This is the Day book review and giveaway

This is the day…..Does it make you want to start singing?

This is the day,
This is the day that the Lord has made,
Let us rejoice and be glad in it,….

Oh how the Lord has captured my heart and i want to share that with my children. My daughter asked me the other day about God. It made me smile, I was wondering if it was prompted by her new book, This is the day.

This Is the Day! was written by Nancy White Carlstrom. This Is the Day! is beautifully illustrated. It is so colorful it captures Zoe’s and Miles’ attention. While they pull the book from each other mommy or daddy read it to them. I think my husband has read it more times than I have.
It reads like a poem from page to page and is about teaching the children to take care of the world. I get distracted by the art. You can read the press release.

Based on Psalm 118:24, This Is the Day! takes kids ages 4-7 on
a daily walk through God’s creation – from deer grazing in the morning dew on
Monday, to robins’ nests and butterflies on Thursday to the beauty of rocky
coastline on Sunday

.

About the Author: Nancy White Carlstrom lives in my area the beautiful Pacific Northwest. She lives in the San Juan Islands and I hear they are beautiful and only a few hours away from me. ;-) She has been surrounded by the beautiful landscapes that we have and that was part of her inspiration for this book. She used to live in Alaska where you can often see whales. Well, when you near the water.
“I have always felt a deep connection to the natural world and have long enjoyed
the Psalms,” says Carlstrom who chose the San Juan Islands in the Pacific
Northwest, one of her favorite destinations, as the book’s setting. “This Is the
Day! is a celebration of God’s creation encouraging the readers to be surprised
by wonder in the natural world.”

Meal Plan Monday

All right readers, Last week, Rachel left a comment saying I always say I don’t need anything. Shame on me for saying that. I’m feeding two hungry children that always want more. I always forget what I need until I’m at the store. I didn’t do my budget for the month of February, I have no idea how much I spent. Last week I stocked up on cereal, and I purchased some Bisquick for Pumpkin Pancakes. Yummy. We don’t eat a lot of fresh veggies, but my kids love fruit.
Monday
Homemade Mac and Cheese, with green beans
Tuesday
Left Overs
Wednesday
Salmon, and plain white rice
Thursday
Hot Dogs and Green beans
Friday
Pizza
Sat/Sun
So hard to pick weekend food. We don’t go out to eat, but I don’t ever feel like cooking. So I’ll say sandwiches, and I should make some chicken

Sunday Savings

Fred Meyer: Had some good coupons I’m going to use them at Albertsons. The Super Coupon Girl saves money often here and at Safeway.

CVS: CVS is not local to where I am. I am jealous of those that live near one because making money at CVS seems to happen all the time. They also have a survey program where you can earn gift cards to spend in their stores. It is just too good to be true. So you can use Coupon Cravings, Keeping the Kingdom First and The “Cent”sible Sawyer and “Cents”able Mom.

Publix: I don’t have a Publix either. I found some savings advice for you at the Coupon Saving Family

WalMart: We don’t even get an ad for WalMart so you can go to Mommy Snacks for WalMart savings.

If you’re passionate about cooking and looking to save some money, sign-up for e-mails from Rachel Ray’s website. You’ll get an e-mail every Monday with 10 recipes that you can make for under $10. If $10 a meal is still too steep for you, be sure to visit one of my favorite blogs, $5 Dinners. She has some great ideas for frugal meals the whole family can enjoy

Walgreens is the place

Walgreens:

Is the place to shop this week. I may have to go even though, I makes me sick.

chocolate is buy one get one again and I haven’t used my coupons yet so I’m getting two for free.

Their flyer in the papers has a ton of really great coupons that I’m going to clip and use at Albertsons.

I should still have Venus Embrace coupons, four dollars off and When you purchase the Razor and refills, you will get 10.00 in register rewards.
Razor is on sale for 8.99 then – 4.00 coupon – 6 dollars in Register Rewards and it’s free. Refill will give you extra 4 more dollars, but I don’t know how much the refill costs. It will make more sense after i actually do it.

Excedrin is going to be a money maker
on sale for 1.99 and I still have a coupon for 2.00 off, and you get one register reward so make three dollars.

check out Coupon Cravings Later this week you will find more details from Walgreens at: Sisterly Savings, Keeping the Kingdom First and The “Cent”sible Sawyer and “Cents”able Mom.

General Mills Feeds My Family

I love General Mills! I have been saving so much money with them at Albertsons. Once a month they are having great discounts that are helping me save money and feed my children. Hey, Those cookies there, they are for ME. Miles is teething so he likes to chew on the packages. They are cold and soft to chew on.

I actually only let my children have Cheerios or Kix, but my husband and I have been looking at the boxes lately to find that the other cereals are not bad for them. My husband eats Trix, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Lucky Charms. I must secretly admit that I love to eat Reece’s Puffs. I also am very interested in trying the New Banna Nut Cheerios but I didn’t see them at Albertsons yet. We live out in the middle of nowhere (sorta) and our Albertsons doesn’t carry everything right away. They are a smaller store.

Thanks to General Mills and the

Mom Bloggers Club

Wii Fit Moms – Fitness Friday

I am late in posting my Fitness Friday post. Shame on me, I’m also late on a review for General Mills and it’s 9:00 PM so it’s either going to be a long night or I’m going to get even further behind.

I’m glad I didn’t get my post done last night because look at my work out partner today. I’m in the background copying him you can barely see me. I did some walking, I didn’t do much wii fit, but we downloaded the Tetris Party game that you can play with the fit.

We were sick

Tuesday
We were sick but I think my daughter and I went for a walk

Wednesday

Thursday
I took the kids to MOMS Club and then we went to Albertsons and I was so proud of my daughter, she walked the entire time and had such a fun time grocery shopping with mommy. She picked out stuff and threw it in the cart, even though she could barely reach.

Friday
Played Tetris with my board it was fun and I didn’t do it for very long, but my butt is sore. So I reccomend it, so does my son as you can see above. ;-)

I didn’t take my weight or watch what I ate so forgive me I’ll include next week.

General Jack O’Neill the Shepherd

General Jack O’Neil the shepherd runs the show around here, or at least he got everything he wanted until we had children. Of course, yesterday, my daughter realized the dog treats were withing her reach, so, she took the almost full bag of pork hides, and dumbed the bag under the kitchen table for him to eat. I hear so noises I know I’m not supposed to hear so I go in the room to find the mess and my usually reserved dog, eating as fast as he can. Normally he is the slowest pickiest eater you will ever find, but he must have known I was going to pick them up and take them away.

Here is that happy creature we know and love. My happy shedder.
The one I have complained about shedding everywhere. I’m going to enter him into a contest. The Parent Bloggers Network, has been kind enough to inform me that SC Johnson, is having a Show Off Your Shedder.

This is in honor of their new Pledge Fabric Sweeper. You can click on Pledge Fabric Sweeper to read my review and have a chance to win one.

Aloha Friday First

Kailani says “In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that they take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response”.

It’s a great way to make new bloggy friends!

My Question: Do you remember your child’s first words?

I don’t. You’re supposed to write this stuff down, I think my son said baby. Not baba, he said baby brother, like his sister does. I think my daughter said love. I think that was her first word as mommy and daddy said that to her all the time
