Lands End launches “The Island” with a discount

The Island

Wouldn’t it be lovely to be at the beach? How about at the beach on an island getaway for free?

With summer right around the corner, one can’t help but fantasize about a tropical getaway. In celebration of the season, Lands’ End has just launched “The Island” at www.landsend.com/getaway, where one can enjoy a virtual island getaway. Amidst the backdrop of a private island paradise, you and your community can shop for Lands’ End swimsuit styles, enter an exciting sweepstakes and share the experience with friends through popular social media channels.

So for more than swimsuits though; Lands End carries lawn chairs, high-performance Aquaterra Separates, Beach Living Separates and Resort collections, pick nick bags (which I’ll be giving one away soon) and much more to celebrate the summer in style. But why stop there.

Since a real island is definitely better than a virtual island, Lands’ End has launched a sweepstakes offering a trip for four to Barbados. Visitors can enter daily for a chance to win at www.landsend.com/getaway  ending midnight (CST) on May 31, 2009.  The prize package also includes a Lands’ End Swimwear package for four, round-trip airfare and transportation, and meals. The official contest rules and entry form can also be found at www.landsend.com/getaway .

To celebrate the launch of The Island, Lands’ End is providing a promo code for free shipping starting Monday, May 4, and ending Monday, May 25. Simply enter the promo code and pin number below at http://www.landsend.com/ checkout and you will get receive free shipping off your entire order.

Saved 50% at Albertsons

We went grocery shopping yesterday and it was an unplanned trip. I was lucky that I had my coupons with me. I purchased a paper and found doubler coupons for Albertson in there.

Albertsons has decided to stop taking competitor coupons so on Sundays in the news paper they are putting three double your coupon coupons in there.

We purchased Creamer which is impossible for us to save money on because we use so darn much. DARN YOU coffee-mate.

So 10 creamers,

26 Fuzes and I got 14 of them free.

3 2 liters of Pepsi (my DH had a craving)

animal crackers

cottage cheese

two dole fruit packages

I still saved 50 percent. I love coupons and doubler coupons.

Choose the Perfect Name for Your Baby Boy or Girl

Choose the Perfect Name for Your Baby Boy or Girl

Though some may claim that they’re all the same
There is something unique in every name
Michael, Michelle—Jose and Eileen
Names you know well
But do you know what they mean?

Have you ever wondered about the history and meaning of your name or the names of your family and friends? Is there a bouncing baby boy or girl in your future? Are you finding it difficult to decide on a name?

The origin, history, and meaning of names are as diverse as those to whom they are given. The name Adam, for example, is Hebrew and means “man or earth.” The meaning of the name Michelle takes the form of a question and translates “Who is like God?” The name Derek has a Germanic origin and means “ruler of the people.” Some names have religious connotations, while others reference personality or physical attributes. The name Dante means “enduring or obstinate,” while the Welsh name Tegan means “beautiful.” The meaning and history of these names and thousands of others can be found at ParentsConnect.com.

The resources at ParentsConnect.com can make choosing a name for that soon to be arriving bundle of joy a less painstaking process. Their catalog, containing thousands of baby boy and baby girl names and the origin and meaning of each, can help you to confidently decide on one. ParentsConnect.com allows you to quickly search for any name by gender, specific name, or part of a name. And while many names are gender specific, you can also search for unisex names, the popularity of which has increased in recent years.

Once you have chosen a name, you will inevitably find yourself repeating it to yourself, listening carefully to the sound and cadence. Thought should be put into choosing a name that balances well with your surname. Generally, a longer first name goes better with a short last name and vice-versa. The name “John Smith” may not sound as distinguished as “Jeremiah Smith.”

Even if you have already chosen your baby’s name or are not expecting a baby any time soon, it may be fun to go to ParentsConnect.com and look up your own or your child’s given name. And while you’re there, check out all the other invaluable resources and links for parents and children, including articles, community chat rooms, games, pregnancy calendar, and much more.

Baby Banana By Debi Derryberry Giveaway

About Debi Derryberry and Baby Banana

image In addition to her success as one of Hollywood’s most active voice-over artists, L.A.-based kids’ entertainer Debi Derryberry is passionate about writing and performing in front of live audiences. Today, the multi-talented performer is turning that passion into a burgeoning career as a singer/songwriter of award-winning children’s CDs and an author.  Released in 2006 and 2008, respectively, her first two CDs are “What A Way To Play” and “Very Derryberry,” both of which have garnered widespread critical acclaim. Today, Debi is very excited about her latest creative endeavor: the delightful preschool children’s character, Baby Banana, who first appeared in a calypso-themed song on “What A Way to Play.”  A hit with children and parents, “Baby Banana” rose to number one on Sirius Radio.   Debi is touring extensively in 2009, entertaining kids and grown-ups with songs and stories about Baby Banana, his Daddy Gorilla and Momma Duck, and their tropical fantasy world of natural wonders, exotic animal friends, and tantalizing tastes, sights and smells.  Their adventures are also celebrated in her new CD, “Debi Derryberry’s Baby Banana,” and book, “Baby Banana and the Licorice Tree.”  Published in December ’08, the book marks Debi’s debut as a children’s author.

Baby Banana:

Baby Banana was inspired by a bedtime story about a unique and loving family – Baby Banana, Momma Duck and Daddy Gorilla – which was originally created for Debi’s young son.  Visitors to the website will be enchanted as they enter a tropical fantasy world filled with calypso-themed music and videos, colorful animations and a host of hands-on activities, including these highlights:

  • Four beautifully-produced new music videos that feature Debi performing her songs in a blend of live action and animation: “Baby Banana,” “Happiest Day,” “Tropical Fruit” and “I Wish You Could Fly with Me.”
  • A free download of the new song, “Tropical Fruit,” for those who join the Baby Banana Fan Club.
  • Two interactive games – “Memory” and “Candy Catch” – that will elicit squeals and giggles from little ones, with more to be added soon!
  • A monthly banana/tropical-fruit-themed recipe from leading kids’ culinary school, Piccolo Chef (www.piccolochef.com).
  • Hands-on activities that kids and their grown-ups will enjoy doing together.
  • Mini-features about Baby Banana, his family and their exotic animal friends.
  • A blog in which the energetic Baby Banana will share his experiences with fans who come to visit.
  • Concert footage of Debi and Baby Banana performing for live audiences.

The website will also include the latest news about Debi’s live appearances with Baby Banana and a place for children to share their drawings and words about the characters.

Our Opinion:

clip_image001 “Pick Pick Pick a banana”

“Pick a banana today”

My daughter and I were dancing. She went crazy with this song. We were going up and down the hall and this just put her in the best mood. It was needed too. We had a rough day. I’m not saying this is the best music ever or anything but it was ok. I could see myself getting tired of this music but adding it to our collection is perfect. There are some swaying songs and some up beat songs.

The last song is the story Baby Banana and the Licorice Tree read by Debi Derryberry.

Ribert & Robert’s WonderWorld TV

About Ribert & Robert’s Wonderworld:

Ribert, an energetic little frog and his best friend Robert travel through the animated land of Wonderworld. Along the way, the delightful duo answer quizzes, meet performers like Magic Matt and resident storyteller Leeny, participate in science experiments and discuss real-life dilemmas. Each episode is built around themes derived from the kindergarten curriculum and also addresses social-developmental issues like the first day of school and visiting the doctor. All the while, the series inspires little viewers to ‘love to learn and learn to love in everything they do!’ through playful music, magic, movement and art.

WWTVWonderWorld Entertainment has announced an exciting opportunity for kids around the world to show off their talents – The Golden Ribby Awards – in addition to launching an interactive website where kids can “travel” through an educational environment, learning everything from cooking to yoga or watch an episode of “Ribert & Robert.”

The Golden Ribby allow kids to showcase their gifts in music, comedy, dance, art, science, sports and more. With help from their parents, kids are invited to make a video or take a digital picture highlighting Wonderworldtheir talents and upload it at WonderWorld TV.com. A full list of categories can be found at WonderWorldTV.com.

Finalists are eligible to receive prizes from 11 categories to win a Golden Ribby Mini and a $100 gift card, a Silver Ribby Mini and a $50 gift card or a Bronze Ribby Mini and a $25 gift card. Winners from each quarter will advance on to the voting of the annual grand prize. The grand prize will be awarded late in 2009 and the recipient will receive $10,000.

Episodes of “Ribert & Robert’s WonderWorld” continue to air on television stations  around the world, while also are available for viewing on WonderWorldTV.com.

My Opinion:

My daughter and I were able to preview two different episodes. One episode was about the Rainforest and I can’t remember what the other one was about. They kept her interest and they were very informative. It completely reminded me of TV that I would watch on Saturday Mornings. It is very educational. It’s upbeat, fun, and will definitely keep the kids attention.  I love the interactive aspects of it. I recommend this show to every parent or teacher looking to teach the love of learning to their children.

Movie Review Hotel For Dogs Giveaway

I was offered the chance to review Hotel for Dogs with my children. WOW was I excited when we got the box. We received a huge box for a little DVD. Inside the box was a toy for our dog. It’s a cute squeaky toy. Also, you can get the box personalized for your dog. It’s a really cute idea.

We didn’t get our box personalized.

Hotel for Dogs is about Andi (Emma Roberts) and Bruce (Jake Austin) looking for a family. They are brother and sister who are foster kids living with Lois Scudder (Lisa Kudrow) and they are completely unhappy.

To be a little bit happier they have smuggled a dog into the apartment and Jake makes amazing inventions to help keep the dog hidden. Knowing that they are always getting into trouble they had to find a place for their pet to live. So they found the Hotel For Dogs. Of course it doesn’t end there. There are more ups and downs before they find a real family.

My daughter watched it three times in a row. We were having a rough day (she was sick with an ear infection).
