Getting Zoe Ready For Preschool and Miles Ready for Me

Zoe has been ready for at least two months to go to school. She is so very excited about going to preschool and getting homework. While I was at BlogHer, a friend of mine, Erica (she works for 5minutesformom) was telling me everything she needs to get done in a week for back to school with her three children. That reminded me that I have a lot to do too. Two of the things being, calling the doctor for a copy of the immunization records and the other, finding out where the registration forms are.

image I called the school and the doctor and have started the process of getting Zoe into school. My next problem is going to be how am I going to deal with my son, who’s entire world is his sister. I’m a small part of his world but he seems to handle when I leave and go on a trip but whenever he is away from his sister he gets really depressed. Hopefully, I can get him as interested in doing “home work” as his sister is. Then we can practice our letters, shapes, numbers and working with scissors.

Mead sent us five different products from the Mead Writing Fundamentals back to school line.

image Path Quest
Snip-It
Shape Builders
Letter Stories
Dry Erase Activity Board (Stages 1, 2, 3)

Zoe just loves practicing her letters and working on numbers. She can sit for hours just learning and working on these things.

So my goal is that while Zoe is off at Pre-school for 3 hours every couple of days is to get Miles interested in academics a little more, but more than that it’s going to be about having time alone with mommy. I’ll have lots of one on one time with him and I’m really excited about it. I’m also excited to practice shapes and letter recognition. This is the age that Zoe was when she started learning her alphabet.

Mead Writing Fundamentals are designed with your child in mind. They encourage hand eye coordination, reading skills, and the ability to focus. They are divided into four stages based on the developmental level of the child, these tools progressively build upon one another as children master the skills necessary for writing success.

The mead product line can be found at Target and has been on-sale for Back To School! I am giving away the entire set that I received to review. All you have to do to enter is:

Nanny McPhee Returns Movie Giveaway

I found Nanny McPhee to be a very cute movie. She’s like the Super Nanny but really ugly. I know, she becomes quite lovely as the children start to behave. She’s quite good at her job and has a way of coming and going just like Marry Poppins. Nanny McPhee Returns will be in theaters August 20th.

Synopsis:

clip_image001In Nanny McPhee Returns, Oscar®-winning actress and screenwriter Emma Thompson returns to the role of the magical nanny who appears when she’s needed the most and wanted the least in the next chapter of the hilarious and heartwarming fable that has enchanted children around the world.

In the latest installment, Nanny McPhee appears at the door of a harried young mother, Mrs. Isabel Green (Maggie Gyllenhaal), who is trying to run the family farm while her husband is away at war. But once she’s arrived, Nanny McPhee discovers that Mrs. Green’s children are fighting a war of their own against two spoiled city cousins who have just moved in and refuse to leave.

Relying on everything from a flying motorcycle and a statue that comes to life to a tree-climbing piglet and a baby elephant who turns up in the oddest places, Nanny McPhee uses her magic to teach her mischievous charges five new lessons.

Bound For #BlogHer10

image I’m in the airport and have been for the last three hours. I have one more hour to go before I can even get on my plane? Why do you ask?

I’m going to BlogHer in New York City and I was hoping to get an earlier flight out. I decided to take a red eye so that my husband could go to work today, and then he took the day off anyways. I was also hoping that it would be less interruptive to my kids’ schedule. They go to bed at seven and if my husband dropped me off then we wouldn’t have to wake them to take me to the airport.

I’m so tired right now and I can barely keep my eyes open. See you guys on the East Coast soon enough. I really hope Blogher is on the Pacific Coast Next year! Oh and I miss my babies already too!

While I’m at BlogHer

I spent a few days getting things ready for myself and for my husband who I left behind with the children. They are amazing children but still being without mommy and turn everything upside down.

I made sure the pantry and the fridge were fully stocked. He has everything he needs to cook but I have a feeling he’ll still take the kids out to eat more than we normally do. He’ll probably prove me wrong just because I wrote this in a blog post. ;-)

I did the laundry but even doing all the laundry before I left there still managed to be more as I was walking out the door. He should be able to get by without doing any laundry.

Last night my husband said, I think I should do an art project with the kids. Zoe loves doing arts and crafts, she gets to do one on Sundays at church and it makes her so happy. So he’ll be able to use up probably 2 hours by setting her up with a project. Miles, he can’t sit still that long.

Anyways, the point to the post…

As I was reading my e-mail last night, I noticed that one of the reps that represents Disney sent me two different Tinker Bell craft ideas. Fashioning a Fairy House (pictured above) and Creating Your Own Fairy Journal

TBGFR_FairyJournal_NA

Andrew told me to print them out and that Zoe would be happy just to look at the paper. He was right, we showed her the activities today before I left and she said,

TINKERBELL!!

And she was quite excited! I know the kids will be fine! Feel free to take these, print them and use them as great entertainment for your own kids. I hope Andrew saves the final product for me to see when I get home.

Tinker Bell and the Great Fairy Rescue releases as a Blu-ray Combo Pack, DVD and Movie Download on Tuesday, September 21.

I posted this because it’s really what my kids will be doing this week while I’m gone!

Back To School Shoe Savings With 6PM

newbalance This is kind of silly but I’ve been posting great deals for 6PM.com for about eight months now and I never took advantage of the savings. One of my friends that reads my blog saw some of the deals a while back and even she took advantage of the savings. So, I’m the one that’s been missing out on the great savings here.

6PM gets all of the shoes that Zappos is done with and they want to sell them as quickly as possible so they mark them down at the best possible rate. So for mother’s like me that like to save money and need new shoes for school or Pre-school if you want to get right down to it; 6PM is where to find the best deals on the best brands.

6pm.com is where “brandaholics”go to get their daily fix on the brands they love in apparel, footwear, and accessories, all at 75% off MSRP – every single day!

When looking at the shoes I saw great brands like Converse, Nike and New Balance. I spent a lot of time looking at the girls shoes because Zoe will be going to Pre-school in the fall. She is so ready to go to school and she’s learning her letters. I picked out a pair of New Balance that were marked down to 15.00. That’s hard to find a name brand pair of shoes at such a low price. You find shoes at Target that are Target brand for that price you know what I mean?

I’m also very pleased with how quickly they came. There are three categories that are all are under $25.  Boy’s Athletic Shoes, Girl’s “Sugar” Shoes, and Girl’s Athletic Shoes. The athletic shoes are perfect for kids that play and wear out shoes like my son does. Man, he’s just like his father the way he wears out his shoes. Love ya honey but you know it’s true! The “sugar” shoes are quite cute and I wished they had more toddler sizes in the boots. My daughter needs a new pair of boots for next year. I’m sure they’ll get more in as we get closer to the season.

I received a pair of shoes to facilitate this review.

Imaginative Play with Playmobile

Click on the image please, in order to see the content of this item. Sometimes I think of Playmobile as being like a building block set, but it’s much more than your average block. You can build a little scene but it’s mostly a play theme. You have characters with every set and you can collect an entire village with all of the different packages they sell.

Playmobile is broken up into two categories, the toddler set and then the older kids set. The toddler sets or 1-2-3 playmobile, can always be found in stores in yellow playmobile packaging.  I spent time playing with Playmobile at my last job. The job I had before becoming a mother. Yep, I got to play with toys all day then too. We could fill an entire wall at the store with just Playmobile and the different themes of toys they had. One of the best sellers we had was the Advent Calendar, the other would be the Pirates Sets.

Playmobile sent us a toy that I’m going to use as a donation. They sent us the Large 1-2-3 Playmobile Farm. So here is what you do:

Kids usually do the rest!

It’s amazing how many different things they can come up with and what you can teach them. Colors, animals, and farming. My son has become very good at playing by himself and they both talk to their toys. I love watching the stories they come up with and how they create playtime now and they tell stories.

For older kids:

My Take Along Puppet Theater playset is sure to earn a standing ovation.  The Puppet Theater retails for $49.99. Role-playing is even more fun with this on-the-go set. It even comes with sound effects including laughter, applause, and two different kinds of music.

Get Your Groceries: Safeway Home Delivery Giveaway

logoGetting ready to go to BlogHer has kept me quite busy. Not only do I need to get myself ready but I like to make sure my husband is going to have everything he needs at his disposal. I didn’t exactly have time to go to the grocery store so it was nice to take advantage of the delivery. safeway

We’ve used it before. I like how convenient it is and delivery was free though my husband’s work. Now that delivery is not free for us anymore, we haven’t used it until now. Safeway delivers groceries right to your door step. I spent three days working on my order and deciding what I wanted to purchase. You can’t do that when you’re at the grocery store. I always say I lost my sanity at the grocery store. I’m sure if you’re a mother you know what I mean, keeping the kids in-line while picking out things from your list can sometimes be completely maddening so grocery delivery is quite appealing.

Things I’m not so fond of are things like, I can’t use my printed coupons, and I can’t figure out how much delivery is going to be. They say that delivery is only 6.95 but depending on certain things it can be more and I was a bit surprised by my total today when they delivered my groceries. I also miss actually walking down the aisles, but at the same time, it keeps me from picking up things that I just do not need!

I did love how nice the guy delivering my food was and he brought it all they way to my kitchen. He also noticed when he walked in that I had children and apologized because he was worried he woke them up. Which he didn’t, they were already awake and just waiting on me to come and get them.

I went upstairs got the kids out of bed and they put the groceries away. I love my kids!
