Ceci Carmichael, chef and former host of Food Network’s Calling All Cooks and Good Food Fast, knows that moms are always looking for modern tools to update their kitchen routine. Ceci recommends these tips:
- Arm Yourself with Apps: Smartphone applications, like on the Apple iPhone®, can be functional as well as entertaining. Many have been developed to solve even the toughest of kitchen quandaries. For instance, there are apps that do kitchen measurement conversions and apps with fast, healthy recipes. So whether you need a revolutionary new way to calculate conversions, or to get a leg-up on your meal plans, download a few to have on hand.
- Upgrade to Hands-Free Appliances: Everyone wishes they had a third hand in the kitchen. Bring your kitchen into the 21st century by replacing old appliances with new, touch-less appliances. There are paper towel dispensers and trash cans that are activated with the wave of a hand, and sink faucets that turn on with the tap of an elbow.
- Automate Kitchen Clean-Up: With all dishwashing detergents changing to phosphate-free formulations, now is the time to change your routine and try the new revolutionary FINISH Quantumatic. The innovative and effortless new system transforms the kitchen clean-up routine by eliminating the need for pre-rinsing.
- Chore Lists of the Future: Don’t count on sticky notes or verbal instructions for your family. Use a fridge magnet that records videos to leave detailed, visual instructions on what to clean and how to cook. For more information, please visit FinishDishwashing.com
Finish sent me the new Finish Quantumatic starter kit and a bottle of Jet-Dry Turbo dry to review here on Mom Start. The biggest selling point after mentioning that you don’t have to pre-rinse your dishes is that it is more environmentally friendly than other brands. The packaging is made with recycled materials and the parts that aren’t they are currently working on it.
Also, it’s small, instead of a large bottle of detergent you are using the small refills and each refill washes up to 12 washes and it does keep up with it for you. There is a silver ball on the top at balances itself on the current number of washes you have left. With the smaller amount of packaging and less waste they are creating a smaller carbon footprint than other brands.
How It Works
Follow these simple steps with FINISH® QUANTUMATIC™ to have automatically clean dishes the first time, every time:
Place the refill into the dispenser; close the lid and lock
Clip FINISH® QUANTUMATIC™ to the top rack of your
dishwasher
Use your dishwasher as you normally would; after12 washes, replace the refill
My husband asked, “does it have that ingredient that people are complaining about in dishwashing detergents?” I of course had no idea what he was talking about, so I looked into it. It says that it is phosphate-free so that must be what he was talking about.
With all dishwashing detergents changing to phosphate-free formulations, now is the time to change your routine and try this innovative dishwashing system.
My thoughts, it works. The dishes are clean and they are mostly dry. You know some types of dishes no matter what you use are going to have some kind of water collection that just can’t be dried. I wish magic would happen but it never works for me. Nothing completely dries the dishes, but they were really close, and very clean. I thought my pans were a little shinier than normal.
My negatives would be, it takes up the space of one glass. I like to cram as much into the dishwasher as I can so it takes up a spot. The other negative is that it is a little noisy but I think most people won’t notice. We notice because we have a silent dishwasher. I mean really silent, you can’t even tell it is on it is so silent. We accidentally open it sometimes while it is in the middle of a cycle because we can’t tell it’s running. With the Quantomatic we can tell the dishwasher is running.

What would I do with the time? Actually get to relax with my husband after dinner instead of standing in there for 30min scrubbing the dishes before I even put them in the dishwasher!
With the extra time I’d probably do some reading.
I spend it making something for dinner that required a little more time and effort, maybe try some more complicated recipes.

Rinsing the dishes after dinner takes too much time. I would love to trade that time playing a game with the children or snuggling together with children in bed.
Extra time? Probably spend it doing laundry! Ha! No, I would like to spend it outside with my beautiful daughter and two funny, fuzzy dogs playing in our yard. I enjoy reading your blog, Louise!
I would read in my extra time.
