The Litl Webook Review

I spent the last four weeks exploring the Litl, a webook, a computer for internet users. If you do all of your computing on the internet then the litl is perfect for you. Litl sent me a review unit and I returned it at the end of the review. No compensation was provided and all opinions are my own or my husbands.

Opening the Box:

 litl

Every detail was important to litl, opening the box was an experience all in it’s own. I thought I took more photos of opening the box but this seems to be the only one I have. Inside the two little boxes are the remote control and the plug to plug it into the outlet.

When you open the box, there sits the little, and when you pull it out of the box there is a little compartment where some flash cards are hiding. Those flash cards explain every little detail of using the litl. At litl, they want to make sure you know what you are getting and that you are completely satisfied with the product; offering 100% satisfaction guarantee.

Our commitment to our customers is so strong we would like to put it in writing. We guarantee you will be satisfied with our products and service. Return anything at anytime within two years of purchase if you are not completely satisfied.

Exploring the Litl:

As you can see it looks great anywhere in the house. It is black and white, keeping with modern and contemporary looks in your home.

naptime1

Simple as can be. There is no maintenance! No Add ons! No saving to it! You just turn it on and it’s ready to go. You might have to add a few subscriptions, but it is all very easy to do.

When you see our main navigation screen, you’ll immediately know how to use it. Just point and click. Litl eliminates menus, icons, and folders. In fact, we’ve removed all computer administrative debris between you and the web.

Side Views: notice how there is nothing confusing about where to put the plug, and there are not a whole bunch of extras.

The screen is an amazing attribute to the litl. No matter what angle you are at you can see it. Have you ever noticed on a lat top that you have to adjust the angle of the screen or you might lose all color or visibility. That isn’t so with the litl. In fact, just by flipping the litl it adjust into easel mode the screen flips and all interaction can be done by a remote control.

The litl webbook is great for viewing photos, checking e-mail, sending e-mail, reading news feeds, keeping up with tweets, reading any kind of RSS, and sharing with family.

The Black Cards:

Black Cards: black cards are great because they are the cards that work when the litl is in easel mode. All you have to do is find a website that has an RSS feed and then it will say subscribe to this channel and viola, you have just created a black card that works in easel mode.

The scrolling view of cards:

litlrecipes

My favorite card to leave the litl on was the weather channel. I just loved to watch the rain on it.

litlweather Cards come from channels.

The litl webbook’s channels transform online content to make it more useful and entertaining. These channels complement a familiar web browser experience for active, “lean forward” use with an all-new “lean back” mode for passive web enjoyment—from across a kitchen or on a large-screen television, for instance. Users can easily create channels for many popular websites or select from a set of channels custom-designed by litl, including Facebook, The Weather Channel, Flickr, Shutterfly, and now, BakeSpace.

Recipe Channel:

I have always wanted a computer that is safe to keep in the kitchen and while we were testing out the litl that is where it stayed almost 100% of the time. I did take it to bed one night to watch hulu but then I put it back in the kitchen when I was done.

I love to cook, and I’m always using the internet to find great recipes. Well, I hate having to print out the recipe so that I can have it in the kitchen with me. With the little, all I have to do is pull up the recipe I want to use and all the directions are on the screen. The screen is amazing. One of the channels is the bake space channel.

Things are heating up in the kitchen with the introduction of a new recipe channel, launched today by litl (litl.com) in partnership with BakeSpace (bakespace.com). The channel provides quick and easy access to more than 50,000 recipes for users of the litl webbook, an Internet computer for the home. It is available now at no cost to litl webbook users.

Developing for the litl:

My husband wanted me to ask if we could keep it for a little while longer. He loves writing little programs and when they released the SDK for litl, he was so excited. I never asked because I was late in returning it anyways. We became quite attached to it. We just find the price to be a little high for us.

The SDK will fully support Adobe® Flash® Player 10.1, the newest and most powerful version of this popular web platform. With the SDK’s release, users will benefit from a much larger selection of free and paid channels (software apps) created by independent developers (today’s channels include recipes, NPR and its  Facebook Status channel). My husband was dying to create an interface to work directly with our own website.

The litl’s planned upgrade to Flash Player 10.1 is also important. Adobe’s Flash is a software platform that’s popular for adding animation and interactivity to web pages. The new version will use the litl’s processors more efficiently and will ensure your favorite websites run faster than ever — especially the ones with games and videos. When it’s released on the litl, they expect to see improved performance everywhere from Club Penguin and Farmville to Hulu and Miniclip.  And, as always, upgrades like this are done automatically and at no cost to litl’s webbook owners.

Purchase the litl:

The litl can be found at http://store.litl.com/

Must Mention:

The litl is not a heavy duty computer, it is a webbook and for those who do all their computing on-line. It is not the computer for a techie like me, but, I didn’t want to return it. I wanted to keep it because playing with it is just so much fun.

Thankful Thursday

It’s that time of week again, the time where I show my thankfulness.

What am I thankful for this week?

I am thankful for my husband who has been driving himself to work for the past two days so that I can get 20 extra minutes of sleep. Being sick is the pits. He’s been making sure I take my medicine though, and getting me tea and cough drops and ice cream to soothe my throat.

I’m thankful for my friends.

I’m thankful for MOMS club and my support group that they are.

I’m thankful that tomorrow is Friday

This week’s blogger I’m thankful for:

I’m thankful for Lee at My Sentiment Exact Lee

ThankYou

Excited about Despicable Me

Despicable Me is coming out this summer, it’s a cute children’s movie that takes place in a happy suburban neighborhood surrounded by white picket fences. Among this happy setting lies a house black as can be with a dead lawn. Unbeknownst to the neighbors, hidden deep beneath this home is a vast secret hideout. Surrounded by an army of tireless, little yellow minions, we discover Gru (Steve Carell), planning the biggest heist in the history of the world. He is going to steal the moon (Yes, the moon!) in Universal’s new 3-D CGI feature, Despicable Me.

Gru delights in all things wicked. Armed with his arsenal of shrink rays, freeze rays and battle-ready vehicles for land and air, he vanquishes all who stand in his way. Until the day he encounters the immense will of three little orphaned girls who look at him and see something that no one else has ever seen: a potential Dad. One of the world’s greatest super-villains has just met his greatest challenge: three little girls named Margo, Edith and Agnes.

Eureka Tent For Spring and Summer Giveaway

When I think of Tents I don’t really think of moms, but that’s just me, I’m not an out door kind of girl. I do think of dad’s and that is because my DH loves to go camping. You might want to start thinking about what to get the dad in your life, but if it is too soon to think of that then think of this as a Spring and Summer Giveaway.

When I think of Eureka Tents, I think of amazing quality. Eureka sent me a tent to review, but we haven’t had any weather to review it with it has been cold here. We had nice weather and then it got all cold on us. The weather this year is so odd. The tent they sent me is so awesome that it is widely used by the Boy Scouts. I did a few searches on the internet and yes, it is a be-loved tent.

Timberline 4 that I received is the new model! The Timberline SQ 4XT. This product was redesigned this year in light of the Boy Scout’s 100 year anniversary. The product detail page there has some good information about the product’s new and flashy features. And I included them here:

SQ Hub

The proprietary SQ hub offers strength and optimum angles to create internal volume for excellent livability.

Mid-Span Pole Spreader

The mid-span ridge pole spreader bar accentuates the curves in the tent body, adding internal volume to the A-frame.

Vertical Doors

Two large vertical D-style doors with Hi/Low venting offer ease of access and enhance ventilation.

Interior Pockets

Interior pockets keep essentials close at hand.

Vestibule

Tent vestibule provides extra room to store gear.

Bathtub Floor

Bathtub floor wraps up sides of tent, protecting against splashing and standing water.

What I need to know about a tent:

This tent comfortably fits 4 people. It weighs 9 lbs 13 oz so it would be a little heavy to carry a great distance, but perfect for a campsite. I’m sure that stronger people could carry it farther than me. The floor size is over 7 feet by over 8 feet with an area of 60.8 square feet. The center height is 4 feet 9 inches. There are 4 storage pockets.

This tent retails for 289.90.

Spotting Moms with 1800Flowers Giveaway

Today’s Mother’s Day giveaway is brought to us by 1800Flowers. 1-800-Flowers is one of the best ways to honor Mom for Mother’s Day, why? Because it’s so easy and they deliver everywhere. I’m in love with them right now because they honored me for Mother’s Day, asked me to host a giveaway and let me honor another Mom Blogger. I chose Robyn from Robyn’s Online World. Why?

Martha Stewart Pure Bliss Bouquet

Because she is another mother that does it all just like me but she makes it look even easier than I do. Her blog is about her, taking care of her family, and products that her family uses. Like me she doesn’t classify her blog into any certain category, we both blog about what we fancy that day. She is better at using the word no than I am and I admire that in her. I had the opportunity to meet her and her son on one of the Blogging Trips I went on. He is a very well mannered teen and it was a pleasure and delight to meet them both.

1-800Flowers.com has a Mother’s Day Gift Center. There you will find lots of ideas on what to get for Mother’s Day. You can even choose by what kind of mother you are shopping for. I find myself to be in the new mom category. I’m still pretty wet around the ears when it comes to being a mom, most things I learn from trial and error but they are the world to me and I love being a mom. That’s why I was hoping to bring my readers a month of Mom Giveaways.

1800Flowers also has a blog written by Julie Mulligan, a weblog by lifestyle expert. She is featuring mommy bloggers for 1800flowers and I was her feature on April 6th. I was the first mom to be spotted this year and I’m so excited about being featured on another blog. I’m not sure that’s ever happened before. You can read about The 2010 Spot a Mom Movement. Thank you Julie for that wonderful article and Thank You to 1800flowers for the lovely flowers you sent me.

April is Alcohol Awareness Month

April is Alcohol Awareness Month and I’ve teamed up with the Ad Council and the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services’ Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) to spread the word about a new resource for underage drinking prevention and encourage parents to talk to their children early and often about the dangers of alcohol.  Alcohol is the most widely used substance of abuse among America’s youth.  Research shows that 40% of kids have tried alcohol by the time they reach 8th grade and those who first use alcohol before age 15 are six times more likely to have alcohol problems than those who start drinking after 21!

Starting a conversation about underage drinking with your children can be difficult.  Underagedrinking.samhsa.gov is a new site that provides tips as well as an action plan which parents can personalize to help get the discussion started and share the information with other influencers.

I grew up watching people very close to me drinking a lot. At least as a child I perceived it as a lot, because I saw the effects and had a strong head on my shoulder, I never wanted to drink. Now, I don’t want to drink in front of my children because I don’t want them to see what I saw. Taking to my children will be another big step I will take in the future Have you talked to your kids about underage drinking?  What age do you think is the right age to start talking to them? Right before they go to middle school? If you have talked to them, what was your experience like?  If not, when will you talk to your children and how will you do it?  Please share your experiences or thoughts in the comments section below!

I would love to have a conversation about this with you guys.
