Creativity with Moon Dough Never Dries Out

Team Mom Sent us a Moon Dough set to review. My kids were so excited when I got it out of the box. We play with Playdoh all the time but the problem with Play Doh is that when it gets left out or if the lid isn’t put on all the way then it dries out. Sometimes I add water to it to use it longer but getting the right amount of water added can be an in home disaster.

IMG_4363 The Moon Dough is hypo-allergenic and wheat free and it doesn’t dry out. How on earth they came up with this recipe is beyond me, well that must be why it’s called Moon Dough right? It is out of this world. The age range is 2-4 so it was a perfect fit for my kiddos.

We received the farm play set, the Moon Dough Barn. It includes an easy to put together barn, three colors of moon dough, three animal molds inside of the barn, and two extra molds. They loved playing with it and I see it as a great indoor rainy day kind of activity. The Moon Dough line offers a variety of play sets and does not stick or stain..

Have you Checked out elm eLiving Media?

I’ve decided that as a blogger it was time to spread my wings and write for others. I get so tired of doing product reviews and giveaways sometimes that I need more stimulation. As my husband looks over my shoulder and says, “Don’t spread yourself too thin”. I think, Who me?

eLivingmediaNo, I think this will be good for me and for Mom Start. One of the places that I’m writing articles for is for Lori, you probably know her as A Cowboys Wife, My Wooden Spoon; but now she has a new site: eLiving Media. I am one of two technical writers, well three if you include Lori herself, because she has something to say about technology too. ;-) Jennifer, from My Dirty T-Shirt shares in my responsibilities as a writer.

Lori started elm because she is tired of being a “mommy blogger”. So she recruited a few great bloggers to cover many different topics and is now promoting eLiving Media. She has quite a few great giveaways in the forum. I wish I had more time in the day, but with Summer still here, I haven’t had time to enter all of them. We’re still spending lots of time outside. At BlogHer no one recognized me because I had so much sun in my hair. I live in the state of Rain, and am loving this sunshine we are having this summer!!

Remember the Sunscreen! Even for Back to School

image I was sent an article about sunscreen and how important it is to use every day. Not just during the summer while you are at the pool. In fact, my doctor has been telling me for a few years now that I should not leave the house without putting on the sunscreen and I hate when I forget. I have so many moles and all of my moles are abnormal. When I went to the dermatologist last time she said, wow, they all look bad, so we’ll just take a few and see how they are and then decide if we should take more, ummm. Are you serious? I feel like I’m playing Russian Roulette with my skin. So I want to make sure you guys remember to put the sunscreen on yourselves and your children.

Going Back to school tips:

Data suggests that the majority of sun exposure in a person’s like occurs before the age of 18.  So… how can you be sure to protect your children when they are back at school and out of your sight? Kavita Mariwalla, MD, Director of Mohs and Dermatologic Surgery at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt and Beth Israel Medical Centers, suggests following these simple rules:

Use the spray version 30 minutes before a sport activity they are part of

Wash your children’s clothing with a sunscreen additive like Rit Sunguard. (I’ve never heard of that stuff before but it sounds really cool). The easy to use powder can be washed in with clothes in the laundry and confers added SPF to t-shirts, shorts and socks – good for multiple washes.

Purchase empty lotion bottles or re-use them when they are empty (travel size) and put sunscreen in them and send them to school with your children.

Make sure your kids are wearing sunglasses and protecting their eyes.

Making wearing hats fun for your kids. Hats provided added protection to children’s scalps, necks and faces. Make sure to use sunscreen anyways, but this added protection will help.

When your child is in an all day event like a tournament, designate a parent to be the sunscreen mom, you know, like snack mom. That way all the kids will be taken care of and protected from the sun!

This information was provided to me by respected PR rep that I work with. I was not compensated, I just feel it’s important to share because I have experience with the sun and skin damage. Only time will tell for me how bad the damage is!

Monday Mingle Grandparents Edition

This is my first time to participate in the Monday Mingle. I was pressured (LOL, I’ve been wanting to do it for a while now anyways, on my list of things to do since Jan) into doing it last night by Jennifer herself. Jenn at Eighty MPH Mom, host a fun vlogging event called Monday Mingle.

THIS WEEK’S QUESTIONS (submitted by Teresa at NanaHood):

1.  If you could switch places for one day with anyone in the world who would it be and why?
2.  What do your children like best about visiting their grandparents?
3. What kind of grandmother do you think you will be (many years from now of course) and are you looking forward to it?

1-800-Flowers Summer of Smiles Giveaway

1-800-Flowers was at BlogHer and I received some cookies, a lot of cookies. We love their cookies. My husband, loves them just as much as I do, but since we’re trying to eat better, I made sure that I didn’t make it home with them. I shared them with my roommates and anyone else that I could. Those Fannie-May cookies that 1-800-Flowers sells are really just so delicious that they make me smile, a guilty pleasurable smile mind you!

So how can you share the smiles with 1-800-Flowers?

Send a friend a bouquet to brighten up their day. 1-800-Flowers has offered me the opportunity to share a smile with someone I know, I have not decided yet who that will be. There are so many people in my life that I want to thank, and I would love to be able to thank each and every reader. You guys are what keeps my blog going even when I don’t feel like keeping it going. So I hope for now that a giveaway from 1-800-Flowers and the Summer of Smiles campaign will bring each of you a tiny smile. Just check out some of the options!
