The Black Cauldron 25th Anniversary DVD Review

When the Black Cauldron arrived on our door step Zoe just had to watch it. She saw the girl on the DVD cover and assumed that it was Sleeping Beauty her favorite princess. I told her that it wasn’t but she couldn’t be persuaded. So we decided to watch it.

black-cauldron Right away I found the movie to be very dark it was scary I thought. Zoe told me she liked it though and wanted to watch it. So the main character’s name is Taran, and he is an apprentice to a pig keeper. He is out taking care of the pig, trying to give her a bath and then she starts acting funny and runs away. So his teacher tells him to bring her inside and then Taran’s world is turned upside down.

Soon he finds out that magic exists and it is his job to take care of Hen Wen the pig. This movie reminds me of Care Bears, both were made about the same time, and have evil magic in them with good prevailing. Taran becomes so much more than just an apprentice with his adventure. He falls into the hands of the evil bad guy, meets a princess with an attitude and becomes friends with a furry little creature that lies a lot.

What did everyone think of it?

Zoe liked it a lot and wanted to watch it again. She loves anything that has a princess in it and the princess’s dress was pink/purple which made her an even better princess. Zoe is a girly girl and loves watching female characters no matter how small their part is.

Miles, well he was a little bit scared and had to climb into my lap. He said it wasn’t too scary so it must be ok and my idea of scary as a mother is much higher than what the kids actually find to be scary.

My thoughts, it defiantly took me back to the time it was created. 25 years ago was quite a long time, however, it still was very colorful. I was surprised at just how colorful everything was, but that’s Disney for you! They are always ahead of the times and keeping things updated. We watched all of the extras too and I was surprised that the extras kept the kids attention. Also, just so you know, I have no knowledge of the books that this movie is loosely based upon.

Tinker Bell and The Great Fairy Rescue Review

clip_image001[4]Disney sent me on an adventure in California a few weeks ago allowing me to have an early preview of the movie Tinker Bell and The Great Fairy Rescue. I actually have never seen any of the other Tinker Bell Movies. My daughter has been asking about them for quite a while and I purchased one but by mistake picked out the none-blu-ray edition and had to return it. I never picked up the other edition and we’ve missed out on the whole adventure. However, I was completely able to watch the movie without being lost. You can find Tinker Bell And The Great Fairy Rescue on Blu-Ray starting September 21st.

clip_image001Tinker Bell finds herself going to the mainland for Fairy Camp. She is quite excited and when she arrives there is nothing for her to Tinker with. So when a human motorized car passed by she had to go check out how it worked. Vidia, as many of you may no her is not very easy to get along with. For some reason she decided to follow Tinker Bell to try and keep her out of trouble.

Tinker Bell loves to find lost things, but trouble likes to find Tinker Bell. As Tinker Bell was discovering new things, she stumbled upon a house built for Fairies. Vidia told her to leave but she went right in. The house was built by a little girl named Lizzy and as Tinker Bell was fixing a watch, Lizzy returned. Oh and I forgot to mention that Vidia slammed the door shut so Tinker Bell was trapped.

Lizzy takes Tinker Bell home and the true adventure begins. Tinker Bell becomes friends with this little girl and together they fix a family!

I was so impressed with the graphics and how well the movie was put together. There was so many things that Tinker Bell did with Lizzy that Zoe would love to do. The flying, the learning how to fly even, or what about when Lizzy traced Tinker Bell. That had to be my favorite part of the movie. We trace our kids on the sidewalk in chalk all the time. So now whenever we trace Zoe, she wants wings attached so she can be a fairy. Then Zoe loves to color herself in. It was just a fascinating tale of exploring the mind of a child. It was heartwarming and colorful taking me places I haven’t been in a long time. If you want to go back to childhood watch Tinker Bell and The Great Fairy Rescue.

Product Description:

Before she was ever introduced to Wendy and the Lost Boys, Tinker Bell met Lizzy, a girl with a steadfast belief in fairies.  Tinker Bell and the Great Fairy Rescue begins in summertime in
the beautiful English countryside. An enchanting encounter unfolds when Tinker Bell is

curious girl in need of a friend.

New Hostess Muffins For On The Go

We received a package of the Blueberry Muffins made by Hostess. They are a new set of muffins with more fiber and lower in calories than most. You can find these new Hostess muffins now available in stores everywhere. And if you can’t they should be there very soon.

image Each 10.5 ounce package includes six individually wrapped muffins. Each Hostess muffin provides a good source of fiber and is 150 calories. Hostess’ new muffins are available in Blueberry, Banana Nut and Chocolate Chip varieties. I’m not too fond of the Blueberry flavor. I found the blueberries way too chewy, in fact, I didn’t like it so much that I didn’t finish them. My kids however, liked them just fine. I think it’s more of a kids snack anyways, but I would love to get my hands on a imagebox of chocolate chips. I do feel that Hostess has a successful track record of baking delicious better for you snack cakes.

In addition to Hostess’ new muffins, the brand offers Hostess 100 Calorie Pack snacks, which have been highly successful and rank among the most popular snack cakes in the category.  Hostess’ 100 Calorie Pack line includes Hostess 100 Calorie Pack Chocolate CupCakes, Hostess 100 Calorie Pack Twinkie Bites®, Hostess 100 Calorie Pack Coffee Cakes, among other varieties.

Bishop Family Destin Florida Trip Summary in Pictures

Zoe and Miles had a great time in Florida with Mimi, Papa Mark, and Gran. The weather was hot and humid. We stayed as busy as possible for all seven days. The trip was shortened a bit by the unexpected delay in Dallas, but we managed to have a good time in spite of losing a day.

Sittin’ On the Dock of the Bay Great Grandmother, Gran has a house on the bay and we were playing on her boat dock, discovering blue crabs and hermit crabs.

Miles loved pushing the stroller. He wanted to take everyone for a walk every day and another one every night before bed time.

A nice walk The Walk was quite a long walk for such little legs. We walked and had to have a break. Then we went back home for dinner. The only bad thing was that I went in my bathing suit and forgot to put sun block on my back. I was a crispy purple red. Thank God the kids were well covered in sun block. I’m just now feeling better from the burn.

Did You See The Smith Winter Mitchell Ads Debut During Mad Men?

So, did you see the smart advertising with Mad Men? I missed them just as I missed Mad Men, but I remember seeing a ton of tweets about how Good Mad Men was. One of my favorite PR agencies sent me this information and I wanted to know what your thoughts were on it?

smith winterThe Smith Winter Mitchell Agency stands for many things, but no mission is more important than always expanding the creative and entertainment boundaries of advertising.  Recently, Smith Winter Mitchell Agency has hit a hot streak landing a host of big accounts, which include Dove, Breyers, Hellmann’s, Klondike, Suave Hair, and Vaseline. All really great brands if you ask me.

The six vignettes aired during the show and are available online, in various places including on a dedicated Smith Winter YouTube channel, which can be found here: www.youtube.com/smithwinter.

Check out the Breyers Ad:

The historical angle of the branded vignettes plays perfectly in the context of the series, as the vignettes were created specifically for the environment in which they will air. I think it’s right out of a man’s world. Do you notice how the woman is wearing pink and brings all the color to the room? Makes me wish I watched Mad Men just to laugh at it.

What did you think? Yeah, I’m in an advertising mood today if you can see the theme with the posts. LOL.

I received a few product samples in exchange for this post. This in no way affects my opinion.

What Do You Think of the New Kindle Ad?

Idea Submitted by Dad Start (the other parent in the house).

We have tried the Sony Reader, the Kindle 1 & 2, and the Nook. My favorite is the Kindle, and my husband’s favorite is the Nook but only because the Nook has a clock. So Kindle, if you put a clock on the screen then my husband will buy your new Kindle and we’ll both be able to share our library again. ;-)

I know in this commercial they are poking at the iPad, which I have not had the pleasure of reviewing. I keep thinking I should just go out and buy one, but I just can not justify the price. With no camera, no multitasking, and no GPS, I just can’t figure out WHY, I should have one other than the novelty of owning one and let me tell you, we don’t make enough money to just HAVE one.

The iPad features that do interest me would be the interactive touch, the Apps, the touch keyboard, I’ve tried it and like how well it recognizes my strokes. I also love the idea of watching my movies wherever I am, but I can do that on my laptop. As a reader, just buy the Kindle. I have no need for the iPad.

What would you buy?

V8 V-Fusion & Tea Review and Giveaway

The V8 drinks have come a long way from just V8 and I’ll let you know that I’ve always enjoyed drinking the original V8. There is something about tomato juice that I actually love. So from adding fruit to now adding tea, V8 combines fruit, veggies and tea to make a nice blend.

V8 wanted to do something fun and different to introduce their new beverage, so they created the Tea Bottle Song. You can view the V8 V-Fusion +Tea Bottle Song flash performance on Youtube, as well as on the new V8 V-Fusion Facebook page, and I went ahead and posted it right here so you don’t have to leave the site.

You might still want to explore the Facebook page, because it is the hub for all things V8 V-Fusion. In the coming months lots of things will be  updated,  including their current giveaway of 1,000 V8 V-Fusion®+Tea samples per week!

I tried the tea and liked it. I found the Pomegranate Tea to be a little on the sweet side. I expected more of a bitter taste, so I considered adding some water to it, but I didn’t. There are three different V8 V-Fusion flavors to choose from. The Raspberry, Pineapple Mango and Pomegranate. They are all a great way to get a full serving of veggies, and fruit plus the antioxidant power from green tea. All of this natural goodness has only 50 calories per 8 oz glass of tea.

Giveaway Rule Change

The constant tweeting is driving me crazy, I get so many giveaway tweets, and I appreciate it it, but at the same time, it’s making it impossible for me to see who is tweeting @ Me. So from now on, Tweets are Once a Day only.

All Giveaways are US only unless specified at the time of giveaway

Please follow all directions on ways to enter (e-mail me if you every have a question)

When it comes to tweeting, you can tweet once a day only!

You have three days to contact me after I the post is up and I will try to send you an e-mail. I will not always be able to so you might want to make sure you are a subscriber.

If a prize is forfeited I don’t re-draw winners I donate the prize to Bloggers Give or ask the sponsor if I can do a new giveaway.

Occasionally I will post giveaways with other blogs. I had no idea until now they are called “creative presentations”. If you ever see a Google doc on my blog it is for a creative presentation giveaway.

Entrants can enter on each page, sometimes daily. Each page offers a large prize, and they might offer smaller prizes as well. However, when the time for the drawing comes, only one of the participating websites is randomly selected to be the winning contest. That means that if you didn’t enter on that particular page, you have no chance of winning the prize. It also means that although many sites may seem to be offering great prizes, only one will actually be given away.

I thought my giveaways were clear on the fact that the same form was used on all of the blogs but from now on I will reference this as the rule page so people will understand. You do not need worry we are not harvesting any information. I don’t use your e-mail address for anything other than contacting the winners. If this is different, it will be specified on the specific giveaway.

Also, sometimes a sponsor will not honor a giveaway, as I know this makes me look bad, I can not afford to replace or make up for their lack of professionalism. I will try to contact them up to three times after you tell me you did not receive their prize. Also, things get lost in mail, and I can not replace those either. Sometimes e-mail ends up in junk mail, and I try to check mine but sometimes your prize will be donated in the event I do not hear from you. I do the best I can, after all I’m a mommy first.

Winners are chosen by either random.org or I take a random number from a poll on twitter.

*****All Giveaways and outcomes are at the sole discretion of the blog owner******
