Walgreens is not one of my favorite stores just because I have trouble understanding Register Rewards and I worked the graveyard shift for a week and wanted to pass out so walking into it makes me remember those feelings. However, after learning about their Take Care program I can find a much happier response when going into their store.
Sandra Ryan, the chief Nurse Practitioner Officer for Take Care Health Systems said
“Walgreens and Take Care Health Systems strongly believe that a family’s health care needs should not take a backseat to the economy,” said Sandra Ryan, Chief Nurse Practitioner Officer for Take Care Health Systems. “Take Care Clinics were founded on the principle of providing patient-focused care and Take Care Health Providers have always served as advocates for patients that visit the clinics. Take Care Health Providers fully appreciate the important role they can play for patients, helping them to understand where the Take Care Recovery Plan starts and stops in terms of service delivery. To that end, Take Care Health Providers will work hand-in-hand with patients to provide them with information on all health care support options – including child and adult state assistance plans, free or discounted prescription plans and referrals to other affordable care sites within the health care system.”
There are bargains to be found there too. Sales Coupons and Register Rewards can equal free. You just have to do the math. But Walgreens is now about more than helping families save money, actually, this program will help families with out insurance save even more money. YEAH Walgreens!!
Take Care Health Systems and Walgreens have just launched their Take Care Recovery Plan – demonstrating a commitment to families during tough economic times, the Take Care Recovery Plan offers free healthcare services at Take Care Clinics throughout the remainder of 2009 to all patients, and their families, that suffer a job loss on or after March 31, 2009 and have no health insurance benefits.
I was looking on their site to see where a local one would be and was surprised at how many I found. They are located everywhere. Now I am really impressed with their new system. You can receive wellness checks and immunizations, flu shots and general care. The program is expected to last through the end of 2009. Walgreen runs 341 Take Care clinics in 35 markets around the country, including Chicago, Atlanta, Miami and Cleveland.
Walgreen said patients who lose their job and health insurance after March 31 will be able to get free treatment at its in-store Take Care clinics for respiratory problems, allergies, infections and skin conditions, among other ailments. Typically those treatments cost $59 or more for patients with no insurance.
Medical lab operator Quest Diagnostics is participating in the program by offering free tests for step throat and urinary tract infections.
