Chicken Soup for the Soul: Teacher Tales #giveaway

Teacher Tales Chicken Soup for the Soul keeps warming heart and spreading laughter to so many people. One of the newest additions is the Teacher Tales. How many of us have been touched by a teacher in our lives. We spend so much of our time with teachers and we hardly ever show them our appreciation but I’m sure we all have some really great Teacher Tales.

What about the tales that come from the teachers?

There are some great tales in here about accidentally showing the wrong video in class, like a topless dancing video. These stories are modern stories about teachers that are in the front lines. Being a teacher now is so much harder than it used to be. My grandmother was a teacher and she says that she could not teach today. Once, a student threw a book at her, she took that book and threw it back at the kid. She would be in so much trouble now for doing something like that. It’s all about children’s rights now and teachers take so much crap, but this book is filled with more positive stories than difficult ones. But there are a few that will bring a tear or two to your eyes.

Book Description:

This is a great gift for new and experienced teachers, providing them a morale boost and the knowledge they are appreciated. The teaching industry has embraced this book, and more than half the stories are from “celebrity” teachers, including all of the 2009 State Teachers of the Year and the 2009 National Teacher of the Year. There is a lot of buzz about this book in the teaching industry and those teachers who don’t receive it as a gift are sure to buy it for themselves, to read these 101 true stories by great teachers and appreciative students, with lots of laughs, poignant moments, and some tears too.

My favorite would be Connie. She was the teacher at a One Room School House for grades 1-4. She taught my 2nd oldest daughter for her 1st thru 3rd grades. She made learning fun for all the children. She taught them not only the basics, but also how to sew and cook and she took them on some fantastic field trips that I was priveleged enough to go along on. We were all sad when she retired and wasn’t returning for my daughters 4th grade.

My favorite teacher was Mrs. Hurd. She taught English (10-12th grades) at GCS. She was caring and always spent time with those students that WANTED to stay after school to play boggle or scrabble. She also hosted a special class trip to her horse farm for seniors! Mrs. Hurd was the best! lockwoodmerrie@yahoo.com
