Playmates Truth of Dare iCarly Bear, Sam’s Remote, Webshow Set iCarly Toy Review

Playmates is rolling out an entire line of toys dedicated to the Nickelodeon hit TV show for tweens and teens iCarly.  Playmates Toys brings an exciting toy line to the forefront with licensee Nickelodeon, the network most watched by kids. Winner at 2009 Kids Choice Awards of “Favorite TV Show”, top-rated live-action show on Nickelodeon, and follows the life of the star of her own web show.

Playmates sent me a few of the items to sample.

  •  Sam’s Remote – the only authentic gadget featured in almost every single episode of iCarly, that delivers authentic features from the show. And new for the 2010 Fall season, new sounds from the show (applause, booing, random dancing clips and hilarious sound bytes). Also includes the all new Pink Bling to customize the remote.

Of course this is not the demographic that my kids are in, but they love a remote, and a remote that makes all of these fun sounds is impossible to keep out of their hands. I have a feeling that fans of the show will love the remote too. Tweens still have a little bit of imagination in them and love to re-enact things they see on TV.

  • iCarly Truth or Dare Bear – this is iCarly’s bear from the show with a digital twist! Press the truth button to get started and the iCarly Bear will randomly select a question for you. If you don’t answer the truth question the bear will automatically pick a dare. Complete your truth or dare and pass it on to the next player. bear
  • Webshow Set with How-To DVD – Now you can create your own soon-to-be-famous webshow, just like iCarly and Freddie shows you how as he narrates the instructional DVD! The DVD Bonus footage includes: A tour of the iCarly set on Sunset Blvd. in Hollywood, Carly & Sam give you tips on how to create your own show, and there are 50+ sound FX to add to your show. This set has over 30 pieces included to create your own hilarious episode in a new dimensional way.

My kids don’t get to watch this show. I’ve seen it because I’ve previously reviewed the iCarly show and it has been on at my cousins house. I know how so many kids are into the internet and this show brings it all together for them and makes it real. So having a toy line that helps support the show should bring in kids that are even younger than I would expect the tween age to begin. I thought my cousins were too young for a show like this, but what do I know, my kids are still just 2 and 3 and we don’t have cable. Let me know what you think of the show and if you think these toys would be a good fit for kids in your house?

Thank you to Playmates for allowing me to review these items, I will be donating them to a local charity so that the appropriate aged children will be able to play with them.

My oldest is 6 and she’s seen a few episodes, especially when my 10-year old niece was here. She now wants her own blog and is more interested in the computer and what it can do. Still too old of a show for her, but I am glad that it has gotten her started on being more comfortable with the computer. And I agree – the remote is something that kids of ALL ages would like to play with!
