Dirt Devil Gator 10.8 Volt made me scream

IMG_3132 Dirt Devil Gator 10.8 Volt.does not compare to an Oreck handheld vacuum. But the Oreck advertises the strength of picking up a bowling ball and holding it. So I had to think about what my needs are and the fact that it does answer some of my needs. The Gator Series can be found in several different voltages (10.8-18V). The price is also a great deal ($29.99-$59.99). You can pick them up at Target, Best Buy, and DirtDevil.com.

IMG_3142 This cordless vacuum is great for taking care of my stairs. The 10.8V is light and easy to handle but don’t use it on live spiders. The reason is they will just crawl right back out. I tried to suck up a spider and it crawled right back out when I was done. I almost screamed. Other than that it really does what I need it to. I can’t lug my hoover up and down the stairs trying to vacuum each stair so I can just use the Gator to clean it up. I also use it to get quick messes on the hard wood floor and my kids mats in the kitchen.

By pressing the two side buttons, the vac pops open, and you can dump your dirt into the trash without getting messy. But the filter looks awful but the good news is it is a reusable filter that you can rinse clean. My favorite part is the built-in crevice cleaner because it is so easy to use. The whole thing is easy.

Leap Frog Learning DVD Set Donation

leapfrog

I am a bit irritated at myself because I wrote this post once already and instead of hitting publish I hit delete. Do you know how long it takes to write a good post/review with links and information about my family. I’m so angry at myself, esp since I didn’t even notice until last night that it wasn’t published. I was looking for the link to send to the rep who was kind enough to send us this from Lionsgate. MMMM.

So, Leap Frog Learning DVD set take two….

We were sent a copy of LeapFrog: Learning DVD Set to review, but what’s to review. We already reviewed two of the three DVD’s and then there are 26 alphabet Flash Cards that come along with the set. I know that we would get a lot of use out of them but at the same time I can see how this makes such a great addition to the Toy Drive. It is a great learning tool and well disguised as something for for kids to do.

Included are:

Leap Frog: Let’s Go To School my Let’s Go To School Review

Letter Factory (we have not viewed this one)

Leap Frog  Talking Word Factory my Talking Word Factory review

26 Flash Cards

LeapFrog logoWe love Leap Frog and Lionsgate. They are both excellent at making learning tools for children. Leap Frog products aid children in learning the alphabet, numbers, math, reading, and problem solving skills. I have been very impressed with all of the products we have purchased from them so far. Of course, they do have a hard time standing up to the toddler year, but we don’t pay any attention to “recommended age”.

Swinxs interactive activity game console #giveaway

Swinxs has been in our house for a week or two now. A toy I am keeping and recommend for the Christmas Gift Guide. Swinxs contacted me and asked me to do a review and when I saw the premise I was very excited to do this one. You see, this is an interactive toy that encourages kids to get off their bums!

I’m all over that one.

Swinxs is an interactive game console that you can take with you anywhere. It is chargeable over USB but also comes with a plug to plug into the wall. It is easy to set up and you can use your computer to customize it. It comes with about 10 different interactive games and it’s so much fun to watch my children play it. There are four bracelets that help the children interact with the toy but not all of the games require it.

For instance the fly swatting game. This is one of my families favorite games. To enter the game you swipe your bracelet, then you listen to the directions. Listen to the buzzing of the fly, when the fly lands you won’t hear the buzzing. Then you need to swat it. My kids love swatting the Swinxs. It makes a great loud sound.

swinxsThere is Swinxs dash, Swinxs jukebox and Swinxs quiz.. As a mom trying to get my kids to play more swinxs dash is awesome. The kids love it, they love an excuse to run like wild monkeys throughout the house touching things and running back to me. This game is awesome because they get so worked up and excited. They start smiling and tackeling each other and then they giggle. I took some video of it but I can’t transfer it right now. Makes me sad because they are adorable playing with swinxs. This is perfect for the rainy day spent inside.

As I said above it is customizable. You can upload music to your on-line swinxs account and then download the music onto your swinxs. You can choose from other games and you can write your own game. I’m going to have to show my husband so he can create a game for us.

Swinxs not only sent me one to review but they are also offering one to giveaway to one of my readers.

How many socks does it take to make a match?

socks

It’s Sunday and I did nothing yesterday so today I have been spending the day doing laundry. I was mostly inspired to do laundry because my son had to wear pink socks yesterday. All my husband could find was my daughter’s socks and my son’s feet were cold. Oh man.

My least favorite part of laundry is folding socks. I leave them forever. I figured for sure that my husband was just missing his socks, but no, he was right all of my sons socks were dirty. I decided to fold clothes and my husband came upstairs to help. He mated all of the socks for me and we got rid of all the socks that no longer fit either of our children. He still kept a few pairs of pink socks that no longer fit my daughter for sock emergencies. He is always prepared.

My questions remains though, how many pairs of socks do you have to have for your children so that there is a mate?

last december

This is a picture of my son from last December, look at his feet. Two mismatched socks. Now, I have no problem with mismatched socks, my problem is that it takes us forever just to find two socks that are the right size.

How many extra socks do I need to have to find a pair of socks?

Veggie Tales Saint Nicholas A Story of Joyful Giving

MY Ideas:

SAINT NICHOLAS VEGGIETALES DVD Veggie Tales: Saint Nicholas: A Story of Joyful Giving.

Knowing your vegetables never gets old. Bob the tomato, Larry the cucumber and junior the asparagus we love watching them in their adventures and this one is one of the best ones.

It is always so easy to forget the true meaning of Christmas. We just want to buy buy buy. It’s easy to forget being a review blogger because it’s like “christmas” every day. The delivery driver comes with boxes of stuff and my kids say is it a toy, is it for us? What is it?

To remind children the meaning of Christmas this time, they tell the story of St. Nick instead of the birth of Jesus. St. Nick gave to the poor. He gave out of what he had, it is more to give than to receive and even he had to learn that. So watching this made me even more sure that I want to give. Give out of the wealth that surrounds my children.

One thing we are planning on doing is my MOMS Club is going to do the Toy Drive and Cookie giveaway with our local food bank. We are going to take our children to the food bank to hand out the cookies and toys to others. I’m very excited about this and we always tell my my daughter when we are giving something away. I just want her to understand the meaning of giving.

Of course when it comes time for Christmas we’ll celebrate it the right way! No, I don’t mean with presents, I mean with honoring the birth of Jesus.

Thanks to The Family Review Network and Big Idea we received a copy of this to review.

Lionsgate presents Fraggle Rock A Merry Fraggle Holiday, and The complete final season

Fraggle Rock: A Merry Fraggle Holiday

Fraggle Rock: A Merry Fraggle Holiday

With so many old school goodies going to DVD it’s hard to keep yourself from purchasing all of them. Last year for Christmas we purchased Fraggle Rock Season 1, 2 and 3. This year thanks to my blog Loinsgate sent us the Complete final season to review. They also sent us Fraggle Rock: A Merry Fraggle Holiday. My husband said that Fraggle Rock: A Merry Fraggle Holiday did not have anything extra on it taht wasn’t on any of the other DVD’s so we are adding it to the donation pile. The Toy Drive with MOMS Club of Woodinville and the Maltby Food Bank

Fraggle Rock: The Complete Final Season.

Fraggle Rock: The Complete Final SeasonI loved watching Fraggle Rock. I grew up with Sesame Street, the Muppet Babies and Fraggle Rock, I was a tv junkie and I still am. I even let my kids watch too much tv. I’m not worried about it anymore because believe me they have shown no lack of intelligence. They sing the songs and dance to the tunes. It’s been great.

“Oh Look Ma,” “I caught a fraggle”.

Who doesn’t love Sprocket? He is the biggest most fluffiest of dogs. He’s super smart and knows about the Fraggle world. If only humans were so in tuned. We watched the first disc, I haven’t watched all of it yet but it’s been added to our Fraggle library.

Reflecting on the last year as a blogger and deciding to make a difference.

IMG_1131Looking back at my posts and where I was a year ago I am in a completely different place.

Last year my goal was to get my blog in a position to have one giveaway a day. If I had time to post properly I would have one giveaway a day. I would say I have at least 45 giveaways a month. Now that I’m doing that it’s a lot of work. There is a lot of e-mail to go through and a lot of products in and out the door.

I have readers now and I appreciate you. I really enjoy knowing you care. When you leave me a comment about making sure that I’m taking care of my depression or how my kids are doing, or laughing at the fact that I can’t read directions. My RSS feed count is up to 814 subscribers. I wonder if I stopped hosting giveaways if my number would decrease

I made my goal.

Looking back I noticed that I didn’t post every day. I only posted a few times a week and wrote about four posts on Fridays and I haven’t posted any of those Friday Memes in about a month. I was participating in Fitness Friday with the Wii Fit moms, Aloha Friday with Kailani, and writing with the Parent Bloggers Network for the PBN Blog Blasts. I was writing with them in hopes to win a prize and more often than not I won something. Aww, to go back to entering contests instead of hosting them.

Where was I last year, I was writing about pop tarts and spending too much money at Albertsons. Now, I haven’t mentioned pop tarts in a while, for the longest time it was my highest search word in my stats, not it’s Disney on Ice. Not so sure about that one. I’ve only written about Disney on Ice twice.

My stats are huge but does it mean anything?

Yes, I think I’m really trying to decide that even if I don’t have a lot of influence I’m making money on my blog. My traffic a llows me to charge a decent amount for a post, even though I go up or down depending on the source. I am part of an ad network that makes about 100.00 a month. I can get 100 entries in a giveaway without advertising it. That’s a nice thing. Sometimes I don’t get it advertised until a week after it’s posted.

My stats allow me to work with companies and make a difference. I am currently using my blog to acquire donations. I have a MOMS Club gift basket that I put together and raised over 1000.00 in products and have a toy drive that I’m putting together that should be twice as much by the time I am done with it.

My friend asked me why I was going to so much trouble with my blog.

“Because I want to make a difference”

I want to give to charity, I want to help others, I want to be a difference, in my community and on-line. I want to inspire. I GIVE MY REVIEW ITEMS AWAY!

After adding up all of the products that I have donated I was blown away that I have that much merchandise in my closet. How crazy that some bloggers keep it all or think they can’t donate it because they opened it up and tested it for a review. Guess what, keep the box it goes back in. Make a difference in your community or with Bloggers Give.

Goal for next year:

To still be here and making a difference in the blogging community

My Favorite Eastwick Character is Kat

kat

Kat is my favorite character on Eastwick because I love the thought of controlling the elements. She has the ability to control, wind, rain, water and fire. She doesn’t yet quite understand her ability or that she even has this power yet. See, she doesn’t believe in witch craft but I’m thinking she’s going to really soon.

She is also the mother of five and absolutely stunning. I love her flowing red hair and love for her friends. She would walk through fire for them. In the episode “bonfires and betrayal” that you can watch on-line now she does walk through fire trying to save her friend Joanna.

I hate to admit that I just love to watch this show at night before bedtime. Shhh, don’t tell my secret.

I have been hired by Warner Bros WB Word division to raise awareness for Eastwick on ABC.
