

Heart disease has already touched you or someone you love. So today and every day, make it your mission to stop heart disease. Give your network the power to save their lives and keep your heart – and the hearts of other women in your life – healthy:

  • Make sure you and the women you love take the American Heart Association’s (AHA) Go Red Heart Check-Up to determine your risk of developing heart disease and be sure to talk to your doctor about your Check-Up results.
  • Or sign up for BetterU, the AHA’s free 12-week online program that provides tools, tips and information to help women take the right steps to a healthier lifestyle.

As a way to encourage  all of you to improve their heart health, MMC on behalf of Merck is happy to share five heart healthy cookbooks  with us to giveaway to you guys.

Entertaining with Cache Valley Dairy Yogurt Dip

I keep thinking life will slow down, but if I was truly honest with myself, I wouldn’t’ have it any other way. We’re always busy at my house, and I’ve always been busy and on the go, for as long as I can remember. I grew up with parents that loved to entertain and I love to entertain, which means there has to be LOTS and LOTS of food around. If You’ve been keeping up with me, you know I love to try new products and Cache Valley Dairy recently sent me samples from their Dairy.

image

Cache Valley sent us the Garden Vegetable yogurt dip and their French onion yogurt dip. The flavor was spot on with a surprising kick. All of the party guests were surprised by the extra “kick” in the Garden Vegetable Yogurt dip, but it didn’t stop them from eating it all. In fact it might have helped encourage them to come back for more just trying to identify what that extra kick was.

Cache Valley Diary opened it’s doors in 1937 and has dedicated themselves to providing the best dairy possible. They not only create wonderful dairy products, cheese, butter, and yogurt dips, but they also try to provide a community. Be sure to follow Cache Valley Dairy on twitter, and like Cache Valley Dairy on facebook.

Survive Stretch Marks with MUSTELA

Pregnancy brought me some nasty stretch marks. I went way overboard when it came to eating for two. I was ALWAYS starving and at one point I was actually eating for three. When Zoe was 6 months old I became pregnant with Miles and I decided to continue breastfeeding Zoe until the last possible moment. I can’t blame one pregnancy in particular though for the stretch marks, I got them with the first pregnancy and then I was even larger with the second one, so my tummy, although small enough for a bikini now, isn’t suitable for a bikini because of the stretch marks. Know how much weight I put on? I went from 140 to almost 200 lbs, that’s 60 lbs people babies are not that big. Thus, I have stretch marks.

clip_image001I think after the fact there is only so much you can do for stretch marks, so I’m not really into trying to fix the problem. I did use a few lotions while I was pregnant but it wasn’t to prevent stretch marks, it was to relieve the itching. Pregnancy made my tummy itchy. I knew about MUSTELA and the possibility that it would prevent stretch marks, but I’m AWFUL at any kind of daily beauty regimen, and I was convinced, yes convinced I wouldn’t get any stretch marks. HA! was I wrong about that.

Mustela has a kit just for pregnant moms that want to minimize the stretch marks and hydrate their skin during pregnancy. And my favorite part about Mustela is how wonderful it smells. I LOVE the Mustela brand, I may not have used the Mustela stretch mark survival kit on myself, but I did use their products on Zoe and Miles. They have a full baby line too!

The Mustela Stretch Marks Survival Set is available exclusively at Nordstrom’s.  For additional information and retail locations, please visit www.mustelaUSA.com or call 1.800.422.2987. “Like” MustelaUSA on Facebook and follow MustelaUS on Twitter for the latest and greatest from the brand!

Entertaining with Simplicity Alouette Spreadable Cheeses

I love cooking and making things from scratch, but being a mother of two that loves to travel and blog about every aspect of our lives, I just don’t have time to make things from scratch all the time. Thinking outside of the box the other day, I came up with this quick and easy Spinach and Artichoke Pinwheels recipe and shared it with all of you. I actually thought my kids would turn their noses up at it, but they loved the Light Spinach & Artichoke spreadable cheese from Alouette. And because it’s 50 % lower in fat, and 30 % lower in calories I was quite comfortable letting them have a little bit more “dip” for their carrots. They love to eat raw carrots when they have something to dip them in.

Spinach & Artichoke Pinwheels

Maybe you’re going to be having a grilling party or even just a few friends over one night this summer and you want to liven up that hamburger but you just can’t figure out how. Consider using one of Alouette many spreadable cheeses instead of mayo or ketchup.

Greg Gable, Executive Chef for Alouette, has created new recipes and serving suggestions incorporating the new Light Spinach & Artichoke. Alouette also offers recipes, serving suggestions, entertaining tips and nutritional values on www.alouettecheese.com. Gable first acquired critical acclaim during his 13 years at Le Bec Fin, one of Philadelphia’s finest dining institutions. He has also received several accolades, such as the Philadelphia Inquirer’s 3 Bells Award of Excellence and the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence.  Gable is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, N.Y.

The Jetsons Meet The Flintstones is coming to DVD on June 14

Today you might notice that I’ve been spending the day remembering Saturday morning cartoons. Of course, the cartoons as I remember came on Sunday mornings too, and during different days of the week, just depends on whose house I was staying at while I was growing up, mom or dads. I would watch the Flintstones and the Jetsons all the time, and when they combined them in a movie, I was ecstatic, and not disappointed. Now you can relive your memories of watching The Jetsons Meet The Flintstones as Warner Brothers is releasing this cute movie of the future meeting the past on DVD.

Jetsons_FlintstonesIt’s the wackiest animated adventure of all space-time when the world’s favorite Modern Stone Age Family comes face to face with the First Family of the Future in a matchup that only Hanna-Barbera Studios can delightfully make possible! Thanks to Elroy’s malfunctioning tie machine, the Flintstones and Rubbles are zapped into the robot-run future while the Jetsons suddenly find themselves in the dinosaur-filed past. Can our fearless families adapt? And more importantly, will they ever get back home? Find out – in a time-hopping animated feature-length romp packed with all the gags, gadgets and nonstop fun unleashed when The Jetsons Meet the Flintstones.

As I’m sitting here with my husband writing up this review, he got all excited because he too remembers when The Jetsons Meet the Flintstones came out at the movie theater. He actually saw it in the theater. See, I can’t remember if I was watching this at my mom’s house or if we went to see it in the theater. We probably rented it. It’s the perfect combination of two classic cartoons. Picture Fred Flintstone in a flying car with a maid, and George Jetson without his luxury. It’s a really cute movie and it’s quite fun to reminisce.

Own The Jetsons Meet the Flintstones on DVD June 14th.
