PBS KIDS: Triple Feature, Super Why! Martha Speaks, Caillou

Picking content for my children to watch is very difficult. I want to know the the program is educational and has clean content. PBS is one of the only networks that I let my children watch programs from. PBS Kids sent us a few DVD’s to review and for me to choose to giveaway or pass out. Well, of course I want to share them with my readers.

Super Why! I never realized that when we were at Zoe’s grandmother’s house that she actually watched Super Why!. I found out just last week that she did watch it because she was talking to me about Super Readers and Super Why! How they tell stories and read letters. She wanted to read the letters.

We also watched Martha Speaks and Callilou, but I know that she said her favorite was Super Why!

Oh No! Tassimo Too! Iced Coffee at Home

image A few weeks ago I wrote a review about Keruig brew over ice tea and coffees. A few days later Tassimo sent me some brew over ice coffee. I must say that the Gevalia flavor that they sent me was a God-send for last week. This was my sweet sugary fix when I was at my afternoon lul. I really love my Tassimo T20 review.

Now you may wonder why I write about Keurig and Tassimo and I’m sure both of those brands are scratching their heads too. My husband and I do not agree on which brand reigns supreme. In my eyes Tassimo takes the lead, but in his Keurig does. So now, we can’t live without either. Tassimo is to blame for my weakness.

To me, the flavors that Tassimo carries are so much better than the competition, their only weakness being fewer choices. I love the flavors. I love having a latte, or a cappuccino, or this new sweet coffee flavor with peppermint mocha creamer is my newest weakness and I’m going to have to go out and buy some more. I hope that Target starts carrying the brew over ice flavor. MMMMM, I’m already out, I ran out in three days. I need more t-discs you guys.

Iced Coffee Flavors to Choose From:

Gevalia Black Iced Coffee

Gevalia Sweet & Creamy Iced Coffee

Directions:

The Gevalia Sweet & Creamy Iced Coffee comes with a milk t-disk and a sweet black coffee t-disc. Heat up the milk, then heat up the coffee, and then pour over ice. I like to add creamer to my ice before I add the coffee mixture then I enjoy.

Beehive Kitchenware, The Silver Baby Spoon

imageBeehive Kitchenware brings silver and style to the kitchen. They have sort of a modern twist to rustic charm in Kitchen Collectables. I would see these things in my kitchen if I decorated it, but I know my mom would search high and low for these products because she does decorate her kitchen.

Beehive Kitchenware sent us a Silver baby spoon to review on Mom Start. I loved how beautifully it was packaged and it would make a very thoughtful baby shower gift. Now that my children are both experts at eating with silverware they get to use their daddy’s silver baby spoons. So it might be nice to hold onto something like this for them to share with their children.

Check out their baby spoon designs:

Christmas in July: iSi Flex~it Measuring Cup Giveaway

snowmanchristmasevent I always find it very funny when I get a review opportunity after my husband has gone out and purchased it. We have been looking for large measuring cups for a few months now. Our Pyrex measuring cups have lost their markings which makes them no longer any good at measuring. So we were nervous to go with Pyrex again and it was hard to find the sizes we wanted anyways. Do people not like glass anymore?

Well, why should you when silicon exists?

iSi has many consumer and foodservice products for making food at home or in a large restaurant. Their consumer products include, cream whippers, soda siphons, chargers and much much more. So my husband went into Williams and Sonoma the other day while we were out at the mall and he purchased the three set of the Silicone Flex~it Measuring Cup Set.

isi

He has already used them. He used them to make special muffins for me. We had Chocolate Chip Cheesecake chocolate muffins. MMMMM. I loved them too much so I had to get them out of the house. I shared them with all of the neighbors.

The recipe needed measuring, but what I noticed that my husband did was that part of the recipe called for you to keep the cheesecake mixture and the chocolate mix apart. So he put the mixtures in the isi Measuring Cups and used them to poor the mixtures into the muffin tins. OH, it was so easy because the silicone is so flexible.

They are dishwasher safe and you could bake in them if you wanted. They are heat resistant to 490 degrees F.

Giveaway Jingle – Share your Giveaway

Woops! I’ve been forgetting to post the giveaway Jingle every week. So here is this week’s installment.

You’ve got a giveaway, I want to know about it!

image

One of those weeks, One of those Days

As a mother, sometimes I just wish I could reach for that EASY button that Staples has, or how about just the reset button for the day or even for the week. This week has been one of those weeks. Everything with the kids has been a battle all week long and I’m ready for a new week.

The worst day was Tuesday.

imageTuesday started out like a great day. We went to see of any of our friends were home and no one was answering their doors. One of our neighbors was leaving as we were heading home with our heads down low and she said her and her daughter would play with is that afternoon. The kids were excited just by this news, and I told them I would take them to the park in the meantime.

We went to Wilmont Gateway park in Woodinville to ride our bikes on the Sammamish River Trail. I know that lots of bikers use this trail and I know that the bikers think they own the trail. So I’m trying to teach my children that they need to stay on one side and when they see a biker coming to move out of the way. Miles made a lot of progress and moved out of the way on cue. We were ending out walk because Zoe was just not in the mood to walk in the first place. So I was arguing with a 3 year old and corralling a 2 year old the entire time. As we were nearing the entrance to the trail, there was a train and car overpass. A train came by and blew its’ whistle, being almost right underneath it it was terribly loud and completely terrified my children. Miles started screaming and shaking with fear. Zoe was crying too but she calmed down much faster. So we had to stop while I was consoling them. I pulled us in tightly but we were still on the trail. So a biker had the nerve to tell us that we should move off of the trail.

image I was so mad. Bikers do not own the public trail. She actually stopped at the entrance of the tail and waited for us to leave, so that she could tell me, I’m just concerned about you and your kids. Now, perhaps her intentions were good, but she proceeded to tell me that I should have gone just a little further forward and moved my family out of the way. I wanted to bite her head off. It took everything in me to keep my cool. In the heat of the moment, and even afterwards I didn’t see a space large enough for all three of us and our bikes. I would have liked to see her handle the situation better if she had been there with one child trembling with fear.

We get home and I put the kids down for a nap. I needed to make changes to my vacation so I had to call the airlines to ask if they could exchange the tickets for a different day. First time I called they said it was going to cost me 130.00 per person traveling. I was appalled again because they are going to resell the tickets that I am not using, plus they are making even more money. I told them I would think about it and call them back. I looked on-line and saw that I could apply for a refund. Since the ticket prices went down since I purchased them I though, perhaps I should just apply for a refund and re-purchase the tickets, I called them again. The next person I talked to said there is a fee of 150.00 to make changes to travel plans then she said it will be…and I didn’t even let her finish her statement. All of my anger from everything that had gone wrong that week went into this lady. Poor thing!

She stayed calm, which was SHOCKING, and she told me I need to let her finish what she was going to say. She said, “Mrs Bishop, ticket prices have gone down 184.00 since you purchased them, because of this, you are actually going to receive vouchers for all three flights and I will change the day you are traveling.

OH.

The guilt I felt for going off on her. She told me not to worry about it that she is used to it. That made me feel even worse. What an awful job she must have dealing with people upset over flights, and prices. YIKES!

image I thought this might be the turn around point for my day, but Zoe got up from her nap and was a grump. Everything was an argument with her and Miles. We played with our friend but when she had to go in for dinner we were all grumps again. Then, my husband calls and said he missed the bus. Oh no! of all days to miss his bus, this meant I had another hour to go all by myself with two very disagreeable kids. I had no patience left so I went to my husband’s work to pick him up. The kids are quiet in the van, well I gave them food and turned on a movie so they would be sure to be quite.

For the rest of the week the grumps have been off and on. Oh where are you reset button, I’d like to start off next week with no grumps.

Christmas in July: Vivabox Giveaway

snowmanchristmasevent Christmas in July is still shelling out gifts and we have some very exciting things coming up. For instance, have you ever heard of a Vivabox before?

A Vivabox is a themed gift. You pick out the theme of your choice to send to your friend and then they get to finalize the details after they get the box. Inside the box will be the samples. For instance, they sent me the Fun With Photos Box.

funwithphotos

GorillapodThis Vivabox came with a Gorillapod, which is pretty cool except that it won’t work with my digital camera, my camera is way too big for it. But it works with my video camera. My husband loves to play with gadgets so I’m excited to let him play with it.

Then after we are done taking photos, we can use the gift card to order a fun item with our photos on it.

vivaboxredeam

optionsThe hardest thing for me anytime I have the option to create something, is picking out a photo. We take 1000’s of photos a month. Yes we really do. We love looking at our kids. So now I get to put them on something like a mouse pad, photo mug, or a pillowcase.

Christmas in July: Medela Nursing Bra Giveaway

snowmanchristmasevent Having a Christmas event we wanted to try to make sure that we had something for everyone. So I asked Medela if we could do another Nursing Bra Giveaway. Why, because I love their brand so much. I used the Medela Pump In Style for all of my breast feeding needs. I wasn’t working, but if I wanted to leave Zoe with her dad for any length of time then I needed to pump before hand. I had quite a back stock of breast milk thanks to this pump. I wish I was giving away a breast pump. Now that would be awesome.

Medela offered us a nursing bra. Since I’m no longer breast feeding and will not be breast feeding any time in the future, I decided to donate the bra they sent me to charity.

IMG_3218

My Impressions from when I did use Medela

Medela LogoThe bra is easy to open and close for feeding and it is made of a light material. It is soft and easy to clean. Unlike some of the other brands there are more sizes available so you can find a closer more comfortable fit. Which is important I found because you need the support from all of the weight and more control always kept me from leaking. Of course I never went without pads and they were always full. I made a ton of milk with my first and none for my second. Sizes available:

Seamless Jacquard Nursing Bra
Sizes: 32 C-D, 34-38 B-D and 40 C
Colors: white, black and latte

Seamless Microfiber Nursing Bra
Sizes: 32 DD-F, 34-38 DD-H and 40-46 D-H
Colors: white, black and mocha
Both are available in underwire and wire-free.
