Infiniti by Conair You Curl Giveaway

clip_image001

It’s been a while since I’ve had issues with clamps in my curling iron, but I don’t spend much time on my hair, when I do use a curling iron, I turn it on, wait for it to heat up, run it through my hair and hope for the best because that’s all the time I have.

Conair developed a new curling iron that is for people in a hurry and that get clamps from curling irons.

Is your curling iron “clamping” your style? Sometimes you just gotta let loose! Soft, sexy curls are now easy to create with the new Infiniti by Conair You Curl. The You Curl has a unique, clamp-free design and a cone-shaped barrel that creates a softer, less structured curl.  Simply wrap hair around the barrel, hold for a few seconds and then release.  The conical design allows the curls to start closer to the root, allowing more volume through the middle (large portion of the barrel) and the bottom will have a tighter curl (small section of the barrel).  The effect is trendy, free-flowing spirals with no “clamp kinks.”

The powerful ceramic heater features Tourmaline Ceramic™ technology which provides more protection, reduces frizz, helps eliminate static and does not have damaging hot spots. The ultra-high heat levels are instantly restored during use, and the 5 LED settings provide the ideal temperatures for all hair types. The stay-cool safety tip protects fingers during use.

The Infiniti by Conair You Curl is available nationwide at mass market and drug store retailers, as well as at www.conairyoucurl.com, for an average retail price of $49.99.

You can also find out more great info by “liking” Conair’s new Facebook page at www.facebook.com/conairhair or following them at www.twitter.com/conair_hair

I’m a klutz and I burned my finger using this, It did however, curl my hair and the curl stayed in my hair overnight while sleeping on it without using hair spray. It has excellent curling potential.

Watch this video to learn how to use it without burning yourself like I did. ;-)

The Hunger Games Giveaway

Encouraging reading is very important to me. We read to our kids every night now and it puts a big smile on the entire family. We all sit down together upstairs read two books, one for each kid and then settle them down for bed with a good story.

My husband and I both read as we go to bed too. The Hunger Games was recommended to me and I’m going to try them out. I could use a break from re-reading Twilight over and over again. Yes, just slap a big NERD across my forehead please!!

The Hunger Games is Now available in paperback!HungergamesCover

In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capital surrounded by twelve outlying districts. The Capital is harsh and cruel and keeps the other districts in line by forcing them to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight-to-the death on live TV. One boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and sixteen are selected by lottery to play. The winner brings riches and favor to his or her district. But that is nothing compared to what the Capital wins: one more year of fearful compliance with its rules. Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who lives alone with her mother and younger sister, regards it as a death sentence when she is forced to represent her impoverished district in the Games. But Katniss has been close to death before—and survival, for her, is second nature. Without really meaning to, she becomes a contender. But if she is to win, she will have to start making choices that weigh survival against humanity and life against love. Bestselling writer Suzanne Collins delivers equal parts suspense and philosophy, adventure and romance, in this stunning novel set in a future with unsettling parallels to our present.

If these guys liked it then I’m sure to like them because I love Stephen King and Stephanie Meyer (NERD across my forehead)

“I couldn’t stop reading."

-Stephen King, Entertainment Weekly

“I was so obsessed with this book.”

-Stephenie Meyer, www.stepheniemeyer.com

Suzanne Collins named to the 2010 TIME 100 list (April 29, 2010)

Here is the last tip from HarperCollins:

Summer is a great time to be outdoors. Why not take a Friday or Saturday night and camp out under the stars – in your own backyard! Use this opportunity to unplug from TV, computers and other distractions and connect as a family by sharing some of your own childhood favorite books with your own kids by camp light.

Borders and HarperCollins teamed to provided me a Borders gift card in exchange for my posts about the Double-Dog Dare Summer Reading Challenge. It does not affect the fact that I believe in reading to my kids.

Outlast Beach Party

image Our house is extremely concerned with keeping our hands clean. Remember back in February when my husband was hospitalized? It was for MRSA and it is extremely contagious. Most people don’t have to be hospitalized but if it isn’t treated it will get really bad.

One way to help prevent it is to use a really good hand sanitizer for those in-between times when you can’t find an anti-bacterial soap to use. Outlast is a very strong hand sanitizer it uses a patented technology that continues to kill germs on your hands for up to 6 hours. Most hand sanitizers just kill the germs that are on your hand and then that’s it. As soon as you touch something else you need to sanitize again.

Outlast sent us some products to share with our friends and we took them to the beach the other day for a beach party. I thought it was fitting because my husband’s doctor said that MRSA has been found on the beaches of WA so, we always get super clean after a day at the beach. So we loaded up the van and off we went.

image

We had a super amount of fun, and then afterwards we all got cleaned up.

image

We also had some sticker fun. Outlast provided stickers with body parts and scientists on them. The kids created scenes of working in the lab.

Make Money Being an Affiliate

There are many top bloggers out there that make quite a bit of money using text links. Whenever a reader clicks on a link and they make a purchase from the site they visited off of your link then you will make a percentage of that sale as an affiliate. Being an affiliate takes time and effort but the payout can be well worth it. I don’t monetize as much as a could, but I do use an occasional Amazon Associates link. So I make money off of those links.

This week must be the week for companies to move to affiliate links and they have asked that I sign up to be an affiliate. I wanted to make sure that you all have the same privilege. You can sign up, you need to have a website, and it is up to them to approve you. Most companies will me sure that your site is a good fit for them as well.

Outdoor Play Toys. Kids, Childrens & Baby Toys - Little TikesLittle Tikes Toy Company:  Pays 5% for every sale. Commission Junction is their affiliate support, I signed up with Commission Junction over a year ago to sell Entertainment Books. It’s really easy to sign up, but make sure that you sigh up for Little Tikes Affiliate program at www.littletikes.com.  Just go to their home page and scan down to the bottom and click on Affiliate Program.  Commission Junction will send you everything you need to access the website and receive banners to post on your site.  A check is cut by CJ once a month and sent directly to you.  It’s just that easy!

Parent Media Group:  I think everyone has heard of The Cute Kid photo competition.  This promotion for www.TheCuteKid.com is the world’s largest and only professionally judged child and baby photo contest of its kind.  They are looking to expand Their business and thought this promotion would be mutually beneficial to other bloggers. The payout to you is: $12 per contest entry, which is one of the best affiliate payouts I have seen. Sign up for this offer at: The Cute Kid Affiliate Sign Up

amazon Amazon Associate: By using Amazon Associate links in posts, users will click over to Amazon and even if they don’t purchase that particular item then whatever they do purchase you will make 4% on. There is a sliding scale and more details that I don’t pay that much attention to because I’m not a big time affiliate user. The Problogger wrote a great article called, 9 reasons why I am an Amazon Affiliate and the information is much more insightful than what I can provide you. Now through Amazon you can earn 15% off of your referrals to endless.com. Endless.com is one the largest on-line shoe stores with accessories and fashion. So if you are a fashion blogger or love to post about shoes then you should sign up for Amazon Associates and share your link to endless.

Logical Media: If you write a lot about saving money then Logical Media will work nicely for you. Logical Media pays depending upon the campaign it ranges from cents to 10.00, you will receive e-mails telling you the details of the campaign then you post the links and banners for the offer and you are paid on how many people click and participate in the campaign. Again, with any affiliate program it depends on how much you participate and promote your offers. You ask your readers to sign up for different programs and ads.

MySavings Media Super Affiliate ProgramMy Savings: Logical Media and My Savings are very similar. They work the same and the payout depends on the same characteristics. I find that I work more with My Savings because sometimes I write for them as a paid post and they don’t end up in my junk e-mail box as often as Logical Media does. Affiliate marketing seems to look like junk e-mail. With My Savings You don’t have to sign up though to make money and be an advertiser. You can just sign up for Printable Coupons, Coupons, and Free Samples. There are plenty of savings to be found on the internet.

If you really want to start making money as an affiliate for companies then you need to sign up for sites that fit your niche. Do you write about fashion, sign up at major fashion sites and become an affiliate, just check out their websites and at the bottom of the site it should say “Affiliate Program”. The Smart Stylist is an excellent example of a blogger that makes money as an affiliate for multiple brands.

Parigi Group’s Apple Bottoms on my Daughter Giveaway

Parigi Group sent me a set of clothing from Apple Bottoms for Zoe to wear. And Wear she has! There was a time when this girl would not wear a pair of pants unless it was an elastic waste. I thought we were still in that era, but when she saw a pair of Apple Bottoms jeans with a glittery apple on the butt, she had to put them on. I told her she had to wait until the next day so I could get a good photo of her in them. Poor girl!

Next day, she remembered!image

Let me just say that taking a photo of a little girl is quite a challenge. At least for this photo shoot she was all smiles, I think that last time we reviewed clothing together she cried the whole time.

image All of the clothing has special detailing. Zoe’s shirt has an apple on the front pocket of her shirt and the back says Apple Bottom. The pants have the letters AB on the butt. She just loves her new clothes! Apple Bottom runs in sizes infant up to girls size 16, (FYI some small adults can fit into size 16, I could before I had children, so you might want to check them out for yourselves. It’s CUTE!)

Zoe’s outfit is an undershirt, white tank type spaghetti strap, with the sheer plaid colorful over shirt with all of the glitter rhinestones on it. Her jeans have the adjust the waste bands in them so you can grow into them, or if you have a tall child that is quite slender then you can get the larger size and adjust the waste. Whoever, invented the adjustable waistline for kids was a genius!

image

My only complaint would be, you have to wash them by hand. I don’t wash anything by hand and because I didn’t wash it by hand or on the delicate cycle some of the glitter work came off on the t-shirt, they stayed secure to the jeans though! (I washed the jeans inside out)

The Parigi Group has played a major role in helping to shape and define the children’s fashion apparel market. They represent brands such as PUMA, Apple Bottoms, Akademiks, and LRG.

Four Chances to Win 2000.00 Sponsorship to #Blogher10 Sponsored by #Energizer

WOW, as far as I can tell you have four chances to win a sponsorship to Blogher this year thanks to Energizer® Recharge Smart™ Charger, Kailani from An Island Life and Krissy at Barefoot Mommies.

To Enter:

You have to tell them why you Deserve to be an Energizer Smart ChargHER and post your entry into their comments section. They are looking for originality, creativity and Krissy wants to laugh.

Disclosure:

I want to enter but wonder if I actually qualify. I have a clothing sponsor that is giving me one outfit to wear. No money, but one outfit to wear. I would love to wear the t-shirt representing Energizer at all other times and under my suit, but I have to wear my rocking outfit at least once.

I also have one very small partial sponsor. So before I enter I just want to put that out there that in a way I have two sponsors, only one has helped me make it to Blogher, the other is just taking advantage of the fact that I’m going to be there. So with full disclosure out of the way this is why I deserve to be an Energizer Smart ChargHer!

I have two young children! Strike that! I have three if you count my technology nerd of a husband. Yes, I’m sure everyone else entering does to, but did they use that as their reason, I’m blaming the fact that I supply them with batteries on a daily basis the reason why I need an Energizer® Recharge Smart™ Charger and would be a perfect spokesperson for Energizer.

Toys Toys and more Toys

Oh, and like I mentioned before a husband with a huge fascination with electronics. You should see how we fly through the batteries. All of the items above take AA batteries. We have the DS, the Wiimote, the Vtech toys, the Xbox controller (yes it has a rechargeable unit as well, but we have a cartridge that you can put AA’s into in extreme cases when someone has forgotten to charge all of the batteries. Ahem, you know who you are mister! You might think that using the Xbox controller does not qualify as an extreme case but in a house of gamers it does.

I can’t only give the credit to the children and my husband though; (as much as I’d like to believe it’s their fault we go through so many batteries), I have plenty of items that use batteries. The flash on my camera takes AA’s. And I was cleaning my floors today and realized my Swiffer Wet Jet uses AA batteries. So I can’t even clean my house or take photos without using batteries. My life is surrounded by batteries.

Advice if YOU win:

We do have a recharging system in place already. With as many batteries as we use, we already have a charger, but it’s not as cool as the Energizer® Recharge Smart™ Charger. It doesn’t have an indicator on it telling us when we need to toss one because it will no longer charge, it doesn’t tell us how much power is in the batteries we want to charge, and it doesn’t have an awesome LCD screen that tells us how long the batteries will take to charge. The Energizer® Recharge Smart™ Charger does all three.

What we do have is:

We have a drawer dedicated to batteries. Inside that drawer we have a plastic container labeled, “needs to be charged” and a plastic container labeled “Charged and Ready”. We even marked all of our batteries with symbols so we know how old certain ones are. Yeah, we’re that nerdy! I recommend that you at least find a way to keep your charged batteries organized. It will just save you a few minutes so you don’t have to test them, but at least with the Energizer® Recharge Smart™ Charger you can test them. ;-)

Crayola Chalkboard Floor Puzzle Giveaway

Lafayette Puzzle Factory contains an excellent assortment of puzzles. I love getting puzzles for Zoe and she loves putting them together. Don’t ever let anyone tell you your child is too young for a puzzle. She’s three and is doing puzzles for ages 5 – 8. My only warning would be to make sure they don’t still put puzzles pieces in their mouths. My kids no longer put puzzle pieces in their mouths but my son must be watched with them. He likes to break them in half, I think he’s into making more puzzle pieces for his sister.

Lafayette Puzzle Factory sent us two Crayola Chalkboard Floor Puzzles, and the Crayola Chalkboard Floor Puzzle sparked playtime in our neighborhood. To protect the kids in my neighborhood I’m not showing any photos with the kids playing, but as you can see, they had a great time.

image

image

Playground_kCrayola created quite a few different versions of the same idea. You get a giant floor puzzle and put it together. Then you can sprawl out on the floor and draw to your hearts content. So there are quite a few ways this encourages play time and leaning. Logic of finding the ways to interlock the pieces and of course drawing helps dexterity and imagination. Zoe has started telling us stories from her drawing.

So the other puzzle is going to one lucky reader!
