CBS brings Richard Scarry’s Busytown to life on Saturday Mornings

http://www.one2onenetwork.com/images/Busytown3.jpgWho what when where why and how,

Who what when where why and how

Who what when where why and how

Let’s solve this mystery.

I was telling my husband about having to review Busytown and he said Richard Scarry’s books?

How is it that my husband knows more about children’s items than I do? Richard Scarry’s books have sold over 150 million copies and have been translated into 30 different languages so I must be living under a rock to not know.

  • The half-hour program is made up of two 11-minute stories per episode,You can watch Busytown Mysteries on CBS weekend mornings in the Cookie Jar TV block of children’s programming..  Go to http://bit.ly/busytownsched to check when the series is airing in your area.

Busytown is the first series that I literally had to turn the tv off to get my daughter to move.  I’m not sure I’m going to say that’s a good thing. It’s an educational problem solving series with cute cat characters that I guess took over my daughter’s mind. We received a copy of two episodes to watch courtesy of One2onenetwork and we watched the same two episodes for three hours.

Busytown also entertains and educates kids at home with the fun, interactive website BusytownMysteries.com where kids can explore different neighborhoods in Busytown, interact with the Busytown characters and play 14 games and activities designed for preschoolers, including interactive games, a Fan Club and “My First Email,” which lets little ones email their progress to pre-approved friends and family addresses.

We went to explore the website and that took their attention away from the TV. They love interactive websites.

Let kids help in the kitchen with eebee’s cookbook adventure mix and mash

eebee_mix&mash_cover eebee is an interesting character that enters our house and encourages us to play and educate each other. What I mean by that is that my kids teach me how easy it is to teach them. Play time is learning time and you can see lots of examples from eebee’s adventures. Keep life fun, your kids will still learn. As long as they aren’t sitting mindlessly in front of the TV. every baby company, creators of the multi-award winning eebee’s adventures TV, DVDs, toy and book series, announces the release of eebee’s Mix&Mash adventures, the first ever cooking-with-your-baby book, published by Sterling Publishing, Co., Inc.

“Playful, creative, and smart, eebee’s Mix&Mash adventures is the perfect solution for families who want to start building good nutritional habits from the very beginning,” notes Today Show nutrition expert, Joy Bauer.

Each recipe is designed to encourage playful interactions. Every opportunity you spend with your child is going to help them develop and learn. They learn language, meaning, texture, taste it’s all there every day in every meal. For example, in the “Guacamol-ee Crunch” recipe, babies help to mash/mush/moosh fresh avocado and crushed cereal together in a sealed plastic bag which naturally leads to a “discussion” about colors, textures, and sounds.

Mix&Mash also includes a DVD, co-produced with Parents TV, which features Parents TV anchor, Juli Auclair, eebee, and Kristy Glass, eebee’s play partner in the popular eebee’s adventures series, demonstrating and discussing the learning opportunities and nutritional benefits of each recipe.  Activities such as these, called “eebee moments,” are also currently featured on Parents TV.

I will admit that I have the hardest time including my daughter in meal time. I just hate the mess and cleaning up. My husband has to help me relax and realize that teacher her and having her help clean up is more important than me and my clean kitchen. It’s ok if it gets dirty I can always clean it up. Seeing her smile in the end because she is so proud of what she has done makes it all worth it mess and all.

Food Network Cook or Be Cooked Video Game Review and #giveaway for the Wii

Food Network has entered the gaming industry. They have just released Food Network: Cook or be Cooked. Of course as I read on I find that I am a year late in finding out what Food Network has been cooking up for the Wii. Iron Chef America came out last year and now a year later they have Cook or Be Cooked. Food Network: Cook or be Cooked

I find this new game title to be very interesting. It’s get your but in gear or you lose. In a way it’s brining reality tv home to you. Just put in this game and face the challenges of creating food with your Wii Remote and Nunchuk. The level of difficulty rose as I went from dish to dish, not greatly, but enough to make it challenging and fun and giving my arms a workout. Just shows how very out of shape I am.

Foodnetwork Playing it goes quickly because there are only 12 levels/ recipes to make. Creating the recipes can be fun and time consuming but you get extra points for multitasking. Even with a multitasking element, dishes can be stalled by having to wait for something on the stove. Cook or Be Cooked acknowledges this problem during the preparation of lasagna: at the point in the recipe where it’s time to bake the lasagna, a large timer appears on the screen and speeds through 45 minutes of baking time. Now you have your stove back.

Food Network sent me a copy to review and I’m going to donate it, and a copy to giveaway to one lucky reader.

Get everything you need for Christmas in one stop at Borders New Toy Department 100.00 #giveaway

IMG_0147

As part of a new blogger program, Borders gave me 100.00 to spend in their store. I was overwhelmed by the kindness the manager showed me. I showed up expecting them to already know I was coming and my lifeline known as my phone was accidentally left at home. So when I showed up and they looked at me like I was crazy, the manager let me use one of their computers to get on the internet. I was able to find the contact information of the PR rep that set everything up for me. We called her and everything was taken care of in seconds.

Huge thanks to the manager of the Redmond Borders; because if she had told me no, I would have either had to go all the way home or to the library to print off the information I needed. I didn’t tell my husband this story because he would have laughed at me for not taking all the information with me in a hard printed out copy.

IMG_0148 You know, it’s hard enough to get out of the house with the kids, diapers, snacks, wallet, without forgetting my brain.

My husband’s gift was the easiest. I knew exactly what I wanted to get him and I”m not going to post it on the off chance that he takes a look at this post. He said he wants to be good since it’s his only present.

I spent the rest on the kids even though, I could have picked up a few things for other family members. I’m trying to go though my family members and make sure I have what each one needs.

Sister 3 Husband took care of it (she does read my blog so I can’t say)

Mom and Dad 1 – gave them a laptop (so they don’t get anything else, maybe a photo book)

Mom and Dad 2 – photo book,

The kids were hard because there was so much to choose from at Borders. The above photos are what you might expect before they added an entirely new toy department.

IMG_0150

With about four aisles of toys to choose from Borders has become a toy boutique. The employees upstairs were not quite as helpful as the manager and the cashiers. I really could have used some help carrying my load downstairs to the only register. I feel like if I had been at a boutique that they would have carried all of my stuff to the register for me. It was hard to corral my kids, with my arms full, but other than that the experience was great. I mean the price difference makes carrying my own toys to the register worth the struggle.

IMG_0152 In addition to so many name brand toys and books to choose from (all of them being learning and education aids for all ages) They have a table set up where kids can read and on the other side of the tower there was a play table for children. That is a lifeline to a mom that has to do her shopping with her children with her.

Many of the items I purchased were on sale. They had buy one get one half off of all Melissa and Doug items and their clearance was buy two get one free. So I was even more attracted to their clearance than all of the new toys they had. I came home with quite a hall of goodies. Knowing me, we’ll donate half of it. We’re going to have to empty out my closet before my surgery and figure out what is getting donated and what is going under the Christmas tree. Christmas might be upstairs in my bed this year. ;-)

Borders was kind enough to not only pay for my shopping experience but they want to provide one for two of my readers.

Kellogg’s Fruit Loops with Fiber Pass the Kid Test

Statistics show that an average of 9 out of 10 kids lack enough fiber in their diets? Which explains why every where you look food says “now with fiber”.  I had no idea it was that high, probably means I’m not getting enough fiber too. Kellogg’s knows how tough of a time we have finding ways to increase our child’s intake of anything healthy, and they came up with a great solution by adding a boost of fiber to some of their most popular kids’ cereals.

Yes, Kellogg’s did send me cereal to try, but we did purchase some just a week before the review was sent to us. I bought a huge box that we are still working on and we are enjoying them. My husband eats them for breakfast on Saturdays with the kids. We feel that eating meals together as a family is very important.

There are no changed other than the addition of Fiber. I check calories, sugar, vitamins, the cereal is still fortified with all of the nutrition you are looking for when caring for your family. They just added fiber and that is needed for healthy digestion.

I do want to say that my husband enjoys them. Which is funny because I was expecting  him to say these are disgusting and taste like cardboard. Because that is exactly what he thinks of Kellogg’s Fiber Pop Tarts. Kellogg’s you need to work on your pop tarts recipe with fiber.

Who wants toothpaste I do I do.

What mother can say anything to something so musical as this.princesszoe

It was time for bedtime a few nights ago and while we were walking up the stairs she started singing.

“Who Wants Toothpaste” and responded to her own question.

“I do I do”

It was a perfect mommy moment and I was so glad that daddy was there to hear it to.

We have struggled for so long with teeth time, even though she had this one good night we still struggle. I just know that some nights she’s going to want to brush. So I look forward to those nights.
