Mommy I’m going to go pee pee on the potty, No Mommy I don’t need your help

BABYBJÖRN Potty ChairWe’re not done with potty training and we have a long way to go but we have made a huge break through. My daughter just announced the other day that she was going to go potty. I was so proud because she did it herself. All by herself. She just needed help pulling her pants back up and i think it’s just because Pull Ups are snug.

So today I decided to be brave and I told her we’re taking off the Pull Ups and she has to go pee pee in the potty. Yes we had an accident on the floor, which isn’t a big deal to me because I know that’s huge motivation for her. She hates messes. I just need to learn how to catch her in the poop phase before we have a really big mess.

I have heard so much advice on potty training and waiting has been the best thing for us. She just tells me when she needs to go and is starting to use it on her own more often. I just have to make sure she’s dressed, and washes her hands.

Other mother’s around me suggested that if I ask her every hour to go potty that will help and to stay home for 3 days straight to keep from having accidents in the car seat. Hmm, my kids drink a lot of water so I’m really nervous about all this but since I know she’s ready here we go. Now, bigger than potty training, how do I deal with her not needing me?

Wish us luck!

Of course, some of you already have and thanks for that!

Good Luck! Potty training my first made me want to cry every night for three nights. And I’m a tough cookie. I’m starting on the next child next month. So I’ll make sure the pee in the potty Elmo has batteries and I have a new bag of M&Ms for rewards. The one tip I offer is to double bag the bed so that night time mistakes are quick clean-up. I put down one sheet then a plastic table cloth and then another sheet.

  2. Tamara B. says

Girls are so much easier to potty train than boys. I use to take my children to the bathroom every hour on the hour and before you know bye bye diapers.

  3. Anna says

I’d recommend getting a potty to put in the trunk of the car. And one m&m can be very motivating if you want her to pee before you go out! Also, you can get a piddle pad for the car seat if you are concerned – we never did but a friend of mine did. Good luck!

  4. Summer Oleksy says

You’ll done fine with the potty training … no advise on the not needing you! Jamison just pees his pants if I don’t help him … It’s really just the fact that he wants to be with me. He real misses my attention since Riley was born!

    Yeah Zoe!!!!
