My youngest sister Lauren Tess Manning who goes by Tess in the family goes by LTM on the internet. She is going into college this year and is going to be majoring in writing. She’s very excited and I wanted to give her a venue to start her writing so, she’s going to be combining her other passion movies and writing a weekly post. Movie reviews.
Although most of you have already most likely seen The Proposal, if you haven’t you NEED to ASAP! This movie stars Sandra Bullock (Two Weeks Notice, Miss Congeniality) as the head of a publishing company. When she finds she is going to be deported back to Canada she cooks up a plan with her male assistant Ryan Reynolds (The Amityville Horror 2005*, Just Friends) to get married to get out of being sent back to Canada. This movie is definitely something a couple would enjoy it’s DEFINITELY a chick flick but it’s funny and has a great moral of doing wrong VS right and the whole thing is filled with hilarious lines and acting the whole movie is AMAZING and I think you will think so to this is also a good girls night out movie. I like it hopefully you will too!
Depending on how old your children are and what your opinions are this may not be good for everyone; however this movie is truly CUTE! Starring Robin Williams (Wild Hogs, Jumanji) as a dad who sees his family not spending enough time together, and JoJo (Music Artist) the daughter in her teen years, the dad decides to move into an RV. As the family objects he over rules and so their adventure begins. Filled with funny acting and lines this whole movie is great and it has a good moral too it! I enjoyed it!
My pick is going to be The Painted Veil for see this movie truly made an impact on me. Starring Naomi Watts (King Kong, The Ring) and Edward Norton (The Illusionist, Fight Club) this movie is set in a cholera epidemic. When Kitty’s husband finds out she has been unfaithful he decides to take a stand and follow his dreams to work as a doctor. He tells Kitty that she is to come with him or get a divorce. While this movie is a bit depressing it truly is an eye opener to how fortunate some of us truly are and as a music lover as well as a movie lover the music and score made this movie one for the books.

I have no idea how to choose a car except by test driving them and when you look young like my husband and I do they don’t think you can afford one in the first place. So what are the ways you can search out a car on-line?
The Car Connection seems to have some options for finding out information about vehicles. Take for instance the toyota sienna. This is one of the vans that my husband and I are considering as the next family vehicles we purchase. Toyota’s have great re-sale value.
I will not consider the dodge journey because we currently have a dodge caravan and I hate it. I absolutely hate it. but since I’m looking at cars at the moment I thought I might check out the Pontiac g8 and Hyundai. People are saying that the Hyundai is improving. It looks like the information on the car connection is unbiased and factual. Each person that goes and places their opinion they aren’t paid opinions so it’s nice to see what other people think about each vehicle.

Make Lunch Time Fun Time: Back to School Tips from Sara Lee Deli ~ with my added commentary
Shape Up ~ (or ship out)

Make a sandwich exciting by using cookie cutters to create different shapes. Use their favorite hobby or pastime as a guideline: for sports fans, make a football; for dog lovers, try a dog bone shape.
~
Just by changing the shape of their lunch you’re going to keep them interested in the healthy lunch you made for them. I hear kids still like to trade lunches in school, keep their mind on their food so you know what they are eating. In my house at dinner time we have the deal, eat what I cook or you don’t eat at all. Very strict I know but then I know they are going to eat the veggies eventually. Harder at school I know but there are lots of ways to keep veggies in them too.
Stock Up on Favorites ~ mine is Hillshire farms
Keep your family happy by having different deli meats on hand. Your kids will all be able to choose their favorite while getting the protein they need. Sara Lee® Fresh Ideas™ pre-sliced deli meats come in 14 different varieties in a convenient, pre-packaged container.
~
We like to eat Hillshire Farms which I learned is also owned by Sara Lee.
Keep it Cool
If you need to keep your lunch cool, try freezing juice boxes or reusable bottled waters instead of adding bulky ice packs. The boxes or bottles will thaw to provide a refreshing beverage and keep the sandwich fresh.
~
I don’t recommend using bottled water. When you freeze bottled water it gets some of those nasty chemicals in it that we don’t want our kids drinking so use the juice box. Or in my house I would stick the entire lunch box in the freezer and it will be just right at lunch time
Get the Kids Involved
Instead of making lunch ahead of time, pack deli meats along with some cheese and crackers. Kids are more likely to eat what they help prepare, and they’ll have a great time stacking the ingredients to their liking during lunch time.
~
Everyone says to get the kids involved. It’s a great idea, one it takes up some time at night when kids are usually grumpy. It also gets them to try more food. Let them help you buy the food too. Give them the healthy options you want them to choose from and it’s ok to give them a cookie every now and then. Moderation is key to all food groups and a healthy diet. When you deprive yourself from something it makes you want it more. So when you are on vacation you will be more likely to over indulge. It’s the same for children. If you keep them away from cookies they’ll just hide the fact that they are eating them.
Here’s a great recipe to jazz up the everyday ham and cheese sandwich into a sushi inspired meal:

Sara Lee Deli Kid Sushi
Ingredients
2 slices Sara Lee® Fresh Ideas pre-sliced Honey Ham
2 strips Sara Lee® Swiss Cheese, thinly sliced, cut 2” x ¼”
2 slices Sara Lee® Soft and Smooth™ Made with Whole Grain White Bread
1 teaspoon ranch dressing
1 tablespoon thinly shredded carrots
2 sweet baby pickles
Method
Place two slices of white bread with the crusts cut off on a flat surface side-by-side. Using a rolling pin, or glass, gently flatten and fuse the bread slices together. Spread the ranch dressing over the inside middle of the flat bread slices. Place two slices of the ham on top of the ranch dressing. Place the shredded carrots and Swiss cheese on top of the ham. Place the two pickles horizontally and end-to-end at the bread edge closest to you. Starting at the bottom, roll the bread upwards to make a tight cigar-shaped roll. Using a bread knife, cut the roll into sushi-sized pieces approx one inch in length.
Option: Serve on a bed of mixed field greens with chop sticks and extra ranch dressing for dipping.
My Daughter loves watching this Sesame Street video and she loves to wear shoes. At two years old and she’s already in love with shoes. Shoes Shoes Shoes Shoes, everybody’s gotta have shoes. What kind of shoes do you wear? I wear them all and do use Zappos from time to time.
So Zappos has some great sandals to choose from. They sell quite a few different styles and they have my favorite sandals. I’ve written about both before. You know I love them. I love Keen Sandals and I love them a lot. I wear Keen shoes all the time and I can find them at Zappos. I wish they had up to size seven in my size so I can buy the kids ones. So here’s a tip from me for those of you wanting to save money on buying shoes. If you can find shoes in kids sizes here is the conversion rate:
Size 7 kids is Size 8.5 woman
Size 6 kids is Size 7.5 woman
Size 5 kids is Size 6.5 woman
Size 4 kids is Size 5.5 woman
This is a very rough conversion rate but that’s what it is. So if you are looking at shoes on line those of you that have smaller feel look at the kids choices. You might find something really nice at half the price of an adult’s shoe.

Last week I participated with Office Max, Peter Walsh and 200 other bloggers with a back to school learning session. We, the bloggers were able to ask Peter Walsh questions about organizing our children and preparing for a great school year.
Kids need to be taught how to organize and stay organized. We need to sit down with them and help them learn how to file all of their papers they get from school. Most art projects do not need to be kept in the back pack for the entire semester and tons of papers don’t need to be kept at all.
Help your child find out how their teacher wants the folder organized and also teach them how to use all the pockets of the back pack. When purchasing a back pack find one with more than just a center pocket. Many backpacks now days come with at least three sections. The large section is for books, the next section can be used for folders and papers and the final section can be used for a lunch bag.
If you are a family that considers getting a gift for the teacher, then don’t get an apple or a nick nack. Teachers want school supplies, so get them some school supplies. A lot of stores right now are selling paper and other supplies for pennies when they are usually 79 cents each. So check all of your local ads now and find the best prices to get that shopping done.
Also, the collections of school supplies are more than just the plane ones I grew up with. You can find quite the styles even at Office Max. They sent me some to check out and I gave the composition notebooks to my sister and I gave the adorable folders to my cousins that can’t afford cute school supplies.
If my children were going to school or needed school supplies I would have given them to my own children but I know they are going to people who can use them. I have one folder that I received from Peter Walsh and Office Max last year and I keep all of my blogging supplies in there. I go through it once or twice a month and practically empty it out. Everything I have to have I have an electronic copy and my e-mail is backed up on some server in Arizona, or at least that’s what my husband kids me about. So, if you have watched Peter Walsh on Oprah, or TLC then you have learned that his motto seems to be less is more. Get rid of the clutter and remember that at least 80 % of papers you are never going to need to look at again.

Have I told you lately this is my favorite store?
My husband and I both love this store. It’s a great place to get kids clothing for really cheap. You just have to be smart and watch the sales. I love the Children’s Place
