At BlogHer 2010 I met with Jimmy Dean’s The Sun. The sun is a big golden light that all the planets revolve around and he has all kinds of information and knowledge about breakfast. The Sun commercials are quite humorous and when I tell people that I met the sun, they laugh! Not because it is a crazy thought that I met The Jimmy Dean Sun, but because internally they are remembering one of those commercials.

 

 

I had a lot of fun talking to the Sun, we chatted for about 30 minutes while the camera men were getting set up. I was most intrigued by the fact that he lived in Washington State for a period of time.

At BlogHer everyone had the opportunity to taste new Jimmy D’s breakfast foods. We were some of the first people to ever try them. They are lower in calories than you would expect any out of the box, into the microwave breakfasts could possible be.

griddlesticksThe New Jimmy D’s Griddle Sticks:

These have 7 grams of protein, 8 grams of sugar and only 6 grams of fat. They are sausage wrapped up in a pancake with only 160 calories.

The New Jimmy D’s French Toast Griddlers:

Toast GriddlerThese have 8 grams of protein, 6 grams of sugar and 8 grams of fat. They are french toast sandwiches with turkey sausage in the middle with only 210 calories. Remember that the sandwiches are bigger in size than the griddle sticks.

I tried both of these at blogher, and when I didn’t know how many calories were in them, all I did was have a bite. I was very worried about over eating while I was at the conference so I had a little bit here and a little bit there. I could have easily gotten away with eating the whole thing. After trying both samples, if I had to pick a favorite it would be the Griddle Sticks.

What do you think should be in an emergency kit I have lots of ideas and might have missed something, or maybe I went way overboard. I just want imageto know what you think.

When looking for a basic emergency kit, make sure it has things your kids use all the time, bandages, gauze, Tylenol, Ibuprophen, anti-biotic ointment, alcohol wipes, gloves, scissors, medical tape.

ALPHA & OMEGA in Theaters Friday September 17th Movie Giveaway

clip_image001We were invited to a pre-screening of the movie ALPHA & OMEGA this past weekend and were unable to attend because the kiddos were sick. I have been watching the previews and trailers on-line and in the theater for Alpha & Omega and it looks pretty cute. Alpha & Omega will be viewable in the very popular 3-D atmosphere if that’s something you are interested in but it will also be available on a normal screen too. We love movies with talking animals. The kids just enjoy it a great deal. I wish we would have been able to watch it, I guess we’ll just have to go when everyone is feeling better, or watch it when it comes out on DVD.

Secretariat Based on a Remarkable True Story Giveaway

I read a preview about Secretariat while I was stranded in an airport with my kids. Hah! It looks like a great movie. The actors are amazing, the line up is amazing and the story is amazing.

The story:

Based on the remarkable true story, “Secretariat” chronicles the spectacular journey of the 1973 Triple Crown winner.  Housewife and mother Penny Chenery (Diane Lane) agrees to take over her ailing father’s Virginia-based Meadow Stables, despite her lack of horse-racing knowledge.  Against all odds, Chenery—with the help of veteran trainer Lucien Laurin (John Malkovich)—manages to navigate the male-dominated business, ultimately fostering the first Triple Crown winner in 25 years and what may be the greatest racehorse of all time.

Notes:

  • In 1973, Secretariat became the first U.S. Triple Crown champion in 25 years, setting race records that still stand today in the Kentucky Derby and the Belmont Stakes.
  • Penny Chenery, now 87, is an integral resource in the making of the film.  She also appears as an extra in one of the film’s scenes. 
  • In 1973, Secretariat graced the covers of three magazines the same week:  Time, Newsweek and Sports Illustrated. 
  • Director Randall Wallace, whose directorial credits include “We Were Soldiers,” is the Oscar®- and Golden Globe®-nominated screenwriter of “Braveheart.” 
  • In 1999, the U.S. Postal Service unveiled a 33-cent postage stamp with Secretariat’s image.

Monday Mingle Guilty Pleasures, What is Your Guilty Pleasure?

Today’s Monday Mingle From Eighty MPH Mom is about your guilty pleasures. Hmm, this could be quite an interesting topic for some. I didn’t answer the first question on the video. I probably should have just said the craziest thing I did. When I was in collage, I got on a plane to visit my ex. I really wanted to go see him so I hopped on a plane and had his friend pick me up, it was a very very bad idea. My ex had a new girlfriend and the friend that picked me up was hitting on me and yeah, it was bad. Worst thing was that when I tried to get home before my mom noticed I was gone, the flight had been canceled. So I had to beg the airlines to find me a flight home so I wouldn’t get caught. Luckily I made it home safe and sound. Crazy and impulsive, that was me once upon a time before kids!

image I had to blog about this because this is a stock your freezer type of sale. My husband and I love Tillamoock ice cream, heck, we love almost everything Tillamock makes. We get super excited when Tillamook ice cream is on sale for 2 for 9.00 so when I saw the sale I grabbed three and am currently considering going back to Albertons to purchase more on Tuesday before the sale ends. Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep PSP Video Game Giveaway

Kingdom Hearts Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep is being released on the PSP, and I really wish it was coming out on the Xbox 360 so I could play the game. The game looks mystical and magical and the graphics look pretty cool. It screams Disney magic and I want it! Apparently, KINGDOM HEARTS Birth by Sleep is the latest installment to the hugely popular KINGDOM HEARTS franchise. Kingdom Hearts BBS features a wide range of Disney characters and worlds having shipped more than 14 million copies worldwide. The game was developed and published by Square Enix and there will be an exclusive, limited-edition PlayStation Portable bundle.

This game is the must-have prequel and is easy to play, even for players new to the series like me, as it will reveal the origin stories of KINGDOM HEARTS. The game features never before seen Disney worlds and characters ranging from Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella to Lilo and Stitch and Peter Pan. It just sounds so cool and perfect for the Disney Fanatic! It is Final Fantasy meets Disney World.
