Food Network April Highlights

I’m really not entirely sure how I got on this e-mail list, but every month I get highlights from the Food Network. They are Public New Releases. Now this one caught my eye.

Robert Ivine returns as the host of Dinner Impossible. Now, is this because the other guy couldn’t get the ratings that Robert had, well what does this say about the Food Network’s morals. You fired the guy because he lied to get the job. He lied in so many ways, he said he was a knight, he said he worked on Princess Dianna’s wedding cake. I mean, why make up this stuff, people say he can cook, from watching the show in the past he obviously knows how to bark orders, he doesn’t seem to be a nice guy. I only watched it because I was trying to watch appropriate tv while my daughter was awake and now we don’t have cable and I’m not waisting the time I do have to watch hulu on dinner impossible. Sorry Food network, but I really don’t think giving this guy a second chance is a great idea.

Dinner: Impossible

Premieres: Wednesday, April 8th at 10pm – SEASON PREMIERE!

“X Eats at the X Games”

In the season premiere of Dinner: Impossible, Robert heads to Aspen, Colo. to cook for 200 action sports athletes at the Winter X Games. Robert works in severe outdoor conditions, and has just seven hours to make his most extreme menu ever. Can he overcome spills, hills and chills, or will this be Dinner: Impossible?

I would however, be interested in watching the new series Food Network Challenge All Star “Last Cake Standing“. I love reality TV contests.

LAST CAKE STANDING

Since 2005, Food Network Challenge has captivated viewers with exciting food battles from around the country. Now in it’s first-ever elimination-style competition, Food Network Challenge: Last Cake Standing, six Challenge all-stars vie for the title of “Best Cake Artist in America.” Premiering Sunday, April 5th at 8pm, the series throws the pastry chefs into a grueling four-round cake competition. The Challenge alumni will be thrown a number of difficult tasks, from creating one-of-a-kind wedding creations to undergoing a 24-hour cake-making marathon. Each week the judges eliminate one cake artist, and the winner takes home the biggest prize in Challenge history: $50,000! Challenge emcee Keegan Gerhard serves as host and notable pastry chef Patrick Coston and famed cake designer Kerry Vincent lead the judging panel.

Premieres: Sunday, April 5th at 8pm – SERIES PREMIERE!

“Episode One”

In the premiere of Food Network Challenge: Last Cake Standing, six enthusiastic Challenge all-stars receive their first task: illustrate one aspect of their lives through cake! The action-packed competition begins with surprise instructions to move into their kitchens and immediately start creating their signature cakes. At the elimination ceremony, a curveball shocks the competitors when they, instead of the judges, are told to eliminate the first cake artist.

Premieres: Sunday, April 12th at 8pm

“Episode Two”

The five remaining competitors take a field trip to Denver’s City Hall where they embark upon an exciting, but complicated challenge: create a top-notch wedding cake in only eight hours. The competitors serve as wedding ceremony witnesses and consult with the newlyweds before completing impromptu cake sketches. The judges reveal the next elimination and the winning cake is served at the reception that very night.

Premieres: Sunday, April 19th at 8pm

“Episode Three”

The competition heats up when the four remaining competitors design over-the-top cakes based on an original superhero, decked out with extreme elements like moveable parts and fireworks. Hours before the competition, they are divided into teams and required to combine their cake designs. The winning team advances to the finale, and the losing duo faces off in an intense, 30-minute “cake-off” to determine who will move on and who will go up in smoke!

– more –

Premieres: Sunday, April 26th at 8pm

“Episode Four”

The final three competitors endure a 24-hour cake-making marathon – the longest competition in Challenge history! The finalists create a unique five-foot birthday cake for a set of sextuplets. Upon completion, they must transport their cakes 20 miles to the birthday party. Strategy, endurance and skills are tested and one talented cake artist is finally crowned the winner!

I got to try the

and I like them better than the chex turtle bars that general mills makes. They taste like coffee and although I love coffee, I think the flavor belongs in a cup or a bowl of ice cream. Not to mention you get all the nutrition from the fiber and only 140 calories, but you also get the spa basket.

You get a bath pillow, a mocha candle, lotion, and soap. Moms take a load off and relax.

In this economic climate many companies are cutting back on advertising spending but Del Monte just launched it’s biggest advertising campaign to date for the PUP-PERONI brand. This unprecedented $8 million national advertising campaign includes its first ever TV commercials with the theme “Dogs Just Know.” And this is great because dogs know. They know it all, but not my Jack. He’s not the brightest, but he is our protector.

Snow Snow Go Away

Spring should be around the corner and this is what I woke up to this morning. Now, today was a crazy weather day. We started out with two inches of snow, then we had some rain.
The rain took a while to get rid of the snow, then we had wind blasts up to 40 miles per hour today. The lights flickered on and off, but we didn’t lose power. That makes me really happy.
Then we had a hail storm, there was thunder and lightening and it hailed off and on for the rest of the afternoon. I’m finding this weather to be a bit freakish, last week we had blizzard conditions for about thirty minutes and then it was sunny for the rest of the week. What will this week bring?

They say Spring comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb, but snow? Come on.

Preacher’s Creatures Children’s Book Giveaway

I have another children’s book to giveaway. Preacher’s Creature strikes on Sunday. How do your kids feel about going to church every Sunday? Do they love it? Do they hate it, do they have any idea what’s really going on?

With hilarious stories and nutty pictures, the Tales from the Back Pew series offers kid’s a unique view of church. Enjoy plenty of giggles with your child—and learn fun, important truths about God, church, and the Bible. Mom is taking me to church this Sunday. I’ve heard a lot about church. You have to stand up, sit down, and kneel a hundred times. It’s called being in the service—I’m too young to be drafted!

Preacher’s Creature strikes on Sunday is all about church through the eyes of a child. These are crazy monster drawings and it’s cute. I think it would be better for children older than my two year old, it would be great as a first reader book. There is a lot for children to look at in the pictures though. ;-)

Discovering Shadows

Getting my kids to sleep through the night was a hard process that we did early. As soon as my kids did it once on their own, I made them do it every night. I should start with my daughter since I haven’t noticed this in my son, he is fearless so far.

After my daughter slept through the night, something would wake her up and I would go in her room to comfort her and I could tell that once I was in there holding her she was shaking. She was scared. I wasn’t sure what this was all about, until I looked around the room. My shadow was bouncing on all the walls as I was holding her and she could see it. She was afraid of my shadow. I tried to explain it to her what it was, but it was in the middle of the night and she was tired and scared. I put her back down and she would fall back asleep on her own.

Her daddy was playing with her shortly after this and they were in the hallway and she saw her shadow and she pointed at it and said wastat? Her daddy explained to her that was her shadow and she gave it a kiss. It is a sweet memory for me and her dad. She must have remembered that because she doesn’t wake up afraid of the shadows in her room.

I know she is still young and my son is really young, so we have some time and lots of things and reasons will come up for wanting to get out of bed at night. I just wanted to share this with you and enter the PBN Blog Blast for the week. The prize is 200.00 worth of Sylvania products.

You can win to by posting your own story about sleeping through the night.

Addicted to Hulu – I am watching House

Ok, so I just got through watching an interview with Hugh Laurie. I have a thing for men with accents, don’t tell my husband, oh wait, he reads my blog…

He already knows. Listening to his natural accent was really awesome, I’m so sad that I don’t have another episode to watch tonight. It’s rough not having cable, but Hulu is awesome. I can pick the shows I want to watch and I can let them pile up and have my own little marathon of my favorite shows, but then my blogging productivity shuts down. I am so far behind. I have five giveaways I need to get up and posted. I suppose I’ll sit down and do them all this weekend. I have to clean my house and hope for a sunny weekend.

I’m a rambler, I was talking about House, that was the whole point of this post and now I’m talking about what I haven’t done yet. I’m sure all of us moms could compare TODO lists and we would be a mile long, no not a mile long we would circle the earth a billion times with all we need to do. So I’m not doing anything and playing with my kids today.

Ok, I am a closet House watcher. I love House, I love the character and I love the show. He is completely detestable, and mean and hates himself just as much as everyone else and it’s sad. He’s a drug abuser and flaunts it to the world. He is the smartest doctor there ever was (which is why it’s a tv show). I love him for his honesty and if he was a real person, I would love him and try to show him the world’s beauty and he would hate and detest me. Which would make me try even harder. I also love the science and medical part of it. I guess in a strange way, I like biology. I have always been attracted to shows with a medical perspective, and sometimes the drama gets in the way of the best part of the show, but not on House. To me the character and the medicine is THE SHOW.

This season, he’s actually trying to be a nice guy. I LOVE IT. It’s just not working out for him. I used to love ER, until Dr. Carter left. The only reason ER is still on is because of the writer’s strike, it was supposed to have it’s last season last year. It just wasn’t quite the same for me I still watched it until we cut our cable. I think I’ll finish out the season with Hulu.. What’s your favorite show. Oh, that’s going to be my Aloha Friday question.

Victoria’s Secret Spend 10.00 Get a 10.00 GC

My daughter calls Heidi Klum The Bra Momma.

There is a promotion going on in the store at Victoria’s Secret that whenever you purchase 10.00 worth of product you get a gift card with at least 10.00 on it, it could have 50, 100, or 500. I had to make a purchase. I bought a bathing suit. I needed a new one since I lost my baby weight and I’m not sure where my old one is.

Which raises another question. Do Moms have to stop being sexy? Tastefully Sexy?

Aloha Friday – TV Junkie

Kailani says “In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that they take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response”.

If you’d like to participate, just post your own question on your blog. Don’t forget to visit the other participants!

What is your favorite TV show that you are almost ashamed to admit it?

Mine is House.
