Mom Start’s for Melissa Joan Heart, Cindy Crawford

mybestbirth This new site is MyBestBirth and they have the birth stories from the stars. It is on a social network created on Ning.

This is what I want to do with regular people. If you contact me I’ll share your birth story. If you want to do a vlog, sure I’ll interview you. or we can just let you write a post like other moms have.

http://www.wikifido.com/page/Celebrities+and+Their+DogsMelissa Joan Heart’s story was similar to mine. My son was not ready to come out so there were a lot of complications with the induction. However; with mine, he was so big if we had waited I would have had to have surgery.

Hain Celestial Group’s Take a Healthy Bite out of Reading #giveaway

take a bite  The Hain Celestial Group is offering a giveaway filled with healthy snacks and free coupons to help spread the word about the “Take a Healthy Bite out of Reading” back to school promotion. Hain Celestial has teamed up with Barnes & Noble again (they do this often on their Earth’s Best Baby campaigns) to help inspire reading through healthy eating. I love to write about companies supporting reading. I’ve been spending the summer with different companies like the Hain Celestial group that support reading.

haincelestialReading is important to instill in your children at an early age. The “Take a Healthy Bite” promotion is a receipt redemption program, where you can send your receipts for any products from Garden of Eatin’, MaraNatha, West Soy, Earth’s Best and Health Valley in exchange for gift cards from Barnes & Noble – $5.00 card for $15 worth of product and $10 for $25 worth of product. There is also a sweepstakes element and one lucky parent will win $500 worth of free books from Barnes & Noble for their local school library.

It pays to save receipts and bar codes/upc’s for things like this that come up. I’m always saving diaper packages in hopes of finding rebates for diapers.

This giveaway will include an assortment of natural and organic products from Hain Celestial Group, including Garden of Eatin’ blue corn chips, Health Valley granola bars, Earth’s Best Tots juice boxes and coupons for free jar of MaraNatha nut butter, free 32 ounce West Soymilk and free Earth’s Best Sesame Street frozen pizza. (Total Value $25)

Visit www.takeahealthybite.com for healthy snack tips and kid friendly recipes from Keri Glassman, R.D. and sign up for the “Healthy Way of Life” newsletter to receive valuable coupons. The Sweepstakes from Take a Healthy Bite out of Reading can be found at:

SS – B2S – Free Glasses, Clothing,

My Sunday spam this week is dedicated to Back to School. My kids aren’t in school yet and was thinking about taking my daughter to a toddler group but it is full already. I also found out that I need to start looking into pre-schools for next year. Crazy.

Companies Companies Companies!

I have such a hard time narrowing down where you might want to go to do your shopping this year. Just to list some companies that have winded and dined me:

Sears Optical Free glasses

· 80 percent of what all children learn comes through their sight

What to do with your hair for back to school?

It may be your favorite time of year, but when it comes to humidity, sun and “hot” summer hairstyles, you’re left with a dry frizzy mane and an endless list of summer hair questions. NYC Colorist, Joseph Mullen at Blackstones Salon gives some advice, and answers the most pressing questions of the season.

Q.    How should I protect my hair color this summer to make it last longer?

A.    Preserving your hair color during the summer is easy, with the added help of some conditioning products. Joseph Mullen, Lead Colorist at Blackstones Salon in New York, recommends trying a product with UV protection or a leave in conditioner like Bumble and bumble Leave-in. Apply product as directed and make sure to comb through to ensure uniform coverage. To help minimize fading, Mullen recommends a conditioner with a color enhancement.
However, he cautions that you should ask your colorist for the most appropriate color conditioner for your hair so that you maintain the right tones.

Q.    What hair color is best for the hot, sunny summer season?

A.    “Imagine the natural color highlights that the sun creates in a child’s hair,” says Joseph Mullen, “This is the ideal hair color for the summertime, especially because a return to blonde during the summer seasons is always popular,” he adds. “The hardest colors to maintain during the summer are reds and dark or ash browns because they fade more quickly in the sun.” Joseph also points out that the best way to achieve the natural highlight look is to have highlights painted on. This allows for the roots to grow out organically and with a more natural look. It will also allow for longer time in between visits.

Q.      How can I prevent my hair from becoming faded and dry during the summer?

A.      “The best way to avoid faded, dry hair is to stop it before it starts,” advises Mullen. "Of course the best way to avoid sun damage is to cover up, but when this is unavoidable if you know you are going to be out in the sun, use a leave in conditioner or UV protectant product. If the color does fade, have your colorist recommend a color enhancing shampoo or conditioner that matches the hair color you want to keep. Then, use the product once a week or as directed by the manufacturer. This will help control any fading and prevent the dry, flat look that the sun can give the hair.”

Q.      How can I reduce frizziness and dryness in the summer?

A.    “One option is to consider a treatment like Brazilian Hair Straightening,” explains Joseph. “This treatment will provide smooth relaxed waves without the frizz and with at least half the blow drying time.” Joseph also adds is that it transforms the hair without chemically altering the hair strands, but by sealing the hair in keratin. Keratin is the primary protein of the skin, hair and nails. The use of a keratin-based product adds moisture and strength to hair damaged by blow drying, coloring, and traditional relaxers. It is semi-permanent, chemical free and lasts 3 to 5 months.

Pen Again sent me a four pack of ergonomic pencils to try called Twist’n Write. They are number 2 pencils in fun glitter colors. The led twistnwrite_largecomes out at the top by twisting the cap. Grandma opened these while I was away on one of my trips and was teaching my 2 year old how to use them. I was watching my daughter when I came back and she was trying to use them. She didn’t quite use them correctly but because they have such a wide handle they were very easy for her to hold and use.

I like them because I have quite a bit of arthritis in my right hand and using them correctly causes no pain. I just now noticed that the sides act as erasers. Wow, that’s pretty cool.

About Pen again:

PenAgain specializes in ergonomic pens and pencils.  The most recent addition to their line of writing utensils is the Twist ‘n Write pencils.  Right in time for back-to-school, these pencils will make writing for any length of time less tiring for students of all ages.

Where do you get your ink cartridges?

Canon U.S.A. :: Home Page I was wondering where people get their printer cartridges and if they spend money on the name brand. Some people believe that only name brand inks keep your machine going for it’s full life. I think that’s what I feel is the best thing to do for the printer. I defiantly don’t think you should purchase refillable ink cartridges.

We have a Cannon Printer and we always buy the ink that Cannon makes. There are plenty of places to buy it, but I found this site that sells cheap printer cartridges. At Buy The Best Buy,  I found best buys on printer cartridges. You can select from every major brand of printers out there. Then after selecting the brand you select the type, inkjet, fax. Finally you select the model and it takes you to the options for the printer cartridge that you want to purchase. Their high quality ink is up to 80% less expensive than what printer manufacturers charge. Or so their website says. I mean, I’m looking at it and at only 5.00 a cartridge for my photo ink sounds like a good price.

I’m just not sure if it’s for me? What do you guys think? Is this a good place to go for printer cartridge shopping? Let me know!
