Cooking with Kids – Bread Machine Pizza

Every time I work with a professional chef on my blog they tell me that including children in the shopping and cooking process will get them excited about eating different foods. Allowing them to help cook will make them excited about eating. I’ve been pretty lucky so far with their eating habits anyways but it’s a lot of fun for them to be included in the kitchen. It keeps them from whining and pulling on my legs the whole time I’m cooking.

Dad’s the best at letting the kids help. The other day he made homemade pizza. He made the dough in the bread machine and let the kids put the ingredients in.

Betty Crocker Pizza Dough

Ingredients:

1 c. warm water
1 pkg. dry yeast
1 tsp. sugar
1 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. oil
2 1/2 c. flour

To make it in the bread machine you put all the liquid ingredients in first. Then you put in the flour, salt and sugar and in the top make an indention and place the yeast inside the indention. Then turn on the bread machine setting to dough.

She helped put in all the ingredients into the bread machine. Her and Daddy work very well together. Then after the bread machine was done, we rolled the dough out into a glass pan. Cooked the pizza dough for 5 minutes on 425. (would have been better if we had cooked it at a lower temperature for longer. The dough was a little tough)

Used a 12 ounce can of pizza sauce and spread it across the dough.
Covered it in Cheddar Cheese (we were out of Mozzarella)
Then placed pepperoni on it.

Finished cooking the pizza at 425 because we were in a hurry, very bad decision but it still looked and tasted great.

It’s so easy! I love using my bread machine to make all kinds of bread dough, it just saves my hands all the kneading.

That’s awesome! My daughters favorite thing to help me make (besides cookies) is homemade pizza. Although, she does love to knead, her favorite part is eating it. She’d love it too!

so cute! Pizza looks good too….I’ve found that baking with kids is easier than other cooking methods, they love to pour and mix.

We love making homemade pizza! We don’t have a bread machine, and just make the dough by hand. The kids love to make their own personal pizzas decorating them with the topping they chose. It’s a friday night ritual for us. :) Your daughter looks like she was a big help :) .

Looks yummy! We don’t have a bread machine, but I’m always looking for another reason to get one. Homemade Pizza sounds like a good reason lol!

how great are bread machines?! I think I tried using it for pizza once, but was unhappy with the results. I will have to give your recipe a try, as I recall mine was a bit different. Thanks!

The best pizza dough for pizza. Just made it for lunch today and that made the best pizza I have had or made. It was so good that my dog could not stop eating it and tried eating the hole slice of pizza I had on my plate. My, my mom and dog enjoyed it very much, it turned out to be better then the other recipe we tried last night. Definetly will be keeping this recipe, and we will only use this recipe when we want pizza, I know we will not be ordering in or making any other pizza exept for this one only. If we know anyone that wants to try making homeade pizza we will definetly will be giving them this recipe.
