Favorite Children’s TV Shows Giveaway

I love to watch TV and yes I am so guilty of letting my kids watch too much TV, but most of it is really good for them. They learn so much from some of the programming. Zoe knows her alphabet and we’re working on lower case letters now. Some of that reinforcement comes from TV. Check out a few of our favorites here:

Firefly Fun & Buggy BuddiesSesame Street – Firefly Fun and Buggy Buddies

Warner Brothers is a publisher for Sesame Street DVD’s and they sent me a copy of Firefly Fun and Buggy Buddies to review. We watch this episode all the time, it is one of the episodes we recorded before we turned our cable off. So we have Elmo’s World Bugs, Slimey’s Pet Bug Dirty, and Fly, Little Firefly! We like to sing this song and pretend that we are little Fireflies right along with Telly Monster and Baby Bear.

This DVD is all about bugs. Telly and Baby bear try to figure out how to catch a firefly. But once they do, they see that the firefly was sad. So they had to pretend to be fireflies to understand that the firefly was unhappy with the small amount of space he was stuck in.

You know how Oscar has a pet worm? The worm Slimey wanted to get a pet, so Oscar takes him pet shopping. They then pick out a bug and have to learn how to take care of a pet together.

Wow Wow Wubbzy – Escape from Dino Island

Wow Wow Wubbzy: Escape From Dino IslandNick Junior sent us Wow Wow Wubbzy newest adventure on DVD; Escape from Dino Island. Wubbzy is a cute and quirky bendy-tailed character  that takes viewers on many adventures in the brand-new DVD, “Escape From Dino Island.”  Whether it’s exploring the jungle, swinging from vines or “discovering” friendly new creatures, you will find here.

“We are very excited to bring ‘Escape From Dino Island,’ to DVD as the newest title in our collection of award-winning Wow! Wow! Wubbzy! releases,” said Julie Cartwright, SVP of Brand Marketing for Anchor Bay Entertainment.  “Preschoolers and families nationwide will dig the dinosaur-themed entertainment that is sure to bring laughs to the youngest set, while imparting important life lessons about honesty, teamwork and more!”

In Escape form Dino Island has six episodes and a bonus episode making seven total episodes for your preschooler to watch, and if they are anything like the two of mine then they will love Wubbzy in Escape from Dino Island. Start off with the adventure Escape From Dino Island, Then you’ll find Wubbzy The Hero, Call of the Mild, Wubbzy and the Sparkle Stone, Daizy’s Purple Thumb and Mt. Fizzy Pop. Then the final episode is Too Much of a Doodle Thing.

Also a star on the Internet, Wow! Wow! Wubbzy! remains the top game for the past two years on Nick Jr. ®’s award-winning website (www.nickjr.com) and boasts the first-ever video podcasts for preschoolers at www.wubbzy.com.

Cover Image - Sid the Science Kid: Weather Kid SidSid The Science Kid – Weather Kid Sid

NCircle Entertainment and PBS sent me a copy of Sid the Science Kid Weather Kid Sid to review with my family.Sid the Science Kid is about Sid and his friends and the discoveries they make at school. They have science lessons every day, as they sing, play and interact with one another just like children do every day. The feel of the show is so natural, every day Sid gets up, struggles to get his breakfast eaten, goes off to school and plays with his friends. He occasionally has a play date after school with his best friend Gabriela. Gabriela is my daughter’s favorite character because of the pigtails, but she is also partial to May and her purple hair.

Weather Kid Sid has four episodes with the first episode introducing the rain. They learned all about how the rain helps things to grow, and that it doesn’t just rain to ruin play dates.  Another episode was about spending the day with his dad out in the sun. Sid was protesting the sun block, the same way mine did, but he learned all about why it was necessary to put on sun block.

Snack Time

imageToday for our snack time, we had something a little special. Instead of just graham crackers, today I gave them peanut butter on them. Zoe was so excited about it that when daddy called to check on us from work, she had to tell him about her special snack. “Daddy, I had a special snack today”

“What was it?”

“peanut butter! it was on my graham cracker”

Over the past few weeks I’ve been sent a few things here and there to try. I wanted to share them and my thoughts with everyone.

PostPost – Cereal is one of my favorite things to eat as a snack. With Post Raisin Bran I’m getting fiver and whole grains with every delicious bite. Post Cereals contain naturally-occurring whole grains, fiber and antioxidants for a natural advantage that helps support a healthy heart and body. Post’s Shredded Wheat is made of one simple ingredient: wheat. My favorite Post Cereal is Honey Bunches of Oats, but I do find that Raisin Bran is the only cereal that I like raisins in. Post also has answers to any questions you might have about grains. They have Dr. Melina a certified internist and physician nutrition specialist.

image French’s Dip – French’s just came out with a new Dipping Sauce, it’s my favorite flavor, honey mustard. I could put this stuff on almost anything, I truly love honey mustard and they have the flavor just right for me. Just the right amount of sweetness, and the tangy combination of mustard. I also love the thickness, it’s for dipping for sure. Save 75 cents with this French’s Honey Mustard Coupon.

Perky Jerky – Perky jerky is flavored with Guarana and that gives it just enough of a kick to be invigorating. It’s like eating caffeine and getting some protein in there at the same time. This Jerky is one of my favorite brands because it is so tender and easy to chew. I hate when jerky gets stuck in my teeth and this stuff doesn’t.

imageCrystal Light Pure Fitness – after having a few snacks, I’m always thirsty so I like to drink water, but I’ll admit I get tired of just water. So I’ve been drinking Crystal Light Pure Fitness. This Crystal Light single serve is a low-calorie fitness beverage mix with no artificial flavors, preservatives or sweeteners and colored with natural ingredients. With only 15 calories per serving, it’s sweetened with evaporated cane juice and TruviaTM, an all-natural, calorie-free sweetener derived from the stevia plant, and it’s colored and flavored with natural ingredients.

farmrich Farm Rich Products – I purchased some of the Farm Rich Cheese Sticks at Walmart. Walmart has a selection of different frozen products made by Farm Rich. Farm Rich makes food for breakfast, snack time, lunch and dinner. They make yummy cheese sticks, mozzarella bites, mushrooms, quesadillas and sandwich melts. Save 75 cents with this Farm Rich Coupon.

No More Freebies, My family deserves better, I deserve better

A few weeks ago, I wanted to purchase advertising on another blogger’s website. She sent me her rates, and we conversed back and fourth a few times. I’ve been mulling over it for a while and it made me realize that I do deserve more. I have two toddlers that come first, so my husband has been the one that is neglected. This past week, I’ve been putting my computer down at night and watching movies with him. It’s been wonderful just relaxing and not letting my blog to-do list stress me out.

I have continued to accept post information and giveaways from company after company, PR rep after PR rep and then let them make me feel like I have to publish the post the same day they provide that information. I constantly let people walk all over me and I’m done. I’m burnt out and don’t have time.

If you want me to post a review then send me something to review. If you want me to host a giveaway, then you can pay for the links to your site and all the work I do to host the giveaway. If you can’t pay for the giveaway, you can send me the same item, and I’d be happy to use it as a review or donate it to the charity of my choice. I have the stats to back up my desire to be paid.

I will finish out what I have already signed up to do, but I’m not accepting anything else for free. I will also publish reviews on my schedule, I can not guarantee that I will write about it within two weeks of receiving the product. I can not guarantee that I will write a positive review. I will write my honest opinion, good or bad when I have time to write it.

I will no longer be an enabler for PR, or companies to take advantage of bloggers. I’m taking my blog back.

This is part of a campaign with Warner Brothers, I may receive a few samples later down the road to facilitate a review. No compensation has been received so far.

My Experience with Pampers Dry Max

image I was one of the 50 or so parent bloggers that were contacted on behalf of Proctor and Gamble to try the new Pampers Dry Max diapers. They sent me a bag of diapers to try for a week so that I could write a review and then host a giveaway for them. I did that and had no problems with the diapers. I even liked them enough to switch from using Huggies Supreme, and I’ve been using Huggies for three years without interruption.

The diapers smell great and work well for us. We haven’t had any issues with diaper rashes or leaking. The only issue I had was that those little gell pellets were on my son once, but my husband said that happened because I left the diaper on my son too long. We used to have the problem with Huggies too, so of course I believe that it’s my error. It’s certainly not a new diaper issue and neither are diaper rashes for that matter. We all know diapers do cause diaper rashes, it’s the nature of the beast. We have had diaper rashes off and on no matter what brand we are using, sometimes if I give the kids too much juice they get a diaper rash. The acidity in the juice makes them more sensitive. It is usually a sign that I need to change the diaper more often. We were also told by our doctor that when they are sick, they are more likely to get a diaper rash. I’m not a doctor, but I am interested to see what really is behind all of the uproar over these new diapers. I almost feel like moms are upset over the initial reaction from Proctor & Gamble, and not the fact that their children have diaper rashes.

Pampers Dry Max diapers are not dangerous to use, they are made of the same “tried and tested ingredients” (Proctor & Gamble Press Release). I was contacted again on behalf of Proctor and Gamble to share with you the statistics and facts about how rigorously they were tested before they were released; but it’s just numbers. It’s not as personal as me telling you. I USE THEM. I have no problems with them.  I do however, have to pay more attention to when my child goes potty. It is easy not to notice that they went because the diapers are so thin. I’m one of those parents that pats their child down to see if they went potty. If I can’t feel it that must mean they didn’t go right. No, with Pampers new Dry Max, they might have gone, so just changing them every few hours is better than taking the chance that they didn’t go. I also find that sometimes I have to really look into the diaper to see if my son went poo poo because the diapers smell so good.

Proctor & Gamble are standing behind their product because they did test it. They are standing behind their product because they believe it works and as far as my family is concerned it does work.

I did receive on bag of diapers free,  but I have purchased the rest I’ve used myself.

Disney Baby Books Review and Giveaway

imageThis is a very Disney oriented family here in my house. I have one who loves to dress up as a different princess every other day and another who carries Mickey, Minnie, Tigger, and Pluto everywhere he goes. He even tucks them under the covers.

Reading to my kids is very important to me even though I don’t do it as much as I know I should. They are both little sponges and I love to encourage their learning in any way I can. Encouraging your children to learn begins at such an early stage. Even when they are just babies you can being to teach them, just be letting them experience textures, words, and sights. Disney Baby is right there to aid you when it comes to your children.disney baby mirror

DISNEY BABY is a new series of infant books guaranteed to delight both babies and their new mothers. The first three titles available now are BUSY BABY (Disney Press, $6.99), WHO’S THAT BABY (Disney Press, $6.99), and COZY BABY (Disney Press, $7.99). The new DISNEY BABY series introduces babies to new Disney friends as they discover the world around them, and moms join in on the fun as they read the playful text to their newborns.

We received a copy of all three books to review, and I’m going to donate the review set. They also sent me a copy of each book to give away to one of my readers.

disney baby busyEach book focuses on different kinds of time that are key to your child. You know, bath time, play time, and nap time; times of the day that are very important to your babies. In Who’s That Baby, there is a mirror that allows your child to see their reflection. It is going to fascinate them as they look at themselves on each page of the story book.

Busy Baby allows babies the opportunity to turn the pages themselves. Each page of the book has a soft taggie on it, and babies love to chew on taggies. These tags will make it much easier for them to learn to change the page as you Disney Baby Series Cozy Baby Cuddle Time Book - Disney Press - Toysread them the story.

The final in the set, Cozy Baby is a washable soft fabric that they can cuddle with at bed time. It is easy very easy to clean. My children are above the “recommended” age for these books, but they are always excited to get a new book to look at.

The DISNEY BABY series explores simple concepts to encourage development of babies’ listening and language skills. It also presents opportunities for fantastic mother-baby bonding moments.

You can find the books on-line and in stores at Toys R Us.

Old Orchard Healthy Balance Juice Giveaway

healthybalance Healthy Balance—Old Orchard’s line of low-sugar, low-carb, low-cal, and gluten-free (yet still delicious) juices.

Old Orchard sent us one sample of Healthy Balance Juice to review and a whole stack of coupons to use as a giveaway and donation. I’m going to donate some juice to our local food bank and give the rest away to one lucky reader.

Healthy Balance combines juice that we all love and without all the sugar. The whole reason kids are only supposed to receive 4 ounces of juice a day is because juice is loaded with sugar. Now sugar from fruit is natural and not bad for you, but it’s great when as a mother I don’t have to worry about the sugar count.

To get people excited about Old Orchards Healthy Balance they are having a Spa Vacation giveaway with 5,000 in prizes.

The Spy Next Door Movie Review

Click here to download a FREE activity sheet from The Spy Next Door!

Lionsgate send us a copy of The Spy Next Door, so we had to pop it in and watch it. Monday’s are a difficult day for us as I imagine they are for many families with little kids. Monday is the day daddy goes back to work. They get a little fussy, so we started the day with a mega race of my son’s cars down the staircase and then we popped in a movie: The Spy Next Door.

In college I grew very fond of martial arts on screen and off, Jet Li being my favorite, with Jackie Chan coming right behind him. The Spy Next Door stars Jackie Chan as Bob Ho a man ready to retire from the Spy World and settled down and have a family. He’s fallen in love with his next door neighbor, and realizes that he needs to get to know her family. So, he has to babysit them while she goes on on business trip. This trip is the pivotal point in his relationship with the children, and much like The Pacifier, he falls in love with the children and they him.

Of course his retirement was complicated because he was dragged right back into the spy world along with the kids. In the middle of it all the oldest child calls the mother to come back and get them. So of course the romance is off with the one little lie that he couldn’t possibly tell. Of course Jackie Chan is great with the action and brings in the laughs easily with The Spy Next Door. The movie is available on a 2-disc Blu-ray Combo Pack – which includes both Blu-ray and DVD – and is also available as a separate DVD and for digital download.  From the director of Snow Dogs, the film features a star-studded cast including Amber Valletta (Hitch), Billy Ray Cyrus (Disney’s “Hannah Montana”) and George Lopez (Valentine’s Day), and grossed over $24 million at the box office.

This KIDS FIRST!-endorsed action-comedy which also received the Dove Foundation Seal of Approval, contains bonus features the whole family will enjoy – including a blooper reel and two fun featurettes that bring audiences up-close and personal with the cast.

Blu-Ray Combo Pack SRP: $39.99

DVD SRP: $29.95
