Dirt Devil Gator 10.8 Volt.does not compare to an Oreck handheld vacuum. But the Oreck advertises the strength of picking up a bowling ball and holding it. So I had to think about what my needs are and the fact that it does answer some of my needs. The Gator Series can be found in several different voltages (10.8-18V). The price is also a great deal ($29.99-$59.99). You can pick them up at Target, Best Buy, and DirtDevil.com.
This cordless vacuum is great for taking care of my stairs. The 10.8V is light and easy to handle but don’t use it on live spiders. The reason is they will just crawl right back out. I tried to suck up a spider and it crawled right back out when I was done. I almost screamed. Other than that it really does what I need it to. I can’t lug my hoover up and down the stairs trying to vacuum each stair so I can just use the Gator to clean it up. I also use it to get quick messes on the hard wood floor and my kids mats in the kitchen.
By pressing the two side buttons, the vac pops open, and you can dump your dirt into the trash without getting messy. But the filter looks awful but the good news is it is a reusable filter that you can rinse clean. My favorite part is the built-in crevice cleaner because it is so easy to use. The whole thing is easy.
