President Obama The day and life of a President kids Time Magazine #Giveaway

time

I think the first time I saw a copy of this was when I was walking down the book aisle at Target. I was thinking I should probably get this for my kids because they are going to have to do a report on this some day in school. President Obama is the first African American President, he hasn’t even completed his first year and office and he won the Nobel Peace Prize. I mean, this issue of Time for Kids came out before he won the Nobel Peace prize but it is still an interesting read.

The pictures are wonderful and I’m always up for seeing how Michelle has picked out the best outfits for her entire family. The President always looks super sharp as do both of her daughters. In A Day in the Life of America’s Leader you can ready how Barak Obama made it to the White House, Who helps Obama make the Tough Calls, and see behind the scenes with the family and inside the White House.

I am proud to be an American and feel that if I agree with all his platforms or not he is a good leader for this Country.

So I present to you:

TIME For Kids President Obama: A Day in the Life of America’s Leader

Astro Boy Movie Review

as Astro Boy was released to the movie theaters today and I meant to post my movie review before the movie came out. OOPS.

I recommend that if you are a mother like me that wears her heart on her sleeve at all times that you know the premise of the movie before you watch it. Otherwise within the first 10 minutes of the movie you are going to be in tears and utterly depressed for the first half of the movie.

Astro Boy PosterSo Astro Boy is a robot, he is the perfect robot run on purely good unending energy. He came into being because Dr. Tenma lost his son Toby in a robot testing experiment. His grief led him to try to make the perfect replacement and he didn’t realize that it was a success because he didn’t really know his son. So he tells the robot you aren’t my son. It broke his heart because as far as he knew he was Toby. I was bawling, for a few reasons.

One, my children were in the other room and I am hardly ever without them. Two, I imagined the loss of my child and knew how crazy I would go. Thirdly, I could imagine how hurt and alone Toby/Astro Boy felt. It was funny because my husband and I were sitting next to each other like we were on a date that we haven’t been on in almost three years. My husband became very concerned about my reaction to the movie and told me I could go check on the kids if I needed to.

I didn’t and the movie changed in spirit a bit as Astro had to go out in the world and find himself. Who is he and what all can he do with his new found abilities. He finds himself an outcast on the planet below Metro City where he was created and makes some friends who don’t like robots. He keeps the fact that he is a robot to himself and later finds himself alone again. He then sees his creator again and after an exchange of words, Dr. Tenma realized he made a mistake in sending Toby away like that. From there he has to fight the President and the rest of the story reaches it’s climax. This is when I had to leave.

It was a good clean movie. There is no language or inappropriate anecdotes. Once I got over the initial pain and darkness I found myself laughing at the humor. Later in the movie my children joined us and just as the climax of the movie started I had to leave because the scary robot scared my daughter and I didn’t want her to have nightmares just so I could finish a movie.

My husband is impressed because it is a family movie, not created by Disney or Pixar (I know they are the same thing now) and excellent for families.

This booth is saved for a family

Red Robin Gourmet BurgersMy family went out to eat tonight because we were running errands all day and I didn’t want to cook. I’m tired and need to take it easy until after I have surgery so we went out. My sister in law is visiting us so we total five.

We chose Red Robin because it is a very family friendly restaurant, usually. The food is good and you can get fruit and veggies instead of fries. When we arrived it just started pouring down rain. So we ran inside and they welcomed us in but then after they asked how many we had in our party they got a little quite and upset.

“We have three adults and need two booster seats”

FIVE

It took two of them to decide where to put us even though there was plenty of seating because we got there before the dinner rush even started. I think it was between 4:30 and 4:45. Each corner in the restaurant had a round booth so that makes four corners. Only one of them was in use.

The greeter told the person who seated us where to put us but she replied..

“I’m saving that for a FAMILY”

Umm, what are we?

I think a mom, a dad and aunt and two children qualifies as a family right. My husband told me the statement made him a little sad because he thought it was quite obvious that we were a family. What could have been the disqualifying factor, were we not big enough?

I’m a skeptic by nature, so I always wonder if things like this are too good to be true. It says that the FDA have not evaluated their statements – I would think if it did all it said, everyone would use it. That being said, it does contain calcium, which is recommended for people with bone problems. I would love to win this for my Grandma – after all, it couldn’t hurt to try it. Thank you for the giveaway, and I hope you feel better soon. ((hugs))

  • Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince Live Community Screening with Daniel Radcliff

hp I am a huge Harry Potter Fan. I loved the books and I would probably re-read them if I had digital copies instead of big bulky hard back books. So instead I just watch my DVD’s over and over again and go see them in the movie theater if I get the chance. I have not had the chance to see the newest one Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince yet and what fun it would be to see it live with Daniel Radcliffe.

Experience the first-ever worldwide Live Community Screening (LCS) exclusive to owners of the Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince Blu-ray Disc and hear star Daniel Radcliffe and director David Yates answer your questions during this live LCS on December 12th, 2009.  Also be the first to see footage from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, featured on the Blu-ray and 2-Disc Special Editions of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, available on December 8th, 2009.

The worldwide LCS, which showcases the expansive capabilities and interactivity offered with Blu-ray and Warner Bros. BD-Live, will take place on December 12th at 12:00PM PST  (3:00PM EST) live from London.  The LCS will allow BD-Live capable Blu-ray users to simultaneously watch the movie together with Daniel Radcliffe and director David Yates and hear an interactive Q&A where fans can ask questions about the blockbuster film directly to Daniel and David, directly from their home.

“I’m really looking forward to the Live Community Screening of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and excited to talk directly to fans of the movie about my experiences and answer their questions,” said Daniel Radcliffe.  “It’s a wonderful way for fans and for those directly involved with making a film to share opinions and ideas.”

According to director David Yates, “It’s a tremendous honor to be invited to host the first worldwide Live Community Screening and to have the opportunity to talk directly to fans across the globe.  I’m looking forward to engaging with the thoughts and opinions of the fans who have supported us so loyally and passionately over the years – without them the films wouldn’t be the success they are.”

Warner Bros. BD-Live is an interactive feature exclusive to the Blu-ray format that allows

users to experience a variety of exclusive interactive features.  In addition to access to the multi-territory LCS, other exciting BD-Live content available to Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince Blu-ray owners include:

    · An exclusive introduction to the upcoming Harry Potter Ultimate Editions by Daniel Radcliffe

    · My Commentary – fans are able to post user-generated Picture-in-Picture commentary over the film and share it with their friends and other BD-Live community members

    · Live Community Screenings – Allows users to send invitations and have a virtual screening with friends and family while chatting together through the BD-Live platform

    · Facebook Connect – allows users to interact with their Facebook friends, update their Facebook status while in BD-Live and invite their Facebook friends to Live Community screenings.

Warner Bros. BD-Live community members who have registered and signed up for the Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince LCS will receive an emailed invitation to participate in the event. The first 100,000 members who RSVP will secure a spot for the screening. WB BD-Live registered users from the participating territories who own the Blu-ray Disc and have signed up for the BD-Live LCS event will be able to insert the disc, connect to WB BD-Live and logon to the LCS at this designated time to participate in this ground breaking exclusive event.

BD-Live is only accessible through a BD-Live enabled Blu-ray Disc™ played on an Internet-connected Blu-ray player (including PlayStation®3) with BD-Live capabilities and sufficient data storage.  Please consult your Player Manual or Player Support Website for more information.

CoCooi Baby Wrap From Merino Kids made a donation and are providing a #giveaway

    Donation:

Merino Kids Cocooi Babywrap Swaddle, Periwinkle BlueMerino Kids sent me a CoCooi to review and use as a donation. I opened it and felt it and yes it was soft. It was a very soft pale blue in color and thin. I liked that it was think want to know why? Babies can get so hot so easily when they are bundled and they do sleep best and most safely when they are bundled up tightly. Being bundled reminds them of how cramped they were inside of the womb and also keeps them warm and safe. Keeping them bundled helps prevent Sids.

My son would often get too hot, and we had to just use blankets. I was looking at the design of the cocooi and I really liked it. It’s simple and you put your child in it, then you just use the sides to wrap around the baby tightly. It is a lot easier than what they show you in the hospital with receiving blankets and I did that twice.

    About Merino Baby Sleep Bags

Merino Kids Cocooi Babywrap Swaddle, Periwinkle BlueThe Merino Kids Baby Sleep Bag is the ultimate stylish and functional baby sleep sack for discerning parents and it was awarded the Seal of Outstanding Design Quality in the prestigious 2007 International Forum Product Design Awards. Its award-winning design, remarkable natural merino fabric and quality workmanship set it apart.

Merino Kids Cocooi Babywrap Swaddle, Periwinkle BlueYour baby has the freedom to move naturally in their Merino Kids sleep sack, but unlike with sheets and blankets, they cannot get entangled or wriggle out and they do not wake uncovered and cold. This means your baby sleeps better as they stay cozy and warm all night without overheating.

The Merino Kids baby sleep sack fits babies up to two years Merino Kids Cocooi Babywrap Swaddle, Periwinkle Blueold and you won’t need to buy larger sizes every few months as your baby grows. The contoured knitted bodice fits snugly around your baby’s chest and neckline ensuring the fabric stays clear of their face, and as an extra precaution press studs under the arms prevent newborn babies slipping down.

OgoSport Toys made a donation for a review and #giveaway

Super Sports DisksOgoSport sent us a Super Sports Disk and some darts to review and it went out of the box into my hands into my husbands hands and then I reminded him that we are not keeping it because we are donating as much of my blog as we possibly can and he made a sad face and put it back into the box for me. ;-)

Wow, that was a long sentence

ogoSport makes the hottest sports toys that I have seen in a long time. Maybe I’m not at the toy shows and in enough toy stores but I haven’t seen my husband get so excited about a Frisbee in a long time. .

My kids wanted to play with it too. It’s soft so I feel it would be completely safe for them to play with they just won’t have quite the coordination skills needed to play it right but as long as they are playing and moving and having a good time then that’s what it’s all about right. We might have to get some of these for Christmas since we’re not keeping the free ones they sent us. The middle is meshy feeling and is great for using as a racket to bounce the kushie ball back and fourth. The Super Sports Disks are more than one toy in one. They encourage fun and ingenuity.

More children need to get up and out of the house for play time. When I was a kid I was locked out of the house. My sister and I both joke how we were left outside in the Texas sun with two huge glasses of ice water and access to the hose to re-fill our cups, but my memory tells me that’s exactly how it was all joking aside.

    About OgoSport:

We are designers. But we don’t just design products. From award-winning classics like the Super SportsDisk to newer creations like Getta Grip, we don’t just design toys or sporting goods – we design something more…We design active play for all ages. We design endless hours of fun for your children. And hours of fun with your children. OgoSport was founded in 2005 by a duo of accomplished designers from world-renowned school of  design, the Pratt Institute. Our talented roster of creators formed the company to question the current direction of play, and these inquires have inspired us to seek new directions in product development.  Accordingly, we have set the following criteria for products that carry the OgoSport name:

    Encourage active play and exercise
Age ranges span from young children to grandparents
Encourage play between all age combinations in-between
Allow for open-ended exploration and experimentation
Opportunities for both indoor and outdoor play
Benefits for therapy and children with special needs
    Safety, quality, and integrity
    Batteries not required

Donation from The Sak and I want to Keep It.

10401_madera_blast-2  The Sak Sent me a beautiful purple leather purse and I wanted to keep it. It is a donation for my MOMS Club gift basket raffle and they donated one last year too. I didn’t like the one last year and was hoping they would send another ugly purse. Nope, of course ugly from The Sak and Elliott Lucca is like an impossible word combination anyways. Something to me that is ugly is probably Gold to someone else like my mother.

I wanted to write a thank you to The Sak and Elliot Luca for being an avid supporter of Mom Start and my charity.

    1000025805

The above picture is what they sent except in a beautiful shade of purple. Please don’t laugh at me but it’s so soft I want to curl up in bed with it and use it as a pillow/snuggie. My son has a snuggie so I think I should get to have one too.

The next two photos are new editions that you can find at the Sak and Elliott Lucca

    Prima Princessa Ballarina Nutcracker

    image

One of my favorite things about Christmas is The Nutcracker. I love the Nutcracker. I love going to see it live, I love watching it at my house and I was in it when I was in elementary school. I went to a private school and my dad didn’t have extra money. I think we could barely afford the school but he wanted me to have a good Catholic education so when I was up for the lead and didn’t get it I think it’s because the other girl’s family had more money. Ahh, I’m too shy for so much attention anyways.

    Prima Princessa Presents The Nutcracker

I was pleasantly surprised when I watched this because I didn’t know what to expect. I didn’t think it would be appropriate for Zoe yet but why was I surprised when both Zoe and Miles wanted to get up and dance when they were doing the teaching segments in-between some of the scenes. Hmm, I’ll never know about something until I try it and see it through my kids’ eyes.

The Obama Dynasty reminds me of the Kennedy family

Obama I have been thinking about this post for quite a while now. I am not a Democrat, and I did not vote for Obama, but I wanted to vote for him. There was only one tiny reason I didn’t vote for him and I”m not going to get into that because I think he’s a great President and good for our Country. From the beginning when they were elected I have absolutely loved Michelle Obama’s choices. To me she is like Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. I mean, she is grace and style. I have a Kids’s Time Magazine that I’m supposed to be writing a review for and there is a picture of her gardening in boots, leggings, a sweater dress with a black belt. Who gardens in an outfit like that. Me, I’m in the ugliest dirtiest clothes I can find. Stacy and Clinton would have my hide if they saw me in the garden.

Michelle, the First lady makes dressing up look so easy. She wears the latest trends, no I take that back, she makes the latest trends whenever she throws something together. She dresses her daughters up to the nines as well. I wish children of our country would look at her children the way women look up to her. I’m so tired of Hannah Montana and the next Disney wanna be.

According to NBC, Michelle Obama sets the newest trends the make stores sell out of what she was sporting around town. Take for instance the toy watch. Michelle has been seen wearing this purple toy watch and now it’s everywhere. There is this one blog that I see when I occasionally drop my entrecard and they never update their blog, but that’s when I first saw this toy watch and thought well my daughter would love it. I personally like small watches. But it’s like she’s a mega super star because now even Hollywood is following her fashion trends. Thanks to her outfit she wore from JCrew when she was on the Tonight Show AOL Beauty & Style are keeping up with everything she wears now. They even re-create the outfit so that you too can purchase it and be a fashionista.

If I had the money to invest in my wardrobe I would strive to dress with the same class and elegance that I see on the first lady. So marketing to Michelle is the way to go. If she is seen wearing it, it is likely to be on someone else near you very soon.
