Nickelodeon’s Kai-Lan’s Great Trip To China DVD #giveaway

First, I’m going to start by saying. I have three of these to giveaway so Enter Enter Enter.

Now, I don’t know if you remember me reviewing Dora the Explorer or not, but I wasn’t a big fan. I found her to be a little annoying in voice and song, but it hit home with the target audience. (I’m actually wondering if there is TV that my daughter doesn’t like).

Now, Kai Lan, I like. I like her a lot more than Dora. I actually find myself watching the DVD with my daughter even though we’ve watched it quite a few times. During my son’s naptime is usually blogging time for me and DVD time for my daughter. He takes one to three naps a day so we watch a lot sometimes and nothing other days.

Ni Hao Kai-Lan: Kai-Lan’s Great Trip to China retails at Amazon for 10.99. As I said above I found it enjoyable and my children were learning from it. I was learning from it. She speaks Chinese and translates. It’s not every word but just like any educational children’s program. It’s almost like Dora meets Anime.

Finally my daughter is asking for something other than My Friends Tigger and Pooh. PBS Kids, sent us a preview copy of Dinosaur Train. We have been watching it at least once every day since we got it.

Dinosaur train is a new CGI animated series by Jim Henson’s. It is 15 minutes long with cute musical songs to teach children about dinosaurs. Buddy doesn’t belong in the family of Ptederons but they accept him and make him part of the family. He happens to be a T-Rex. His Siblings are Tiny, Shiny, and Don. They all ride the Dinosaur Train, to learn new things. Each episode is summarized at the end by Scott D. Sampson, PH.D. – Paleontologist. This preview disk had two different episodes. One was about Herbivores and the other was about working together. You can watch both episodes yourself on-line.

I’m really picky when it comes to purses. I love color and pizzazz. It needs to have shape, function and style. I like to stop people with my purse it says a lot. If I can’t find the perfect purse I don’t carry a purse. In fact, you hardly ever see me with one anymore. This is partially due to having to carry a diaper bag and if I’m out for a blogging trip I need to carry my laptop. So what’s a mom to do. This is what a mom needs to do. Bake Me a Wish Chocolate Cake #giveaway

Bake me a wish sent me a full size cake and I didn’t get a single bite of it. We were invited to a Fourth of July party and I knew it would make a perfect treat to beat the heat and after some wonderful hamburgers. However, I had to take my kids home before the chocolate cake was cut into. My kids have an early bed time and they get GRUMPY if they are not in bed on time. Can’t really complain about having kids that WANT to go to bed if you know what I mean. So a friend of mine that ate some of the cake took a picture and wrote up what she thought about it.

So here are my 2 cents:

I’m not chief and I am sure there are better people to review this cake. However, most of us aren’t chiefs or we’d be making our own cakes. But when you have to go somewhere or throw your own party sometimes baking your own cake is the LAST thing on your mind … especially as a mom! The cake was surprisingly moist for a brownie-like cake; I find brownie from scratch, from a box, ones ordered or catered in are regularly dry. The frosting was very creamy and the edge had chocolate shavings. I love chocolate but I believe sometimes there can be too much. This cake wasn’t like that at all. A modest serving wasn’t too much — not too chocolaty (although it’s all chocolate), and not too sweet.

Children here in Washington haven’t been out of school that long and it’s already time to think of back to school in retail.
