At Blissdom, everyone said that you should have a Google Alerts so that you know when someone is mentioning you, or linking to you. They didn’t exactly say how to do this so I had to make a guess.
First, you need to have a Google Account. Well, that’s easy because I used to use blogger as my blogging service provider. Now I know that’s not the correct term, because now I use Word Press, and Hostgator is my web hosting service. I have always had my own domain which has been a God Send. Anyways, setting up an account for those of you that don’t have one is quite easy. Just go to Create Google Account and follow the directions there.
Then once you have an account you will have a dashboard where you can create different things you might need. It think its great because everything I use is located in one place.
So when I wanted to add Google Alerts it was in the Try Something new section, I clicked on it and had to choose the term I wanted to have it looking for.
I have three currently set up and the only one that does me any good is the search for “momstart.com” because the Terms “mom start” or “momstart” are actually very commonly used and have nothing to do with my blog. You might think that momstart isn’t a word, well it’s not but people don’t always use great grammar skills on the internet.
The one plus I will say is that I have been getting some very entertaining articles sent to my inbox every day. It’s almost like getting the World News on Moms and what they are starting to do or how they are annoying their kids. I think that’s the biggest thing I’ve been finding is a lot of teenage blogs that are talking about how their mom is driving them crazy.
Sorry kids, that’s life. Mom’s job is to make sure you are taken care of and raised up right.
Just thought I would share my findings with everyone.

I’ve been using google alerts (and others previous to google) for ages and love it. It’s nice to see where I’m being “talked about” and where my content sometimes ends up as well. Great post!
setting this up now! Thanks for the tip!
i love this, it’s so easy and i have found some great giveaways for my son that i have entered, thank you!
