Sears/K-Mart has a Campus Ready Sale going on now

Sears Colormate Bath Towels $4 EachI’m experiencing difficulties with my house right now and I had to go out and get some new towels. My husband and I love really soft towels and when I was at the Design Summit last month visiting Sears and K-mart. I found out that they have very soft towels. In fact, they way they are made they get softer with every wash. Now, I asked if they actually did wash testing and they did.

They said that you need to pre-wash them before using them. The reason is that they will peel. Towels, blankets, and other items like these peel. So washing them is going to limit the lent you get on your body. I forgot and was a little red after using my brand new towels the first time. I washed the rest of them. Only time will tell if they keep their softness but at the price I purchased them at, I’m not sure if I care how long their softness lasts. I purchased six towels for less than 35.00.

Since they are on sale they were only 4.99 each and that was the top of the line. The rest were 2.99 or 3.99. They also had Ty Pennington’s line on sale. He is exclusive to Sears.

Celebrate Truffles Almonds Tasty #giveaway

Celebrate Chocolate makes great chocolate that helps reduce your appetite. This includes their

Celebrate Chocolate Cocoa Covered Almonds

My Opinion:

They sent me a bag that I have not received yet. It’s not their fault, I’m having issues with my mail right now. Some is in Texas, some is on the way to Texas and some is on the way to WA and some is sitting in a mail box waiting for me to retrieve it. So, I have eaten the Almond truffles before and I really enjoyed them. I expected them to be very dark and bitter by the looks of them. They are unexpectedly sweet and the almonds are a perfect combination. I wish I had some of them now because the m&m’s I’m eating are just not satisfying and the calories I’m in taking are frightening.

MSN Homeroom and Kellogg’s Frosted Mini Wheats

Unrelated to this post but really cool information I just learned on my recent venture to California. Renee from Cutie Booty Cakes is on the MSN Homeroom panel of moms, well I don’t see her on the list of moms right now, but she did work on the project at some point. I know this because she spoke to me about the program. That’s my little tidbit I just learned but here is what I’m supposed to tell you about from Kellogg’s and MSN.

“Education comes to mind as one of the most important yet daunting aspects of raising children. Navigating through a school system and helping a child succeed present tough issues and situations in which we all seek advice and opinions. And, as Moms and Mom Bloggers, we often rely on our amazing communities and network of friends online and off for household questions and parenting tips.”

msnhomeroom I do find that I have so many questions when it comes to what and how to do best by my two children. I’m sure that there are a lot of people out there that look at my blog and think that I must ignore my children but it’s not true. They come first in everything that I do. We are on a trip right now and making sure they are happy/comfortable without giving them everything they want has been key. I often look to other moms for ideas and questions.

wheatie Kellogg’s Frosted Mini-Wheats sponsored the development of the MSN Mom’s Homeroom site where Moms can connect online to find ideas and articles on topics such as reading, attentiveness, learning, and memory. Memory is key with Kellogg’s Mini-Wheats, you’ve seen the commercial right? I love the little wheatie. The site features four Moms from diverse backgrounds: a teacher, a psychiatrist, a former marketing coordinator, and an obstetrician/gynecologist. The Moms participate in online discussions and post unscripted videos of their views on helping kids succeed academically. The site includes great resources such as:

Scholastic and Encarta articles, tools, and activities

Tips on reading comprehension

Ways to work with your child’s sports coach

Articles on the meaning and importance of community service

Memory tricks to help kids in school

These moms are going to be the experts we can go to to learn find information we need for school advice and many other topics related to helping your children in school. There is an article there about how well can you spell. It’s actually a quiz. I can’t spell at all. I mean, I rely on my spell checker a great deal. Looking at the spelling quiz just made me realize just how bad I am.

Traveling on our first family vacation and I’m exhausted.

This is our first family vacation and I’m pooped. I was invited to visit the EA studios near San Francisco and Maxis studios for the release of Spore Hero on the Wii. The invitation included one child and I asked if my husband could tag along and have one lap child. They deliberated and said yes. So it was a family vacation for us. One final summer hurrah and what a crazy adventure it was.

I had just gotten back from Texas so I felt that if I could travel alone with two children certainly it would be easier to travel with an extra adult right?

HMMMM?

It wasn’t that bad, but after spending a month with Grandma and Grandpa my kids were spoiled rotten. So anytime they didn’t get exactly what they wanted at exactly the right time they would scream or attempt at a tantrum. I was grateful though that they still see daddy as authority; mine has diminished but I plan to spend the next month getting it back.

We were all a bit grumpy the hotel wasn’t very nice, the ac did not work and the bed was uncomfortable. I can’t sleep when I’m hot so I was grumpy, my husband was in a better mood than I was and my kids were, well they were one and two. I can’t expect too much. I have good kids I really do but they were hard to deal with. I mean, my arms were tired of carrying them but they have little feet and walking around San Fran was hard for them so my husband and I did a lot of carrying.

Spore Hero: Play Meejee's Target Practice Game! The good thing was seeing my sister in law and going to the Maxis Studio and the EA studio. Both companies were wonderful and shared lots of goodies with us. I plan on sharing some of those with you guys over the coming month. Look out for a Sims 3 giveaway, Spore giveaway, and Harry Potter DS giveaway. We also had fun shopping in their company store. My husband was in awe because their prices were cheaper than the Microsoft company store.

Suggestions to other parents traveling with two:

1. Don’t leave without a stroller for both children, umbrella or car seat/stroller combo

2. Wear your seat belts while riding in shuttles, I almost flew out of my seat but thanks to my seatbelt I didn’t slam into the door.

3. Have one parent for every child under the age of three.

4. Take toys to every location you go.

5. Take a spare set of clothing for each child.

6. Be prepared for diaper blowouts.

7. Have spare snacks

8. Blow up beds for kids or a pack’n’play for baby

9. Be prepared for heat/cold or rain

10. Have chocolate for all occasions. It’s great to give to disgruntled plane occupants, high stressed mothers and last resorts for children.

11. Remember to breathe and de-stress.

Oscar Mayer Lunchables have changed

Who would believe that Oscar Mayer Lunchables could ever be considered healthy. I always liked eating them but  never really considered it a good lunch choice. I’ve also been sort a really picky when I select one.  I like ham, and I like cheddar not American when it comes to cheese options.

lunchables

That’s putting it mildly. There are more options when it comes to choosing now and they happen to be better for you.

The six new varieties include: Turkey + Cheddar Sub Sandwichtcs

Ham + American Sub Sandwich,

Turkey + Cheddar Cracker Combos,

tc

Ham +American Cracker Combos,

Deep Dish Cheese Pizza and Deep Dish Pepperoni Pizza.

cheese pizza
