Destination Dinners sent us to Thailand where would you go #giveaway? RT

destination dinners

Destination Dinners is a company that makes recipe kits from around the globe. They throw in all the spices and mixes you will need and some of the sides like rice and fruit, if it’s dried like raisins. Then they provide a recipe and directions and all you have to do is purchase the perishables and throw everything together. Dinner in a box!

destination dinners2My lovely destination was Thailand and it smells so good. I love cooking with curry and coconut milk. Yumm. One of my favorite dishes is Curry Chicken. Thailand is an exotic place with a ton of culture. All of their buildings are shaped like temples and Buddha is everywhere. As much as I would love to go there; for now, Destination Dinners is getting me close enough.

The dinner kits start at 25.00 and go up to 30.00 but for an exotic night in I think these are the perfect price. They serve 6 – 8 adults and include things like, rice, cashews, raisins, Maggi®, white pepper, palm sugar, sugar, fish sauce, preparation instructions, shopping list, table setting suggestions and Tea & Trivia. The after product is supposed to look like this

Khao Ob Sapparod

But I didn’t cut my pineapple like that I just purchased pineapple in a can. The recipe is well laid out and easy to follow with everything already measured out for you.

The Prizes is a custom gift set set at above 50.00 and items depend on the destination you choose.

I don’t really have a crazy cooking experience because I don’t cook much =) But one time I was making home made mac & cheese and accidently dumped a TON of pepper in it and still tried to eat it…horrible!

I’ve been lucky and haven’t had a really crazy cooking experience yet. The worst has to be win I made the mistake of cooking Cajun food while drinking wine. It ended up so spicy that none of us could eat it and I’m a Cajun. It just about killed me to have to throw it away since I had about $25 in ingredients in it. We ended up calling for a pizza to be delivered.

  8. Jill Myrick says:

My craziest cooking experience was with a pressure cooker.
I had invited a lot of friends and family over to eat New Years dinner and was in the process of trying to finish everything before our guest arrived.
I had put some greens in the pressure cooker and they were about an hour away from being done as I went to check on them.
When I entered the kitchen something didn’t quite sound right. And as I walked toward the pressure cooker the weight suddenly blew off and greens were coming out where the weight sets in a huge explosion.
They were shooting straight up and onto my ceiling and all over my walls and stove. So I ran toward them to take them off of the stove.
Once I had cleaned what I could I went to go take a shower as I was covered in greens with a huge pile on top of my head and all over my face.
As I walked through the livingroom to go to the bathroom I found out that all of our friends had arrived on time. Needless to say I was mortified to show everyone my expert cooking skills that landed dinner on my head.

Thank you so much for the chance to win.

My craziest cooking experience is having a glass thermometer bubble up on the turkey I was making on Thanksgiving. I had forgotten to take it out when I was checking the temp!

  10. Lucy Schwartz says:

My family never had frozen Pizza when I was growing up. So as a teenager ,I went to bake a frozen pizza . I did take off the celophane wrap . I did not remove the pizza off the cardboard base……I’m suprised I did not need the local fire department.

  11. Barbara Wilson says:

It was the first time dear wanted to cook for me. He was going to make rice-a-roni but he was awfully sick. IN the mist of boiling it, he fainted. I caught him before he could face plant the stove. He hasn’t cooked since!

  12. Tammie says:

I was trying to make homemade dumplings for the first time and it turned out more like dough soup – it was so bad I almost burned out the garbage disposal!

  13. theodore esteghamat says:

Every time I cook, if the food is edible, it’s a good day.

  14. Laura Clemons says:

My craziest cooking experience is probably the first time I tried to make chicken curry from scratch, wow it was a complete disaster, the second time it came out wonderful. it was definitely a learning experience.

  15. Anne G says:

My craziest cooking experience was trying to teach my Indian roommate to cook hamburgers while in college. She decided about 10 minutes in that meat was gross and she wouldn’t touch it, which made it frustrating to try to make hamburgers. After that we made our own separate meals.

I’m always coming up with crazy cooking ideas (and disasters), but I remember making a casserole as a child and using 1 cup of minced dehydrated onions instead of 1 cup of chopped onions. Needless to say, it was completely inedible!

  27. MelodicMom says:

My craziest cooking experience was making Vodka Rigatoni for the first time. I used too much vodka and it scared me to death seeing the flames almost hit the top of the stove.

My craziest cooking experience was a few Christmases ago. We had extended family staying with us and each person had specific diets – none the same, of course! It was a mad house in the kitchen as I prepared four separate meals for each meal of the day…

  39. Candie L says:

I cannot cook. Anyone who knows me knows I am not allowed in the kitchen. Sometimes I have to cook breakfast for the small preschool I work at. I burnt precooked bacon. I had it in the oven and I was talking to a parent and I let them burn. Smoke and the burnt smell filled the entire school.

    Thank you

  45. I’m always trying new recipes I see on tv. I remember wanting to try a recipe that called for cactus leaves and so I went to my local grocery and asked the produce guy. He looked at me like I was crazy to want to eat cactus! He said doesn’t it hurt to eat that? Ummm, no, you don’t eat the prickly part. They didn’t carry cactus so I still have yet to try eating it. The Destination Dinners look awesome!

  46. Chrysa says:

Having to cook octopus that was smacked up against sea rocks for dinner once, eww..

  49. Betty C says:

My craziest cooking experience was just this last Christmas Eve. My children have all grown up and have their own families and I’ve only been cooking for two for a long time. For the last several years holiday dinners have been at one of my childrens homes with all the visitors bringing the side dishes. This year I decided to do the whole thing myself. It’s been far too long since I cooked for a dozen people and it certainly showed. I was nearly in tears until my son and daughter pitched in to finish everything.
