Yndico Is (Collector’s Edition) is the first book written by singer, songwriter Sandra Olajide. She writes a story about a young girl that gets lost and has a hard time find home. She’s not lost in the normal way people get lost. She’s lost in the fabric of time and that makes this story a bit of a science fiction. It is an extremely unique novel and very difficult to categorize; looking like a children’s book, I forgot that it wasn’t a children’s book. When it arrived, I handed it off to my children and they opened it to find there weren’t pictures on every page. Yndico Is will be enjoyed most by tweens and older.

I enjoyed it. I liked the character Issy. I like that at the core of finding your way you find that you are you and no one can take that away from you. It reminds me of Dorthy in the Wizard of Oz and how all along she had the power to take herself home, only she had to believe she did.

The first book in a series, Yndico Is (Collector’s Edition) is part fantasy, part science fiction. It is also a story that will get you thinking and will leave you wanting that next book to be out sooner. The second book in the series is scheduled to go on sale on February 7, 2010.
