Mom Start Saving: Get points for printing coupons at MyPoints

MyPoints

Another way I save money and earn money at the same time is by printing my coupons at MyPoints. MyPoints is a site where you can earn points in quite a few different ways. Points can then be redeemed for gift cards at quite a few different locations. There really are 1000 of places to get gift cards from and you get all the great deals e-mailed to your inbox.

One, I am a buzz agent and I get free products in exchange for sharing buzz about the products. Then when I go back and fill out a report about all the buzz I shared I get 50 points for every time and then it is transferred to MyPoints.

BzzAgent Badge

Two, I get e-mails every day about three a day and for each click I get 5 points so that’s about 15 points a day. Sometimes I get more and sometimes I get less. Most of the time though I only click all of them on Sunday. I have a hard time getting through my e-mail because of my blog so MyPoints e-mails sometimes just get deleted.

They also send out surveys which would be number three for me but I get way to busy with everything in my life so I hardly ever do the surveys. You can do the profile surveys and get points that way too.

They also have a referral point system but I can’t ever remember my referral id so I hardly get points that way.

So thirdly for me. I get points for printing coupons and then I get points for redeeming them too. It’s nice that you get points for both.

Fourthly, I earn points by making purchases. I purchase entertainment books through mypoints and other things from time to time. I’m currently working towards a 50.00 Amazon.com gift card.

Points can also be earned by downloading their search bar and doing searches every month but I think it slows down my browser more than I like so I don’t use it. It is the fastest way other than making purchases to earn points on my points though.

I just noticed tonight that they have the frogpond at MyPoints. By visiting a certain site that they provide then coming back to my points and filling out a survey and sharing your opinion you can earn 25 points.

Now so you have an idea about how much points are worth.

1.00 = 140 points roughly

Christmas Cafe – Dora’s Christmas

image

Now, knowing that I have the smartest 18 month old in the world (yes I am a biased loving mother) I warn you, he knows all the words to this CD.

As a family we have listed to this CD more than any of our other Christmas Albums so far. Why, because it comes highly requested and my husband and I love to listen to our little music man sing.

Hearing him say “Wiggle Wiggle Giggle Giggle” is hilarious. Then when we laugh at him he’ll smile and say it twice as fast and with a smile on his face. I mean he is a crack up.

milesfit

Here he is throwing a fit and all I want to do is laugh at him again. Oh, the joys of being a mom, even in the pits of darkness at times make me laugh my bum off.

So back to Dora’s Christmas, the CD has 16 songs that keep us singing for quite a long time because we listen to it over and over again. The songs like Wiggle Wiggle and Shake Shake Shake keep us moving and smiling. We sing in English and Spanish along with Dora, Boots and Swiper. I never wanted to be a Dora loving family but now we are.

I like how some of the songs are about teaching great lessons, no swiping, and about cleaning up. Mom needs help keeping that house clean. Now being one I completely understand why chores exist.

There Isn’t a Ceiling on Possibility

By Marlise Karlin

For years, women have been held back by the infamous ‘glass ceiling’  and have also felt stifled or riddled with restrictive thoughts running through their minds daily when it comes to both their personal and professional goals:

‘Why even try?  It’s too hard.  It will never happen.’

When resignation and anxiety weave through our minds like a sticky web of confusion – it’s time to play “The Possibility of Five.”

We all have to deal with the practical of life where the path we take appears blocked.  But, when we realize it might be happening to enlighten us of ‘adjustments’ we need to make – the door to possibility opens.  It’s then we can choose new ways to approach where our mind has been spinning in misery and misconception.

The Possibility of Five:

Look for what challenges you most. Find the five possibilities that create a solution – ones that will make you love life again – allowing you to know the world isn’t black & white – but many shades of exquisite gray.

1) Slow your mind and connect to your source of inspiration by tapping into Stillness, whether it’s in a few deep breaths or a longer session.

2) Review the question in your mind that has you asking for new answers. Let it stroll through the Stillness until ideas arise.

3) List at least five possibilities in a journal that lead will lead to positive outcome.

4) Feel the weight being lifted from your shoulders as you see there is always more than one-way it-has-to-be.

5) Empower yourself to take inspired action on the possibilities that now lie ahead of you.

No matter whom the individuals are that surround you, no matter what cynicism grips them – are a generous, empowering, inspiring source of energy that can shift concepts in a moment and bring the power of possibility alive.

When we are connected to that core of strength, love and potential that exists within every human being – doors open to more possibility than we ever dreamed.  Why not try it now with your child, yourself, and your mate.

Smile SquadTM Teaches Dental Health Lessons Through Fun Activities

Activities available at www.smilesquadhq.com

Oak Brook, Ill. (October 13, 2009) –Delta Dental Plans Association, the nation’s leading dental benefits provider, today launched the Smile SquadTM, a group of young heroes created to educate children about the importance of good oral health through fun and educational activities at www.smilesquadhq.com.

Each of the four Smile Squad heroes – Sparkle, Glint, Pearl and Chomp – represents an important aspect of maintaining good oral health. The heroes utilize good habits and smart actions to combat Captain Cavity and the efforts of his malevolent Mouth Marauders to wreak havoc on children’s oral health.

“In line with our mission to promote good oral health, we developed the Smile Squad to provide a fun way for children and parents to learn how to take care of and improve their oral health,” said Kim Volk, president and CEO of Delta Dental Plans Association.

The Web site features illustrations and bios of all heroes and villains, serves as the headquarters for the Smile Squad heroes and offers a variety of activities for children and parents to enjoy while immersing themselves in positive dental health information.

A few of the activities include:

· Smile Squad Card Game – A downloadable version of the Smile Squad card game teaches kids important oral health tips and techniques. By matching hero and villain cards with oral health action cards, players score points toward the goal of 32 points – the number of permanent teeth in a healthy smile.

· Join the Smile Squad – An invitation to join the Smile Squad allows kids to create personal characters and playing cards. To join, kids must download and print out a pledge card, declaring their commitment to practice good oral health habits as an honorary member of the Smile Squad.

· Adventures – A series of comic-book style adventures quizzes children throughout and then rewards them for making good oral health choices by advancing the story.

· Color Me Happy – Parents can print downloadable coloring pages for their kids as a reward for demonstrating good oral health habits.

· Online Games – A variety of games from simple shooters to card-matching time trials convey critical oral health information.

Parents and children can also sign up to receive e-mail alerts when new adventure episodes and other exciting features become available.

The not-for-profit Delta Dental Plans Association (www.deltadental.com) based in Oak Brook, Ill., is the leading national network of 39 independent dental service corporations specializing in providing dental benefits programs to more than 54 million Americans in more than 89,000 employee groups throughout the country. In 2007, Delta Dental formed a partnership with the National Head Start Association to help improve the oral health of the nation’s children at a critical time in their development.

Jones Soda Holiday Flavors are worth trying #giveaway

clip_image001My husband and I are the crazy flavor testers for new products that come out from Jones Soda. No, we don’t work for them and yes we purchase them. We love their Halloween flavors but we didn’t purchase any this year. He and I have different favorites and since we don’t want our kids to drink them we just thought it would be easier to not even have them in the house.

I love the Candy Corn and he likes, all the rest; sour apple, Carmel apple, I mean I can’t even remember all of the crazy names and flavors.

For the Holidays though Jones Soda is famous for their holiday set.

We purchased two sets one year, I’m not sure they make this Holiday Pack anymore; but we tried them all. I liked mashed potato and butter and cranberry soda. I’m not sure what my husband liked as it was a long time ago. But it was so much fun for us.

This holiday season, Jones Soda Co. is releasing a new line of festive myJones bottles that can be customized for that special person or used as a creative and economical greeting card for all.  Commemorate precious moments and special people for an unforgettable heart felt gift, stocking stuffer or party favor.

Creating myJones is quick and simple – gift givers can log onto www.myJones.com, submit a photo, a personal greeting and choose from four holiday flavors:

Holiday Cheer – Strawberry Lime

Reindeer Root Beer – Root Beer

Evergreen Apple – Green Apple

Snowdrift Soda – Cream Soda

clip_image001[4]

6 or 12-packs are available for $16.99 or $29.99 plus shipping and arrive in approximately 3- 4 weeks. Year-round, the possibilities are endless for myJones as a gift for all seasons, a party favor with a decorative flair or an off-the-wall method to honor milestones. All Jones Soda products are made with pure cane sugar and contain no high fructose corn syrup and are very addicting.

So you can go to My Jones and pick your flavor, upload your photo and order your case. I think if my husband and I were to get married again we would do this instead of the apple cider we did with our wedding information on it. These are UV protected color photos.

See Miles run in See Kai Run or Smaller Shoe #giveaway

I have known about See Kai Run for quite a few years. I have sold probably close to 50 pairs of them and purchased quite a few myself. My daughter’s first pair of shoes were purchased. They were See Kai Run tennis shoes and they were pink and velcro. I just feel in love with how adorable they were and putting them on her chubby feet was very easy to do.

Babies often have chubby feet and brands like Nike, Addidas, and New Balance are not made with the chubbiness in mind. They also are not as flexible as See Kai Run. In my not so expert opinion I feel that you should be able to fold a shoe for a child completely in half. Especially if it is a first shoe or for a walker that is still a bit wobbly. You can have a flexible shoe that is still sturdy. milesskr

The last pair I received from See Kai Run was from the Summer Back To School party I did with a few other bloggers. I wanted to say, please you don’t need to send me a pair, I already know and believe that you have good quality shoes. But I didn’t I accepted the “free” pair along with all the other bloggers participating. I mean it saved me some money and my son needed some new shoes.

However, shoes don’t last forever because little guys grow fast. So, I was at the store and picked up another pair of shoes for my son. It felt good to purchase them myself and know that I was supporting a local company. I mean, Woodinville is my backyard now and that is where this family run business is based.

shoes I have to say as a purchaser in retail and a purchaser/ consumer this company stands behind the product they sell. They take back their shoes if they have defects and delivery is so fast. I used to fax in orders and they would come the next day. When I order on-line they come super fast too. I do really like going into a store that carries them though so I can get the tactile feel even though I know I’m going to love them. And as you can see this new pair has my son playing and sliding at the park just like his last pair of See Kai Run.

I asked See Kai Run if they would allow me to host a giveaway and they said yes.

Why?

Because they are an awesome company and they know I love their shoes. I would love to work for them if they had an opening for a stay at home mom. ;-) And because of FTC Regulations, you the reader can trust my opinion on these shoes because I have purchased them for both of my children. I’ve purchased more than one pair for each of my children. Yes I think they can be pricey but everyone has sales. You just have to buy them off season if you don’t want to pay full price. I’ve been paying full price, well except for their sandals, I always buy their sandals off season and hope they fit the next year.

The Visual MD Infant Nutrition Video Help for Moms

“I wrote this review while participating in a blog campaign by Mom Central on behalf of Mead Johnson. Mom Central sent me a gift card to thank me for taking the time to participate.”

visual md

The Visual MD Infant Nutrition website is quite a website. It’s not for the faint of heart because it is high definition video of projects involving infants and infant care. I was completely shocked at what I found at their site. Let me start by telling you why I signed up for this blog tour with Mom Central.

I signed up when I found out that Mead Johnson the makers of Enfamil were making a website about Infant Nutrition. I wanted to learn more and help support them because my son survived on their special formula Nutramigen. They were also very helpful in helping me find ways to pay for my formula. They sent coupons, rebate checks and even sent me forms to submit to my insurance because it was a medical need that he had.

I expected to find just another run of the mill business website that is a support center. I mean, you know all businesses are making on-line forums and “community” sites where you can log on and find information about products and facts that pertain to those products.

Site Description:

Developed as a resource for Moms, the website brings together information from leading health centers and researchers across the country to explain how nutrition is crucial to infant development. How can you make sure that your newborn gets the nutrients she needs to ensure healthy growth through her first birthday? How do you keep her stomach from getting upset? What should you, as an expectant Mom, eat to ensure that you stay healthy as your infant grows? What vitamins do you need if you’re breastfeeding to ensure that you’re passing along the right nutrients to your infant?

Showcasing new data and 3-D images, the site lets you explore and learn the latest research findings through video, pictures, and graphics, in depth questions like why infant eyesight depends on getting enough DHA and what key nutrients contribute to the healthy growth of your child’s brain.

This Infant Nutrition site is put together by doctors from every field, from all over. They unveiled this site on Monday with a live webcast. to see the video you can click here. From finding information about birth, nutrition, breast feeding, you can find a video and information from medical experts to answer you questions. The quality is excellent, it’s organized, and the video is amazing.

Christmas Cafe – Jump 5 all the joy in the world

Loving the Christmas Music already in my family. One, I could listen to it all year round but for some reason we turn it off in the new year. But we pull it out in October to listen to again. I figure at first sight of cooler weather it’s time to start listening. So I’m going to try and share my Christmas joy with my readers this season. I have so much Christmas music that I can share a new CD every day from now until Christmas.

Jump 5 : All the Joy in the World

At a Glance

Formed: 2001 (8 years ago)
Split: Dec 16 2007 (1 year ago)

The CD came out October 22, 2002. Since they are no longer together it is hard to find a site to link to other than Amazon with information about the band. I like to listen to Jump 5 when I’m in need of some energy. Jump 5 was very popular with the younger crowd because of the energy that the band presented in their songs. My only complaint is that it only has 8 songs. Sometimes I feel that bands are in such a rush to put out a CD that they short change their audience, but it is an excellent CD and I have a hard time picking a favorite song.

I hope that as I continue to blog about Christmas music and helping other through my charity work that you are encouraged in some way to enjoy this Holiday Season.

Homedics Restore Clean Water System Review

I love water and wish I drank it more often. That was what I was saying three weeks ago when I started going to the doctor for my pelvic prolapse. I was embarrassed by the question, how much water are you drinking and my response was not enough.

I am a water snob and if it’s not good I won’t drink it. I think it was this summer when I spent a month with my Dad in Texas where I stopped drinking water. He has lake water, Lake Texoma water and it is disgusting. My children hated it too but they know better and didn’t have the option that I had. I started drinking soda and I know that soda is awful to be drinking in place of water. For quite a few reasons.

It’s sugar and full of calories

It makes you thirstier

It rots your teeth and stains them at the same time

HoMedics contacted me and asked me to review their water system. The Homedics Restore Clean Water System.

The Restore Clean Water System uses the germ-killing benefits of UVC light; they developed Restore®, a complete water purification system in an easy to use pitcher. Restore combines UV Clean technology to remove bacteria, viruses and microbial cysts with a filtration system to reduce heavy metals, chlorine (taste and odor), and some industrial and agricultural pollutants and it terrifies me.

UV is dangerous and there are no warnings on this thing so I’m hoping that it really is safe to use. I suppose they would be required to list the warnings. I mean, the light is super bright. Wait, there was one warning about making sure that the spout is covered during purification and that the light needs to be disposed of properly because it has mercury in it.

My husband isn’t impressed, my daughter loves that the light looks purple while it is purifying and I’m just afraid of it. I know and trust that it works because our Sonicare toothbrush also uses UV technology to sanitize our brush heads everything. There is just something about drinking it.

Writing when I’m tired never works

Most of the time I do not have the time to write everything that I do write for my blog. I have to spend my days being the primary care taker for my children and I wouldn’t change that for the world. I love them, but it does make blogging difficult. Why, because at the end of the day when it is “my time” I’m exhausted. Pooped, Dead dog tired.

So, while I have reviews, thank yous for donations, and giveaways to post for my readers, I can hardly think. So then when I’m trying so hard and staring at the screen I often wonder if what I wrote made any sense at all.

I have so much that I want to write. I have so much personality I want to present to the www. It just takes so much time that I don’t have so most of my personal posts get put on hold. With the controversy out there over the term of “mommy bloggers” and “review bloggers” and “bloggers” I sometimes wonder, do I actually qualify as a “mommy blogger”. I have been nominated for the Love this site award on Divine Caroline and often find myself wondering about my worthiness for that category. Perhaps I should be in the play category but then I think about what it means to be a mom.

As a mom, I clean, I cook, I organize, I play, I teach, I talk, I share, I love, I accept, I discipline, I file, I manage; as a mom, I do everything. So writing about reviews, and products is to me part of being a mom. I am active in a local MOMS Club and as moms we see each other in cute clothes and shoes and ask where did you get that? That’s what Review Bloggers Do, it is an extension of being a mommy and sharing.

However, when I am tired I have a hard time articulating how I feel. I also take more personally than I should when I’m tired. I feel like the world is out to get me and that’s pretty arrogant for me to think that. Oh, the crazies kick in when I’m tired. I cry, I laugh, and I just want to go to bed but then I’m so tired I can’t sleep. It’s an endless cycle of un-organization and running as close to psychosis as sanely possible. Welcome to Mom Start, the tales of a mommy review blogger. We can all co-exist in this insane world.

And a Personal post is always just a day or two behind.
