Saturday’s Personal Time

IMG_7408

We had pictures taken quite a while ago and they are for Father’s Day. Due to what was going on at the time I couldn’t keep it a secret.

For my personal time today we spent the day as a family. I only got on the computer for a few minutes this morning when my kids were taking a nap and then we went out for ice cream, well that was after another nap and Mom and Dad both took naps while Zoe watched a movie and Miles took a nap. My kids are sick so they need more sleep.

We then went and had some ice cream at The Marble Slab. MMMMMMM Cake Batter ice cream.

I love my kids so much and I am always pleased to remember how much fun they are and can be. It was really refreshing for me to have my parents come up for a week because once they left I was reminded how much I love being a mom. I was able to get that rest and relaxation that I needed to feel fully able to be mom.

Moms need and deserve breaks. Don’t ever let someone judge you for taking time away from your family to get some rest and breathing space. So what I did today that was for myself…

My husband and I took the kids outside and I set Miles up on a blanket and Zoe had her shovels, gloves, and they played. I grabbed my kindle and started reading in the sun. It was really rejuvenating to be able to sit in the heat. It wasn’t too hot for me (being that I’m used to smoldering in the Texas Heat). My son had to take a nap and my daughter helped my husband wash the cars. It was such a beautiful day. It’s been a long time that I’ve been able to sit and read during the day. Thanks Andrew, I love you! You gave me a great afternoon.

Cart Stopper – never chase the cart again giveaway

Cart Stopper has won an award for Best Product by ORCA Communications Unlimited LLC.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Cart Stopper is a simple and effective device that reduces the risk of child injury and vehicle damage related to “run-away” shopping carts. It holds securely to any clean, flat vehicle surface and immobilized your shopping cart.

My Opinion:

My biggest problem with the Cart Stopper is that I forget I have it. I keep it in my diaper bag and it falls to the bottom and it drives me crazy digging for it. So, as I’m sitting here thinking about this, I realize I should just keep in inside of the door where I put my kids.

Having two children and a trip to target makes the cart stopper a great item to have on hand. Most grocery stores will help me out, but Target I’m on my own. It really is very simple to use. It sticks to our van very well. The other end just slides in between the bars and it’s secure. I can leave one child in the cart without having to use my foot to hold onto the cart.

Next Weekend I’m driving a Ford Fusion

2010 Fusion Hybrid PhotoThis is so exciting, I’m going to be test driving a 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid. Under extreme testing conditions it gets 80 mpg. That was measured with professional drivers under perfect conditions, they are actually advertising that it gets 41 Miles per gallon which is still impressive for a larger vehicle. In high school and college I had a little bitty Geo Metro hatchback. All my friends in high school laughed at my car, but in college it seemed that people understood how lucky you were to have a car without payments. It was a cheap car and when I was done with it I sold it for 500.00 dollars. Huge deal for a car that runs!

Ford has decided that working with mother’s is the new way to market their vehicles. I think it’s smart. Moms have a much more realistic view of driving with screaming kids (now the professional drivers should try those conditions). We also fluff, you know, we write from the heart and not just facts.

Because if I like it I’m going to tell everyone about it and I’m sure I’m going to love it after driving my Dodge Caravan. I hate my Dodge. It’s a POS. Terrible language for a mommy blog I know, but the thing doesn’t run well and the heat takes forever.

So In Two weeks look forward to my review of the Ford Fusion Hybrid 2010.

While you are waiting, check out the Ford Fusion Hybrid Technical Specifications.

Epson Is going crazy Four New Printers in one day

Sometimes I wonder if the economy is really down when companies can make so many different products. I suppose the truth of the matter is that even though we don’t have a lot of money to spare we are used to all of our necessities. I mean, when my computer, printer, TV, game console, electronics of any kind go out, I need to fix it or replace it immediately and why not?

It’s my job, my entertainment, my way of life, but it also gives me the chance to find a good bargain.

If you’re on-line reading my blog, chances are you feel the same way or close to the same thing. That’s why Epson came out with so many different printers. They have the all-in-one printer at different price points

Epson introduced four ink jet printers to its Stylus NX series at an affordable price, including the entry-level Epson Stylus NX115 ($69.99*), Epson Stylus NX215 ($89.99*), Epson Stylus NX415 ($99.99*), and the flagship of the series, the Epson Stylus NX515 (149.99*).

Their intent is to give you more bang for your buck.

“Each product in the Epson Stylus NX family gives you more for your money by delivering a better combination of features and print quality than competitive products at the same price point,” said Kristi Lanzit, product manager, consumer ink jets, Epson America Inc.  “Products range from the entry-level Epson Stylus NX115 all-in-one to the extremely fast flagship Epson Stylus NX515, which is up to two times faster than any comparable printer in its price range1, with built-in Wi-Fi® and Ethernet.”

Since I haven’t tried one yet I want to just give you information and not opinion so this is from their Press Release:

All four Epson Stylus NX models are simple to setup and use, and offer smart features.  They also produce output that is smudge-, fade- and water-resistant with Epson’s exclusive DURABrite® Ultra all-pigment inks for printing recipes that won’t run when spilled on, invitations that will maintain their outstanding print quality through the mail, and long-lasting, durable photos. In addition, the series utilizes Epson’s award-winning MicroPiezo® print technology and is ideal for consumers looking to get more in a home printer at an affordable price.

Additional Features and Benefits of the Epson Stylus NX Series:

· BorderFree® photo printing

· Two-sided printing to save paper2

· Quick, high-quality scanning up to 2400 dpi

· Image enhancement tools such as photo restoration

· Automatic photo correction to quickly fix digital images

· One-touch red eye removal

· Photos and documents with instant-drying ink

· Standard and high capacity black cartridges available to match print volume needs

In 2009, the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) – the world’s largest developer and publisher of international standards – introduced an official standard used to measure print speeds on ink jet printers. The flagship Epson Stylus NX515 offers a black ISO speed of 15 PPM and color ISO speed of 9.3 PPM. More information about ISO is available at www.iso.org, and details regarding Epson print speed measurements, including complete ISO reports, are available at www.epson.com/printspeed.

The Epson Stylus NX515 is currently available for “pre-order” for a limited time through Amazon.com, BestBuy.com, Fry’s Electronics  and Epson’s retail site. All of the Epson Stylus NX series printers will be available in June through major retailers.

Also for those of you that like to print photos:

Epson Artisan 50Priced at $99.99 (estimated street price), this compact and stylish printer enables users to create Ultra Hi-Definition photos with amazing richness, depth and clarity.  The Epson Artisan 50 also lets users print their own images and text onto ink jet printable CDs and DVDs. It can also print documents, e-mails and itineraries quickly and easily at print speeds up to 38 ppm color, and laser-quality speeds of 5 ppm black and 4.8 ppm color.

For me though, I need this baby:

The Epson Stylus Pro 3800 Standard Printer

OR

The Epson Stylus Pro 11880 Printer K3 Edition (I’d have to become a photographer and not a blogger)

8 Simple Rules Giveaway

Where to start with this one? 8 Simple Rules was John Ritter’s last show. He was still working when he died. I think it caught everyone off guard. It was right before season two was supposed to begin…..

cast_8simplerules.jpgWidowed mom Cate Hennessy raises three teens in this sitcom, which shifted focus in 2003 following the sudden death of its star, John Ritter, just before the start of its second season. Cate’s father Jim (James Garner) joined the show and helped the family adjust to the loss.

8 Simple Rules for Dating my Teenage Daughter was the original name of the series. It was based on a book by W. Bruce Cameron with the same title. The TV show was then changed to 8 Simple Rules. It ran from September 17 2002 to April 15 2005. Here is a copy of the rules:

The rules are:

  1. Use your hands on my daughter and you’ll lose them after.
  2. You make her cry, I make you cry.
  3. Safe sex is a myth. Anything you try will be hazardous to your health.
  4. Bring her home late, there’s no next date.
  5. Only delivery men honk. Dates ring the doorbell. Once.
  6. No complaining while you’re waiting for her. If you’re bored, change my oil.
  7. If your pants hang off your hips, I’ll gladly secure them with my staple gun.
  8. Dates must be in crowded public places. You want romance? Read a book.
  9.

I think I like these rules, now that I have my own daughter. Season Two has the final four episodes that John Ritter filmed and then they pick up as a family dealing with the death of their father. They bring on two guest stars that are very strong actors in my very humble opinion. David Spade and James Garner. They both became permanent stars on the show.

Season Two was just released to DVD on April 21st and I got a copy on that day. I also have one to giveaway.

Friday Fails me this week

I find that it is Friday I have not finished out my week blogging. My to do list that was supposed to  be done last night:

Aloha Friday

Fitness Friday

Two giveaways and some random personal posts.

Why do Review Bloggers get so much flack? I have been reading other bloggers opinions and I just get so irritated. I mean, I’ve been lucky, no one has directed any negative content towards me yet. There is so much controversy with the type of blogging that I like to do. I like to do reviews. I however, will tell you if something sucks. I just have to tell you that. A lot of bloggers just refuse to write about stuff if it’s not positive. Well, I think we can only be fair to our readers if we include the bad as well as the good.

I’ll still give the company back their item if they it want it back.

Here is my process..

I spend the week contacting sponsors and responding to e-mail. I blog at night while playing computer games with my husband. Sometimes I stay up late to get a little bit more done. Then I pay for it the next day when my kids are ready to get up and I want to go to bed. I spend my days taking care of two glorious children. So I don’t have spare time. I doesn’t get paid for reviews or giveaway. I just don’t feel comfortable charging. Would you feel comfortable with my opinion if it was swayed by money?

I suppose with the internet though, how would you know if I accepted payment or not. I do have paid posts from time to time. Can you tell which is which?’ I don’t think so, and just so you know, they are usually months apart. Months and months apart.

Friday wasn’t really a failure. I took my kids to the farm. We learned about green houses and how to make one at home. The dirt in a bag scared my husband when he found it under the skylight. We went to the library and picked up a bunch of new books to read. We ate ice cream for lunch. I had peanut butter and the kids had fat free frozen yogurt. Miles didn’t want to eat it so I didn’t make him and Zoe, she loved it all over her face and down her neck and on her dress. Not to fear I was prepared for once and had a change of clothes in the van. I changed her clothes cleaned her up and we were good to go. We did take a bath in the tub with our new Boon Spout. I’ll have to write a review about that later. Well, to anyone that reads me for content and not giveaways. Here it is, some content.
