My Ben and Jerry’s April Fools Joke became real

To save money for my family I have signed up for almost any and all newsletters you can think of. I hardly ever read them but the one from Ben and Jerry’s said Free Scoop of Ice Cream on April 21st

Find a Scoop Shop Near You

Also in this newsletter was an article about food from cloned animals. I’m not entirely sure I’m ok with it. what do you think? Here is a copy of the article:

Cyclone DairyApril Fools! Ben & Jerry’s launched a fictitious dairy company called "Cyclone Dairy" – selling milk made from 100% cloned cows in March 2009. CyClone Dairy isn’t real, but it could be! Did you know that in January 2008, the U.S Food and Drug Administration declared milk and meat from cloned animals safe for human consumption, allowing cloned food products to enter the U.S. food supply?

We believe you should have the right to choose which foods you eat – and not to eat cloned foods if you don’t want to. And that’s why Ben & Jerry’s believes we need a national clone tracking system, so people and companies can know where their food is coming from.
Please visit our friends at the Center for Food Safety to join our campaign to track clones and protect consumer choice.

Do you care how your food is made? I do when it comes to meat, but maybe I don’t because I would love to live in the Star Trek world and have all my food replicated and never have to wash dishes again. We ate grapples.

Mother’s Day Gift Idea from Food Network

This is exciting news in my opinion from the Food Network. They are releasing their shows to DVD. Do you watch Alton Brown? My husband used to. iCarly Season 1 Volume 2 Giveaway

iCarly_S1V2_DVD_3D

Nickelodeon is widely known for it’s children’s programs. They have been cranking out content for 30 years now and for the past 14 of them they have been rated the number one basic cable network. Nickelodeon and all related titles, are trademarks of Viacom Inc.

If you are not already an iCarly fan let me tell you about her and her gang.

iCarly and her pals Sam and Freddie are back in this 12 episode DVD release. Miranda Cosgrove is Carly and she is the host of an incredibly popular teen web show. This two disc pack is about the threesome as they deal with school growing up and putting out the best web show. This is a pre-release copy that I’m giving away, but the giveaway won’t be over until after the release date of the 21st. ;-) .

How the show began

Here’s how it all began…
Story Told by Freddie

Okay, here’s how it went down. Sam took Miss Briggs’ head and PhotoDocked it onto a rhinoceros body. Then Sam put up copies of the pic all over school! When Miss Briggs saw one, she FREAKED. Carly knew that if Briggs found out Sam did it, Sam would probably get kicked out of school (cuz Sam’s already been in LOTS of trouble this semester). And since Carly is such a cool friend, she took the blame for Sam.

So, Carly got in trouble and had to give up her whole Saturday. Briggs made her come to school and be in charge of the kids’ auditions for the school talent show (which was mostly BORING).

Since the whole thing was Sam’s fault, Carly made Sam help her with the auditions — so they both had to give up their whole Saturday. I was there too, cuz Carly needed someone to film all the auditions (yeah, they needed me).

Most of the kids’ auditions were lame. The best stuff was when Carly and Sam were joking around in between the auditions. I thought they were being really funny, so I shot video of them goofing around (they didn’t know I was filming them).? Carly and Sam were just being soooo funny together, especially when they were making fun of Miss Briggs’ pointy boobs!

Everything was cool until later that night. Sam spent the night at Carly’s
(which she always does)…and at around midnight, they went online to see
if I had uploaded the auditions for Miss Briggs. Carly and Sam FREAKED when they saw that I ACCIDENTALLY uploaded video of THEM goofing around, and even making fun of Miss Briggs. They were soooo mad at me.

The good news was, tons of people commented the video of Carly and Sam, and the comments were GREAT. Thousands of people online LOVED Carly and Sam. They all wanted to see more of them. So…

We decided to give ‘em MORE! We decided to start our own web show. Carly and Sam do their thing in front of the camera, and I work the camera and handle all the tech stuff.

That’s how iCarly got started, and now it’s, like, really popular!

Freddie B.

PS: Thanks for watching us!

This season begins with a stalker, Sam gets a boyfriend and a possible show endorsement. The teens work through everything together and end up helping a lovesick teacher and saving TV.

The discs also include special features. You can go behind the slime with the cast and behind the scenes. There is also a special bonus of the pilot episode of True Jackson VP.

Any Tizer Anytime Giveaway

tysonIf you are a long time reader then you know I love to save money. I save and use coupons and stack coupons and scour the sales and ads for a great deal. So I love working with companies and trying out products because that saves us money.

The most recent company that I got to work with is Tyson. I love Tyson chicken. Yum Yum. I’m sure your family uses a lot of their products and if you don’t you’re missing out. That’s my opinion. It is so convenient to pull out a bag of their frozen chicken and pop some chicken in the toaster oven.

Any time is the right time for Tyson Any’tizers®. They are the hot, substantial snacks that are always perfectly delicious. Ideal for any snack, partying with friends or as a unique meal, they’re unbelievably easy to prepare in just minutes. With so many varieties to choose from, the only hard part is deciding which ones to eat first.

baggedBefore I had kids we were eating breaded chicken nuggets almost all the time. We would also get the honey flavored wings made by Tyson.

Tyson sent me two boxes of the newest addition to their Any’tizer line. I have only tried one of them so far and I almost ate the whole box by myself. I shared the rest with my children. As good as they are they sure do pack the calories. For this reason we won’t be having them all the time. probably not very often at all, but I sure did enjoy them. We had the Chicken Cordon Blue and it was delicious. My stepmom made homemade Chicken Cordon Blue over rice and it was always so yummy. Maybe that’s why I liked these so much!

Win Some

Two Readers will each receive 3 free product coupons from Tyson. They are good for up to 9.99 so that is almost 30.00. I hope it helps you save money at the grocery store.

Visit Tyson and tell me which flavor Any’tizer you would purchase.

Sid the Science Kid Excites Kids for Earth Day

**************Update for EARTH DAY!********************

Visit Sid the Science Kid special earth day site. There are a lot of great activities that your little scientists are sure to enjoy (printable coloring pages, jokes, and experiments!  There are also fun resources that relate to each episode topic.  This is a great way to explore and learn together- all while encouraging kids to be friendly to our planet.

Zoe and I watched “The dirt on dirt today” a special episode of Sid the Science Kid . I loved it. I didn’t think she got anything out of it until later in the day; after their naps we went outside like we do in the afternoons. This time, Zoe saw the dirt and she wanted to play with it. She asked for her shovel and bucket and she started playing. She dumped the bucket of dirt out and said “yah”. She looked at the dirt. Then she was done until she saw mommy cleaning it up. She wanted to play with it. So I helped her use the shovel to put the dirt back in the bucket. (We have a separate bucket of dirt for her to play in because our ground is all rocks and impossible for her to play in.)

About Sid the Science Kid

Sid the Science Kid is an animated series that looks like 3-D computer animation. It is designed around children’s creative desire to learn and explore. Sid asks a lot of questions and wants to learn. His pre-school teacher is very creative and sings to help teach them about the world around them. The scientific process can be used even at their learning level. I found the singing and dancing to be very cute and funny. I think if my daughter wasn’t sick right now she would have danced as well.

“The Dirt on Dirt” is part of a day full of shows that are Earth Day inspired. Check your local listings for time and don’t forget that Earth day is April 22. This episode investigates dirt. How many kids of dirt are there? What’s in the dirt? I haven’t thought of things like that in a long time. Seeing things through the eyes of a child is eye opening.

So my daughter was encouraged to play and explore dirt from educational TV. Not all TV is bad. PBS Kids is completely educational. There are shows about reading and letters and words. Then of course you have Sesame Street which is one of my daughter’s favorite sites to visit.

Playing with my kids and IKEA

IMG_0104 Today I did not get on my computer at all until after my children went to bed. We spend the day as a family and went out and enjoyed the sunshine. We also went out furniture shopping and came home empty handed. We went to IKEA and picked out a table and chair set for our dining room living room.

I must say all the choices at IKEA drive me nuts and made me dizzy. Pick your color, pick your style, pick your size, then look at the thousands of chairs we have (ok, hundreds) and then remember that and pick them up out of our warehouse full of boxes.

We need a table because we are down to three chairs and one of them is about to break and my family is coming to visit us. So we need seating for five adults. I think this is the chair I liked the most. It’s hard to tell in the picture but it is dark brown with a white cushion.

So after IKEA we went to the park to play. My daughter has to warm up to playing. She needs lots of encouragement and help, then she’s off running around. My son, complete opposite. If you let go of him he is off running and you’ll be running after him forever. He’s not even walking yet. Oh the trouble I am in when he starts walking.

Christian Trading Cards – Bible meets Anime

Creation By Design has created cards in the fashion of other cards that children use to bring them back to the bible.

clip_image001

We have created (and will continue to create) Trading Cards based upon the wonderful stories of the Bible.
Starting in order, we are working on the Old Testament currently, and while we have completed the first 100 cards, the Old Testament series will encompass 817 separate cards, and we expect at least that many for the New Testament. All information on our Trading cards have been written and edited by several Biblical scholars of all denominations for accuracy.

Teaching older children bible stories can be fun. My 2 year old even likes these cards. I like the cards because:

  1. They are thicker than playing cards
  2. They are very colorful
  3. They have a good solid message
  4. They bring children together
  5. I want my children to know the bible inside and out. I want them to know it better than I do and I think this will help us learn together.

I can’t say for sure why my two year old loves the cards except that she just loves to learn and look at cards, doesn’t really matter what kind they are. Each card has original computer-generated artwork on the front depicting something directly from the Bible. The back is divided into three sections. The Narrative relates a snippet of the story associated with that card in everyday language. The Fun Facts section relates trivia facts about the card topic, encompassing such subjects as Art, Literature, History, Science, Animals and more. The Timeline section places the events of that card in relation to the other Trading Cards and world history, taking the stories of the Bible out of the realm of myth and into fact and history.

These trading cards will be sold to typical trading card channels, and on the their website, www.mybiblecards.com. With its unique combination of storytelling, historical information, fun facts and memorable artwork, Creation By Design provides family entertainment that will please Bible enthusiasts of all ages.

Aloha Friday – Rules

alohafriday5

Kailani says “In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that they take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response”. You should go to Kailani’s site and link up with Mr. Linky, but don’t be rude, be sure and answer her question.

My Question:

What do you think about rules that people follow just because they are rules, what if the rule is old and doesn’t make sense anymore?

My moms club has a newsletter that I write every month and e-mail it out to all of the members. I’m supposed to mail it out to the chapter heads but I always forget and end up being late every month. I asked them if I could e-mail it to them and they could print it out if they absolutely needed it printed.

Their response:

All chapters must print and mail the newsletter out to chapter heads and big sisters by the 15, it’s a rule.

My response:

No I have not done it, yes I will do it because they complain to my president and I don’t want to embarrass her anymore than I already have but it irritates me because it hurts the environment and they probably just recycle it anyways. So I feel some rules are STUPID. Yes I am late again!!!
