New Series on NBC: Parenthood Premiers 3/2

When I first heard about Parenthood, my husband was telling me of a re-cast for the show and it hadn’t even started. Maura Tierney was supposed to be in the show, NBC postponed the show for her Breast Cancer Treatments, but then she resigned and they reluctantly re-cast her. I believe the recast went to Lauren Graham; the role as Sarah. I like both actresses, I think I like Maura more because she was on ER. You know, even my grandmother is looking forward to this show. She likes Lauren more because of Gilmore Girls. Never would have picked my grandmother as a Gilmore Girls fan.

The song, Forever Young, used in the movie in a few different places is a tear jerker. It’s not my favorite version of it but it still brings tears to my eyes when I hear it. Wishing to stay in that perfect moment forever, I ask my kids to stop growing up.

NBC sent me a screener of Parenthood and it’s defiantly a show I could get into. After spending a long two weeks with my family, I find myself wishing I was in the Braverman family. Man, the grandparents are the most understanding people I have seen. They let their now single daughter, with uncontrolled children move into the house. They have meals together completely civilized. Now, maybe all this easy going stuff is just for the trailer right? Or is that what America needs, maybe we are finally going to be getting a show that goes back to love. There will be drama, current relevant family drama, but the rest is going to be how a family unit comes together and fights their problems as one. I’m sure this is going to be a show that will have me in tears often. I was crying just watching the premier.

I think NBC is trying to reach out to all the audiences out there with a single mom of two teenagers getting into trouble and the good son with a child diagnosed with Asperger’s syndrome, grandfather who favors tough love but falters when his kids needs him, a woman so excited about becoming a mother that she purchased sperm, and an unprepared man who has suddenly become a father.

Here is a Sneak Peek:

Celebrate Southland Season Two on TNT with a Season One #giveaway

SouthlandSouthland was brought back to life for the fans. NBC decided that it no longer fit in with their nightly line up so they canceled. Well, everyone cried fowl play and TNT picked it up. I wrote a review of The Series Premiere a few weeks ago.

LEGO: The Adventures of Clutch Powers Review and #giveaway

Universal Home Entertainment sent us the first Lego movie to be released to DVD, LEGO: The Adventures of Clutch Powers.  We put it in to watch but we couldn’t finish it. Clutch is like Indiana Jones and his travels take him a on journey like The Lord of The Rings. It was too scary for my two year old. However, if you’re child is 3 or 4 or older then it will probably be fine. My daughter who is 3 kept saying that it wasn’t too scary so it’s up to you. Great children’s epic.

From my movie watching perspective; I liked it. It kept my attention and although I didn’t watch the rest with my kids I had to see how it ended. Clutch is a likable character that loves adventures. In his latest adventure he find friendship and team work by, “building on each other”.

Mom Start Spring Gift Exchange

I’ve been thinking about doing something like this for a while. I’ve seen other bloggers do this for different holidays and I’ve decided I want to try a reader/blogger gift exchange.

MomStart

How it works:

1) Sign up and provide your mailing address

Only two people will see your address, me and the person that becomes your gift exchange partner. Then all address will be destroyed. I never sell my reader’s information. Sign up by March 22nd.

2) I’ll match up all the people that want to participate

3) I’ll e-mail each of you with your partner so please make sure that louise@looksblue.com is added to your safe contacts list.

4) You agree to get something small and mail it to your partner by April 10.

Not Required but Desired:

Display the Gift Exchange Button on your site. The code is up top. I can’t figure out how to add the code to my post directly.

On April 19th we can all share our stories and do link ups if you have a blog. It is not required that you have a blog.  It is not required that you share your gift exchange but I think it will be a lot of fun.

Posting This Weekend

I’m probably going to be posting some this weekend but not at the rate I have this week. I’m going to unplug a bit and spend time with the family. You should too! Enjoy and relax.

I’m probably going to have a Pixar Marathon on Saturday and on Sunday find a church to go to. YEAH, and my husband just announced that there will not be any rain all weekend. What great timing for his announcement, and great weather to be unplugged in.

See you Monday!

Cinnabon Cupcakes anything else is just a cupfake #giveaway

Cinnabon

Cinnabon recently introduced cupcakes to their outstanding product line. I remember spending all day shopping with my mom and then we would treat ourselves to a monster cinnabon, with extra cream cheese and butter. Oh how I wish I could eat those kinds of calories again; to bee young again.

The cupcakes are so new that when I went in to review them it was their first day and they didn’t even have them all out yet. I caught them working on them.

After talking to them, they were very excited about having the new cupcakes, and overly worried about making them look perfect. I think what they already did looked great and they certainly tasted great.

Four flavors are in the lineup Chocolate Passion, Vanilla Bliss, 24-Carrot Cake, and Cinnacake Classic. They had samples out of the 24-Carrot Cake cupcakes

and a sample of the Cinnacake Classic cupcakes.

The 24-Carrot Cake was my favorite out of the two. It has pieces of carrots and no raisins, my choice for carrot cake. It was moist and delicious. The icing was divine. The Cinnacake classic was very mild in taste and not very sweet. So if you are looking for a milder taste try that one. The icing on it is very sweet though, which I found to be quite tasty. I love sweets and had to get out of there as fast as I could.

I’m going to have to go back to try the Chocolate Passion and Vanilla Bliss. They had not decorated them yet and I didn’t want to trouble them by asking them to make two for me even though chocolate is my favorite everything.

Cooking with Kids – Video Contest

One of the new series that I write on Mom Start is called Cooking with kids. My true fans have told me how much they have missed it so I’m going to be bringing it back. I never knew how many of you read that article.

In my social networking circle I was introduced to Koodies – the social networking site for kids that like to cook. It’s where parents can learn tips on how to get your children involved in cooking or where you can go to find out what to do with your child that is already heavily involved in cooking.

Currently, they are having a video contest.

updated winter kontest details

You don’t have to include your kids but I think cute kid factor will get you more votes. Good Luck entering the contest. Come back and tell me to vote for you if you do.

Next time where will be a photo of the kids cooking up something great!

Lysol Healthy Touch: The No Touch Hand Soap System #Giveaway

Lysol sent me a No-Touch Hand Soap System to test out and try. It’s like being in a public bathroom but at home, because all you have to do is put your hand out and then you have soap in your hand. It’s nice and then  you don’t get germs on the top of the soap dispenser.

Lysol No Touch

I would have to say my only complaint is the packaging, but everyone uses this difficult to open packaging so I don’t even know why I’m mentioning it.

Lysol No Touch2

You can see the scissors I had to use to get it open, but after opening it, I went to put in the batteries. You place them in at the bottom and the batteries are provided. So that’s a plus. That makes the value of the system worth even more than they charge because batteries these days are so expensive. We use rechargeable as much as possible.

Lysol No Touch3

After turning it on, I counted to see how many times it takes to prime the system. You have to stick your hands under it four to five times before something comes out and then you are good to go.

LYSOL® Healthy Touch™ No-Touch Hand Soap System Systems available in 2 scents:
• Soothing Cucumber Splash
• Cleansing Green Tea & GingerTM

Hand Soap Refills available in the following scents:
• Soothing Cucumber Splash
• Cleansing Green Tea & GingerTM
• Refreshing Grapefruit EssenceTM

Price
The suggested retail price for the No-Touch Hand Soap System (1-dispenser, 1-8.5 oz. hand soap refill and 4 AA batteries) is $14.99; an 8.5 oz. hand soap refill is $3.99

Product Description
Now there is a revolutionary way to help keep hands healthy. Introducing the new LYSOL® Healthy Touch™ No-Touch Hand Soap System. It helps stop the spread of bacteria because it automatically senses your hands and dispenses antibacterial soap with germ-killing power, killing 99.9% of bacteria. For use in your kitchen or bathroom, the soap refills are enriched with moisturizing ingredients and are available in three fresh scents. The healthy way to wash your hands.

********UPDATE******** (I am only able to offer 1 not 5, it was my mistake so if anyone is upset with the giveaway please be upset with me and not Lysol) ****************UPDATE***************
