I felt my stomach twitching and I thought I was pregnant

IMG_1052I was on some blogging trips and I was terrified that I was pregnant. I kept it to myself for a while and didn’t take any tests, I just figured my body was acting funny because of the IUD and stress of the uncertainty of our house selling. I honestly did not believe that my house was going to sell. Stress does crazy crazy things to your body. I know that.

IMG_1196 Finally, while I was on the trip with TJX I was talking with Tanya, Mommy Goggles and Alyson , 3 Ps in a Pod. I was telling them about my fear of being pregnant and the fact that my insides were moving. Yes, it was a possibility that I was pregnant. They both told me to take a pregnancy test. Cat even offered to drive me home from the airport and stop at a convince store so I could pick up a test and take it without my father knowing what I was doing.

I didn’t want anyone to know.

Finally I got over my fear and bought a test. It was….

NEGATIVE.

Thank God.!!!!

IMG_1070 If I was pregnant I was going to be that .01 percent that gets pregnant with an IUD in. That would be my luck, but it wasn’t. I’m very happy to not be pregnant, but why are my insides moving?

I got back into my normal routine, and didn’t think about it again until one day I was feeling like a tampon was stuck in-between my legs. Yes, I’m sorry if you are a man, I just said tampon. Grow up or leave because it gets worse. I looked down and could see something fleshy. I wanted to just pull it out, but at the same time I was terrified. What is going on with my body. Why does my back hurt like crazy.

IMG_1726 So, while my kids were running circles around me and under my legs, I tried to call the doctor to tell them something was falling out of me. They asked me a few questions and said that my doctor was all booked up. I was asking them what they thought I should do because this is serious. I’m falling apart and I want some help.

Three days later they were able to get me in and they said I have a cervical prolapse. So I didn’t find out what exactly that meant until I saw my doctor. She said that my insides are falling in on themselves and that it is common after pregnancy. Well, why don’t I know anyone that has this problem. I mean basically my cervix is falling out, my bladder is moving down and my rectum is moving up. It’s only a problem she said if I start having trouble going to the bathroom, but she was too busy and overbooked to answer any of my questions. All she told me was that I need to see a specialist and do physical therapy or have surgery. But if I have surgery I shouldn’t have any more children. This is the same doctor I begged and pleaded with to give me a hysterectomy. I wanted that so bad but she said I was too young and might want more children. I DON”T.

I have endometriosis, I have pain, I have two beautiful children and if something ever happened to them I could not replace them with another child. I’m done. I want a hysterectomy, I want my cervix to stop falling out and I want the back pain to go away. I can’t sleep at night because I’m in so much pain. Please!! make the pain go away.

Mostly, I wanted to write this post to.

1) Thank my new blogging friends for all of the love and support.

2) Write about my health issues because and share it with the world. I tried to read about it on-line and found that “only old people” have that problem. I’ll let you know that I am only 29 years old and have these health problems.

3) To vent, my doctor was not sympathetic at all. All she did the whole appointment was complain that they should not have squeezed me in because it was not serious and she didn’t have time to see me. I’m sorry, but if a woman thinks her insides are falling out, she’s going to think it’s an emergency. I could see my body parts hanging out. To me it was serious and I needed someone to help me calm down. I’m not a medical professional I do not know what is ok and what is not. Next time I’m just going to the emergency room.

I had this same problem after the birth of my second child (both were big babies!). The first doc (not my gyn) totally freaked me out and told me I’d probably need a hysterectomy. But by my 6 week check up my obgyn said it was completely normal and his recommendation was KEEGAL KEEGAL KEEGAL…which worked! So-hopefully that helps(:

  2. Cat says:

Louise I can’t imagine how scary that must have been for you. I sure as heck would have been feeling like it was an emergency.

  3. Tiffany says:

Sounds so scary. I’m sorry your doctor was not sympathetic but I think it’s so awesome your Momdot girls were there for you. Have you scheduled your surgery? You will be in my thoughts and prayers. Hang in there.

  4. Amanda says:

I’m sorry your doctor was unsympathetic. I would’ve thought that was an emergency too. I think most women would. Good luck with your surgery!

  5. annie2 says:

First, fire your doctor! did you interupt her time? hello! her time is supposed to be for you! Nexn, Find a great surgeon. A nice sympathic one. Then, after your surgery get grandma (or whatever relative lives. close) to stay with you and watch the children and pamper you!
and whew for you that you were negative!

  6. A.Marie says:

Hello there! Thanks for visiting my blog!!

First of all, you need to find yourself a new doctor. She might have the “booksmarts” to be allowed to have a MD after her name, but she has a very crappy “bedside” manner. Trust me…I have run across docs like her before, and she needs to just go!

Your condition sounds serious and I hope that you find a wonderful, caring, sympathetic surgeon that will be able to help you. You are a young mother, and you need all of your strength to take care of those precious babies of yours! :)

I’ll be back to check on you later! :)

  7. Oh, Louise! I have chills and tears!! I am here for you ANY time you need a friend, shoulder to lean on or just an ear to vent to. I will be thinking and praying for you ((hugs))

  8. Andrea H says:

I am so sorry your doctor was such a jerk! I would definitely switch to a different GYN. I hope all goes well with your surgery, I will be praying for you.

    ((hugs))

  9. Heather says:

that must have been so scary for you! I’d have been at my dr. as well…what are they for if you can’t see them when you’re having problems wiht your anatomy?? I’m glad you know what it is and how to get better though. I know I always feel better about things when I have a bit of a plan. (((HUGS)))

  10. Gena Morris says:

Oh no! I would be changing GYN quickly! I learned that if you aren’t getting the care YOU deserve, then it’s time to move on. You are nearly 30 plus have issues so that should warrant a hysterectomy. Good luck to you!

  11. Elizabeth says:

I’m so glad you’re going to feel better soon! I hate that your doctor was such a jerk, though. It took me a while to realize that you can break up with your doctor’s office if they don’t make you feel comfortable. They aren’t God after all.

  12. Melanie B says:

time to give the Dr’s office some feedback and move on. That’s ridiculous. I’ve heard of a cervical prolapse but, I wouldn’t have known what it was either until it was confirmed. Sorry about that terrible experience

  13. Lauralee Hensley says:

You’re not the only person, my younger sister had the same thing after she had two children within 2 years. They did surgery on her, they hosted up the bladder by attaching it better to the surrounding muscles that are suppose to keep it in place and they gave her the hysterectomy that she wanted. At that time she was actually younger than you are now. After they did the hysterectomy for the prolapse, the Dr. said he was glad he did because he found the uterus had precancerous changes in it. So it was actually a blessing that the prolapse happened because everything was removed before dangerous cancer could have set in.
You are right though, it does tend to happen more in older women, or very overweight women more often. It can happen to anyone though.
Hang in there, if your insurance let’s you get second or third opinions from an surgeon do. If you want a hysterectomy you have good cause endometriosis in and of it’s self is one because of the constant pain, and a prolapse uterus will eventually lead to problems urinating too.
    God Bless.

  14. Idaho Jill says:

wow, I am so sorry you are going through all that! I would have done the same thing – I think anyone would. For your dr. to make you feel like you were wasting her time is just crap – I would have gone somewhere else in a jiffy. Hopefully you find someone that cares about you instead of complains!

  15. Emily B. says:

Oh hon! How scary. I hope you can get a better health care provider… and maybe the Kegels will help like someone else suggested? Good luck!!!

  16. Julie says:

I too had the same thing happen to me only a few things were differant. I’m now 49 yrs old but 7 yrs ago I had a hysterectomy because of this same thing. My only daughter is 28yrs old and I had a miscarriage 8 years after she was born at 4 1/2 months along. So this issue for me came about years later after she was born and the miscarrage. Actually about 9 years ago my cycles started slacking off to no out put at all but spotting which done so for alnost the 2 years before the hysterectomy. My back hurt that whole time, I felt like I was constantly needing to go urinate, and relattions with my husband were painful, because I too noticed the same issue of something being where it ought not. So finally I see the Gynecologist and she said I had a fallen uterus which was caused by deliverying a big baby years before and it was causing my pain because it had pushed my cervix out and the weight of the uterus on my bladder was causing pain & constant urination. So she said a hysterectomy was needed. And its the best thing I ever done! I did keep my ovaries so I do not have to be on steriods but no back pain, relations with my husband are normal. If you are done having children, I would keep going to and find a doctor who will hear your voice and give you a hysterectomy so your pain is gone. Because it will just continue to protrude more & all the pain that goes with it as well. Best of luck what ever you do. love your blog! julie

Oh my sweetie! I have heard about this but never knew anyone to actually go through it either. I would definitely see a doctor that has more time and compassion for you. I’ll be praying for you for the best outcome! (((hugs)))

  19. Stefanie says:

OMG that is so scary! I can’t believe your dr was so rude about the whole thing. I would get a new dr asap. Good luck to ya and I hope you start feeling better soon. Tanya rocks doesn’t she? I don’t know Alyson very well but it sounds like they were your rock during your trip. Kudos to them! Get well soon!

  20. Lorri S says:

My neighbor had this happen a few years ago and she had the surgery and hasn’t had any problems since. (She is in her 50′s) I imagine it’s quite uncomfortable and add in the endo, makes it all the worse.

I’ve had doctors tell me they wouldn’t do a hysterectomy because I was too young also. I think a woman knows if she wants to have kids or not and have the choice to have it done so she doesn’t have to live in pain everyday.

  21. Trish says:

Umm yeah, I agree with everyone else that you need to find a new doctor! I recently was having severe, severe pain to where I couldn’t even stand up, it hurt so bad. After dealing with it a few days I called my midwives, and they got me in that day. It was either a cyst, or just painful ovulation. Nothing serious, but they didn’t make me feel like an idiot for going in. In fact, she even stayed later than normal to talk with me and to squeeze me for the day.

And now you have me wondering because I feel some twitching around my ovaries and such and keep thinking I’m pregnant (we’re trying) but every month it comes back negative. I think I might need to go in again to find out what is going on.

  22. Terra Heck says:

Thanks for posting. It is something that needs addressed. I had never heard of it before now and I would have thought it was an emergency too if I would have been in your situation.

  23. Alyson says:

Oh sweetie…YAY for YOU!!! So sorry for the real pain and anxiety but in the long run, you will feel SO much better!!! Talk to me ANYTIME!!! Keep me posted on the dates!

    HUG!

  24. Amy says:

How scary! But seriously PLEASE get a doctor who has at least nursing staff that can take care of your concerns! There is nothing worse than an overbooked uncaring OBGYN office who doesn’t listen to your cares or concerns! I have endometriosis too (no kids though) and my doc before my current doc was one of THOSE doctors who just didn’t care and man things are so much easier with a GOOD, caring doctor! I hope you feel better soon!

  25. What a sucky doctor!

I hope everything goes well and you can feel better soon.

  26. Maria says:

Jees, that Dr should be out of practice. As in license taken away. Really, what kind of med prof doesn’t realize that a woman in this situation is an urgency?

I’m sorry this all happened to you, but I’m glad you’ll be moving towards a positive resolution. I’ll keep you in my prayers for a speedy recovering following your surgery!

  27. Oh my goodness Louise!! I’m so sorry that you have to deal with this. What they told you about it “Not being serious” is TOTAL BS. Hello?!? Your insides are collapsing and you can’t sleep from pain! THAT IS SERIOUS. Get a new doctor, stat! Anyone who poo-poos that should not be treating you. You need help and you need relief from your pain. I would definitely get a second, third opinion and find someone who will at least figure out a gameplan for managing your pain while they schedule whatever procedures you choose to have for it. GRRR, I am seriously so mad on your behalf. What your doctor did is inexcusable. If my insides were falling out, I’d go to the emergency room! If that’s not a big deal to her, what the heck is?!? GRRRRRRR. Feel better soon, Louise!!

  28. Woo! I had my IUD contract out of me. Honest, it was terrifying. I wasn’t scared of the pain (not much) that came with it, it was the chance that I might be pregnant since it moved out of place lol. SO glad I had a hysterectomy. I still feel the need to call my doc and ask if she’s absolutely SURE I can’t get pregnant again.

  29. Oh my goodness!!! That is sooooo brutal… ummm… yeah, I’d say that’s serious. Are you kidding me??? I can’t believe your doctor was like that. Definitely find a new doctor.

I’m so sorry you’re having to go through all of this. I pray your surgery goes well and that you feel better soon.

  30. Wow! I can’t believe it took them 3 days to get you in and she didn’t even act like it was serious. That’s nuts! I’m so sorry you’re dealing with cruddy doctors and uncomfortable pains.

I have endometriosis too and in some ways the hysterectomy I had earlier this year has been so worth it. I cramp still because of where my endo is at that they weren’t able to remove at the time of surgery and I have 1 ovary left but I don’t cramp the way I used to at all and I can get on with my life now which is awesome.

Whatever surgery you choose and talk the doctor into, just know I’m thinking about you and praying everything goes perfectly. If you opt for the hysterectomy and have questions I’m always here to talk to. I know that even when it’s wanted it can still be scary and overwhelming when it comes time.

  31. Hailey says:

    So scary!
And to make you wait? Have you thought about trying to find a new doctor? My doctors would have never.

Can I talk to you about my IUD? I have the Mirena.
I got my IUD 11 months ago. I hate it. My periods are suppose to be light or nonexistant. However, my periods last 9 days. My PMS symptoms are terrible. It totally freaks me out not knowing if the thing is working much less if it is going to fall out of me. WHEW! Thanks for letting me get that off of my chest.

Good luck! Keep us updated. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

  34. Elina says:

This is the first time I’ve heard of this. Thanks for sharing. I’ve had my hysterectomy done 4 years ago and like you, I had to literally beg my gynae to do it.

I hope you’re in better hands now because the doc you consulted earlier sounds like she sucks BIG TIME. Best of luck on your operation next month and I hope you will have a speedy recovery too. *Hugs* Things will get better, have faith.
