I think that the phone company should stop printing phone books. I think it’s a waste. I mean they print them every year and they are so big. All the information you need is on-line now days and you can find it from most cell phones. Maybe I’m a bit ahead of myself but at the old house we lived at we received three different phone books with yellow pages in them and we received a new one every year and maybe opened each one one time to find an obscure phone number for our phone company.
Now you can use the internet and there is a site called Local. Local is based off of Citysearch.com, yelp.com, yellowpages.com and the Superages.com. I’m a little weirded out here because I went to the site and it pulled up my local information automatically. The first time I went to the site. I’m confused.
I see local restaurants, local yellow pages, and local search options. They even have local coupons. I’m hooked, at the word coupons. It’s like a one stop place for searching without even beginning a search. On their website is says that they are “powered by the company’s patent-pending Keyword DNA™” . Which means they wrote their own algorithm and indexing system to find the best most relevant searches local to your area. These include special offers, reviews, local businesses’ website links, maps, driving directions relevant to your area.

Recently I was left go by a small independant Y.P. Co. in DFW area. Part of the reason was that 8 different businesses went out of business as the different books were printed. Obviously they did not pay their bill. I got the blame!
Phone books are like dinasours- their remains will makes good oil.
