Nutella Pound Cake Recipe

I recently met Paula from Bell’alimento who mentioned that she had a blog all about using Nutella. So I had to go visit her site when I was having a Nutella breakfast party with other moms for lots of recipe ideas. From one site to another I found something, one of the recipes I found that I set my heart on trying to make was the Nutella Pound Cake Recipe. My only issue with the recipe was that I used the wrong type of pan and a lot of the mixture fell out into the oven and it was a big stinking smoking mess, oh it’s always an adventure of some kind when I’m cooking in the kitchen. Anyways the recipe is originally by Deborah Mele and I wanted to share it with you all here with any changes I may have made as I was cooking it.

Nutella Pound Cake Recipe:

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
4 large eggs
3 Teaspoons Pure Vanilla Extract (an extra teaspoon than the original recipe)
1 Teaspoon Baking Powder
1/2 Teaspoon Salt
2 Sticks Butter (softened)
1 1/4 Cups sugar
3/4 cup Nutella (1/4 more than what the original recipe called)
3 heaping Tablespoons Unsweetened Cocoa Powder

Preheat the oven to 325 degrees.
Lightly grease a 9 x 5 pan.
Combine the butter and sugar until fluffy in a mixer. Then add the eggs one at a time, then add the vanilla.
Mix together all of the dry ingredients (flour, baking powder, salt) Then combine it with the egg mixture.
Remove 1/3 of the mixture and add the cocoa and the nutella.
Pour half of the remaining mixture into your pan, then place the nutella mixture into your pan, then top with the remaining mixture. You can swirl it all together as much or as little as you like. I prefer less.

Bake the cake for about an hour or until the knife comes out clean. Cool for 15 minutes then remove from the pan.

 

It’s a really great recipe and everyone who tried it really seemed to like it. I suggest for best results eat with a spoonful of nutella.

50,000 American Express Membership Rewards Points for Redemption

With the American Express Membership Rewards Program you earn one point for every dollar you spend. There is no limit to the number of points you can earn and you won’t lose them because they will not expire. SO if you’re saving points to fly, you don’t have to buy magazine subscriptions like I usually do with my airlines flyer miles I get just for flying. Once you’ve racked up the points then you can redeem them quite easily, that is you can make up your mind. I have quite a bit of trouble picking out certain things. I mean you can use them for retail purchases and access to dining and entertainment events. You can use them to book travel or transfer points to frequent flyer and guest programs. And you can use points toward Gift Cards and Certificates. I liked how I broke up the 25,000 American Express Membership Rewards Program Points into categories so I’m going to give you ideas from different categories again. What is your Spring Celebration? #Cleverspring

Shutterfly wants to know what your Spring Celebration is?  Shutterfly birth announcements and save the date cards inspire me to celebrate Spring because I find that the newness of events and babies being born reminds me so much of the newness of Spring. You know it’s Spring when all of the trees start to get their leaves back, everything turns green from rain, and the flowers are budding to blooming. There are sings of Spring from top to bottom.

We celebrate Spring with lots of outdoor time and flowers. You’ve heard the saying April showers bring May flowers, We’ve been drenched with the rain and any day the sun comes out we RUN outdoors to enjoy that Spring Time Sun and the flowers are already in bloom, regardless of the fact that it’s only April.

I love the Tulips in the yard, they remind me of how beautiful La Conner is. La Conner Washington has a Tulip festival from now until mid may I think. Just fields and fields of tulips. Going there is one great way we like to celebrate Spring. Now the kids have a different idea, The kids have been all cooped all winter long and love to just get out on their bikes.

Other activities the kids enjoy flying kites, chasing rainbows and drawing chalk drawings on the sidewalk.

For me personally, Spring means school is almost over, and my birthday is right around the corner. The whole month of May is one big long celebration for our family because shortly after my birthday is Mother’s Day and my husband deemed the whole month as mine, which I can’t complain with. Last year just a few highlights of our celebration were home made ice cream and flowers just for me.
