So I’m sitting here watching Robin Hood from BBC America and it’s getting funnier by the second. I love British Comedy, but I think this is supposed to be a drama. Maybe I just don’t get any of it really. I need to pee but I don’t want to get out of my chair and pause it. I’m really lazy huh.
I’m tired too, but I’m always tired. Today when I was cuddling with the kids in my chair, I passed out on them. I felt so guilty but they didn’t seem to care. They were enjoying Veggie Tales.
Potty training has been on my mind. What to do?
She is three now and has no desire to do it. Not for bribes for free, nothing. Most moms I know say that the best thing to do is just let them run around naked. Oh boy that sounds fun. I let her try just her underwear once and she peed on herself and started crying then I let her try again and she pooped in her panties.
Of course, I’ve read about much worse with other moms, but I’m so tired of diapers. Even my son is ready to start training. Maybe if I just do him since he’s willing she’ll follow suit? Any ideas?
I just ordered my business cards, I need to do more work on my blog. I need to update my theme and change the header, I’m so tired of the flowers. I want it to match my blog button again. Why am I so easily seduced by the TV. I’m a tv junkie I swear. I could sit and watch TV all day.
I’m training my children to be the exact same way. I let them watch way too much TV. The doctor said only “1 hour”. Oh man am I in trouble. They watch it so much. But they hardly pay any attention. Oh well.
I wish it would stop raining, I think that’s why I’m so tired all the time. I hate the Pacific Northwest. Maybe I’ll become a famous blogger and get to travel more. Oh dreams. A girl has to have them right.

I’m w/ you there on the potty training. Mine is also 3 and has no interest. But don’t fret ok? They’ll both do it when they’re ready. It’s hard to wait, but it’s better than knocking heads over it in my opinion.
my favorite book of all time is red dwarf, it was also made into a show on BBC, it’s very old and really low budget, but if you read the book first, you appreciate what went into it.
My husband has been watching the robin hood series on our roku – he loves it, too! I have a hard time understanding them, so until Roku gets it together and puts captions on the show, I can’t watch – I just miss too much and it’s not worth it.
As for potty training, my daughter will pee in big girl panties, but not on the floor, so we put her in a long dress almost every day & she has no accidents. If she is over at my mom’s house, she will not have accidents in big girl panties, but at our house she will…weird. Anyway, she is getting the hang of it now & I am about to try the panties again. Good luck!
oh, and the long dress is just for at home – if we go out we put her in a diaper!
i had a nephew that had trouble potty training eventually we took to the bathroom every hour and kept cheering him on eventually it caught on

I’m going to have to agree with the letting them go in their undies trick. Worked with all 4 of mine. After a week or 2 they kind-of realize that they don’t like it. There are many tears (on both ends – lol) but I’d give it at least a weeks try (not nighttime though) Good luck! I’m sure she’ll do great.

I would have to agree with some of the other moms. Put panties on her.(while your at home and maybe no pants) If she doesn’t like wet panties (or poopy) it will motivate her not to wet them. Also to take her every hour.Set a timer! She will get used to the timer herself. She’s a smart girl she will catch on. Also bribery doesn’t hurt. But not every time. Make like a chart and every time she goes in the big pottty (even if if her panties are a wee bit wet wet) giver her a star and every 5 times she can have a treat that is special to her. I read that you don’t give your kids sweets but a few m and m’s can go a long way. And HELLO! and hour a day for TV, yeah maybe after they start school and aren’t home all day! Besides Veggie Tales rock!
The wet and dirty panties worked for me. If they went in them I’d let them stay in them wet for about 5 minutes before letting them change into a fresh pair. Worked with all 3 of my girls. As with Bridgette, there were tears from both of us but it worked. I also used a bigger prize, like a barbie, for 2 weeks with no daytime accidents. Also- let her go to the store and pick out her new big girl underwear. I figured that one out with the youngest. She didn’t want to get the new undies she’d picked out wet. I also found that asking if they had to go didn’t work well. I physically took them into the bathroom every 45 or so minutes. Good luck!

Potty training is an evil phrase to me right now. Everyone keeps asking when I will start training Little Monkey who is soon to be three years old in April. I’m not looking forward to this at all. Especially when my mother-in-law reminds me that she got all but one of her children (she had four) to potty train in one day…don’t ask me how, she got me the book to read almost a year ago and I scoff at it to this day.
did you ask the doctor how much tv he watches?
Your family photos are wonderful!
I’ll be back.
With my daughter who just turned 3 as well, i tried pull ups at first and took her to the bathroom every half hour. That quickly got old. She caught onto it but since she was in a pull up she decided to just use it anyway.
so i bought ALOT of underwear (she helped me pick them out) and just put them on her all day. I had to wash a lot of underwear but she got tired of having accidents and just started going by herself. It was a pain in the butt, but it worked.
Always pressure to potty train…My DD is two and no interest. Some people hold their infants over a toilet and call it potty trained. Weird.
I let my son run around naked and he was consistently using the potty within 3 days. He occasionally has accidents now, but never when he’s naked.
We all have these types of days or even weeks. As far the potty training goes, this worked for my daughter: Hand draw 5 boxes on a piece of paper; At the end of the fifth box put a picture of something that your child wants, i.e. a toy, game, favorite food, etc. When they go to the bathroom, they get to mark off a box. When they get the 5th box done, they get the item! Then you do 10 boxes the same way. After the 10th is done, another prize, but they will be potty trained by then. This worked for my daughter when I was training her to go #2. Good luck
If you’re sons ready def. start him off and your daughter will probably follow his lead. I’m trying to potty train my little girl (2 1/2) she loves the potty but doesn’t get the concept we try bout one day every two weeks and any time she asks for the potty in between to see if she’s ready to get the hang of it yet.
