Sharpie Liquid Pencil Review

IMG_4360I hate using regular pencils. I hate the way they feel, the way they sound when the lead is hitting the paper, to me using a regular no. 2 pencil is like nails scratching a chalk board. I’m not even fond of quite a few of the mechanical pencil makers either. Ok, so call me a pencil snob, I can take it, ‘cause I know it’s true.

Sharpie realized that there are others out there just like me. They also were smart enough to get this out just in time for back to school and regular schedules. On the top of school supplies list is the classic No. 2 pencil. I know, that my husband doesn’t like regular pencils either so I’m sure that as soon as our children can hold a regular thickness pencil we’ll be buying them something like this, but who knows what else will be out in about five years?

Sharpie’s Liquid Pencil just glides across the paper with it’s cutting-edge technology liquid graphite. There is no sound to make me cringe and my hands feel comfortable using the pencil. I also don’t have the urge to drive my nails into the pencil sides. I used to take out my discomfort out on my pencils by dragging my nails along the side digging them into the wood.

The liquid pencil writes like a pen, it can be erased for up to three days and then becomes permanent like a pen. No more smudging with age or breaking  your lead and losing half of it.

  1. I’d been wondering about this product and am so glad to hear it works well! Thank you for sharing your review & linking to it on twitter! :)

I wonder if these can be used on standardized tests? Probably doubtful. Even with #2 pencil leads in those mechanical ones, I don’t think the kids can use them. I’m not much of a pencil person myself, so I might look for these.

AWESOME! I want one! Wish I had one in college for all those notes!

I love the idea of this and was ready to order some for my two sons who are heading back to college tomorrow. Then I read the reviews on Amazon, and now I’m not so sure. I know everyone’s experience with a product is different, but I may wait for the New and Improved version, which I hope Sharpie is already working on. Thanks for introducing me to a product I had not heard of.

This is interesting. I’d never heard of anything like it. Right now my kids are young enough that the teachers don’t allow mechanical pencils. But definitely something to keep in mind in a few years.

Did you get a sample? Is it already out in stores? I’ve looked without success :(
