This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Hormel Foods. All opinions are 100% mine.
No matter what time of year it is Chili is a great comfort food. Just last night I broke out the chili to make a great addition to some cornbread. Everyone likes it and it’s so easy with Hormel Foods. Hormel Foods and Dinty Moore are celebrating their 75th anniversary. They began with just one item and now they have a full line of ready to eat products you can serve up for dinner from the cupboard to the table in just minutes. Their products combine flavor, and ease and making them the number one selling stew in the nation.
Hormel began with chili con carne and Dinty Moore began with beef stew but together they now have almost 20 different varieties combined. Not only is Hormel a well known brand for food on our shelves but they also have had quite a history in advertising. Their iconic advertising such as George Burns and Gracie Allen and the Hormel girls, then in the 30’s they used characters like Jiggs and Maggie from “Bringing up Father” for Dinty Moore advertising. Then in the 60s and 70s, a lumber jack character was introduced, proclaiming “First name’s Dinty, last name’s Moore,” and he placed his thumbprint on every can. In the 80’s they moved on to a football player, Fran Tarkenton was tapped to promote Hormel® chili as an official training table food.
The Brands:
Dinty Moore®
From cupboard to table in minutes, Dinty Moore® products combine robust flavor with convenience and remain the number-one-selling stew in the nation. Dinty Moore® products have evolved from traditional cans into convenient microwavable meals, Dinty Moore® Big Bowls, and most recently Dinty Moore® Hearty Meals™.
Hormel® chili
With higher than 80 percent brand recognition, Hormel® chili is the category’s leading seller and enjoys the highest percentage of loyalty among all national chili brands. Hormel Foods continues to stand out as a leader in category innovation, most recently introducing Hormel® Chili Master®, a premium chili offering.
Hormel is sharing some great recipes with us. Here is one from a 1976 Dinty Moore package label…
Cowboy Stew (also called Beef Stew Bonanza)
1 (40-ounce) can Dinty Moore® beef stew
3 (15-ounce) cans Hormel® chili with beans
In large pot over medium heat, combine stew and chili. Heat just until boiling, stirring occasionally. Serves 10.
Other recipes to consider, include Chili Cheese Dip , Chili-mac, and Easy Shepherd’s Pie, all of which can be found at www.hormelrecipes.com.
